  1. All may cases look the same. The grounded grid is still untouched. This one has been serving as KGSShv and Blue Hawaii. Have an agreement. - number of working amplifier should be constant. New amp demands a sacrifice. My closet. T2 is my preferred amplifier. The rest come and go.

  3. Are you retarded by any chance? Seriously, both of those are truly fucktastic choices... Lampizator is utter shit only for people who don't believe in the laws of physics and Total DAC is way too expensive for what you are getting.

  6. Amen. I wrote that? wow! I’ve been looking through the window into your wonderful world of DIY headphones for years. Thanks for inviting me. The number is set due to necessity. Imagine our small living room and 29 full sized electrostatic amplifiers with associated power supplies. Practical impossible. As long as Kevin, Kerry and others are constantly providing us with new projects the space of our apartment is my bottleneck.

  9. The Joshua Redman/Brad Meldau concert I attended a long time ago was a pretty transformative experience The part leading up to those chords sounds very Ravel-like, and I believe the harmonization is something like a F# half diminished seventh with a dissonant escape tone that resolves down, then cadences to a first inversion minor C# triad in which the E becomes the third? Try it out

  12. If ever an agreement needed to be revised, or preferably, discarded, this is it........ Some sacrifices are just not psychologically viable........

  13. I listen to a lot of Stoner: try 1000mods, Truckfighters, some Black Space Riders (they're the least stoner of the bunch, the earlier albums are the most stoner, and the most recent is probably the least, but I really like where they're going, so like their most recent stuff the best), High on Fire, Monster Magnet, and some of this: Kyuss is of course the godfathers of Stoner. Desert Sessions (with a rolling cast of musicians) is also pretty great for classic Stoner.

  14. Hi JoaMat, I think you should try to make your own headphones. It'll be a lot of fun.

  16. ^This. Watching that show in the mid-70's highlighted my appreciation for a quirky, dry sense of humor. No one else in my family 'got it'. RIP Chuck Barris.

  17. Hard to tell without micro-detail. Non-Unicode ASCII is only 8-bit, innit?

  18. Wait, micro-detail and plankton aren't the same thing? I thought they were. I got your micro-detail right here (grabs crotch). Naw, it'll be fine, just think of it like whack-a-mole. Complete with squeak noises.

  20. Sure or Denafrips. I wouldn't spend more than 1k$ now on a dac as things are changing fast.

  21. Yup sure do but this isn't HF or SBAF where being retarded is the norm... Please give me some posts about micro detail, plankton and replacing the cables!!!

  23. So I ordered the Gamestop in-store $455 bundle. It came with Zelda BOTW, the strategy guide, the expansion pass, snipper clips, and one other physical game. I'll return the strategy guide and the other physical game when it comes to drop it down to $390 I'm starting to think the March 22nd re-stock statement was a ploy to get you in so the could pitch the bundle. No stores by me got a single switch today in Central NJ. Albeit I only called three.

  24. The three layer Carbon has as early said no trimmers. Offset and balance are entirely controlled by servos. The offset servo is the opto version introduced by Kevin some year ago. The balance servo I use was published by Kerry somewhere on Head Case a couple of years ago in a LTspice model. The cascoded current sources used is thanks to James Lin and his SRX revisited. James cascoded current source is now days found in many amplifiers and power supplies here at Head Case. Thank you gentlemen. (If I’ve had a screen printer in my kitchen your names would be on the top silk)

  27. Another very interesting piece from ESPN: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/page/presents18969358/nexus-partying-winning-nba It looks at the decline in home court advantage since the NBA's wild days in the 70's/80's.

  28. The 3-4 volts offset was a bit of a disappointment. Turned out OP27 was (partly) defect. New OP installed and now I get readings as below. No signal at input and DC at outputs are in mV range. No trimmers, just power up, inhale and all is set.

  29. Hey everyone, I just wanted to post about the new drop that is currently running. It is for a bead-blasted matte black version of the Pico DAC/Amp, as well as the Slim. it runs through Sunday.

  31. So I got those ESP950 leather pads and I kinda like them. Now the opening is much smaller than even the ebay pads and they are taller too. The sound...well it does clear up some of the ESP950's issues to some extent such as the boomy bass and vague sound stage. I need some further listening but yeah...not bad at all. I also had them make some SR-Omega pads and these won't work. Too thick, not big enough and the opening is too small...

  32. Today, my DIY T2 has successfully come to life! After a year on and off working on this amp on my kitchen table, I was able to power up today and get music playing. All 4 batteries are sitting around 743V. The +/- voltages for each channel are surprisingly well balanced, and both L and R sit about +10V offset at power-on and gradually get down to about 2-4V offset at steady state. I measured the heatsink temperature -- looks like it's steady at 124F/51C after about 3 hours continuous burn-in. A shoutout to GeorgeP for enabling this build--one of my good buddies helped me reached out to you about a year ago for the case/amp board/torroid set. Thanks KG, Spritzer, and everyone else who posted all the useful information on every aspect of the amp on this thread. I learned a lot through the process of building this amp! One interesting thing I found while testing the PSU was that when I had both HV toroids hooked up and powered, the combined inrush blew through my 3.15A slow blow fuse (at 120VAC from the wall). I take it that the inrush of the 2x HV toroids (at least on my toroids) are pulling closer, but not quite, to 4A, since I was able to power up one HV toroid with a 2A fuse that I had left over. I have a 5A slow blow in there now, and so far no issues! -Kuen
