Dusty Chalk Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 RIP Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, an innocent bystander shot and killed while peacekeepers were pursuing someone with an AR-15, at the No Kings rally in Salt Lake City. He was a beloved member of the community, and "dressed" some pretty famous people in the style of his Pacific Islander culture. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/man-killed-no-kings-protest-salt-lake-city-designer-ah-loo-rcna213296?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-us 7 1 Quote

blessingx Posted June 27 Report Posted June 27 RIP P. Adams Sitney, film scholar of the Avant-Garde “There’s in the art world in America now a deep hatred of the idea of originality and inspiration, a deep hatred of revelation,” he said in 2015. “There’s some ridiculous notion that art can be democratic. Art is the least democratic of all things!” https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/25/movies/p-adams-sitney-dead.html?unlocked_article_code=1.SE8.tPES.7HF2tsiog1ch&smid=url-share 6 Quote

skullguise Posted Wednesday at 06:00 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 06:00 PM (edited) (Edited for pronouns) RIP to poet (and more) Andrea Gibson. I hadn't really listened to them, only HEARD OF them. But with their death, I watched and listened. And....they were STUNNING! I watch several of their talks/poems and often times I cry, for their pain & beauty. Knuckledragger Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Dear lord. Today's news is insane, and leaves me with more questions than answers. Sunny was a tough woman. Not superhuman, but definitely world wise and not easily intimidated. She grew up in a harsh environment and knew how to fend for and defend herself. There's some missing piece of this story we still don't know. Is this kid a physical giant? Did she know him? I suspect she did. Did he manage to sneak up on her? This would be an insane story in any location, but in a quiet town of ~2000, it boggles the mind. 14 Quote
