Hi roger---bye roger...............nice first post though

I actually like AudioValve, and miss my Mk II, so any serious criticism of the layout would be appreciated.

English isn't their strong suit.

Not that I'm in the market.

Oooh, a phono section.

What's a headphone protector?

Damnit, now I want one.

Roger (the "R" in RKV) has done his job!

RKV Mk II & AKG K-1000 combo was actually my second headphone system (Ray Samuels XR-7 and Senn 580 was the first :- )

Always have a soft spot for Audio-Valve......

I like the idea of an "optional" phono stage that is on the main PCB.  These people have never heard of plug in boards?

Bah, you just solder in the parts if you need the phono stage! Hence the optionality.

Roger -- are you a member of the trade?  If so, you need to declare yourself as such.  A member of the trade does not have the same stigma as it does elsewhere, so please do.

You are currently suspended, but when you are able to post again, please respond openly and honestly.

Wow...love the RKV.  Sold mine for $650 together with the Impedancer about 7 years ago.  The RKV + K1000 was magical.

Link gave me AIDS.

I didn't believe you so I followed the link and now I have AIDS as well. confirmed.

Here are the specs

Seems to be a pre-amp as well as a headphone/speaker amp! Probably hellish expensive too!!!

"Also in RKV Mark 3 is a fully automatic biasing servo controller to use. In our new approach we have chosen a OPA134."

FEARTURES:

  • consequence double mono design
  • 2 * 0,15mm copper for top and bottom layer
  • multi VIA layer grounding basis,  pcb design is based on the theoretical principles of the "kelvin - wiring"
  • heavy 3 mm laser cuted steel case - couted
  • clipping indicator ( show you faulty tube or overload )
  • 8 power tubes  ( 4 per channel ) - PCL805
  • full automatic DC / AC servo biasing
  • multi match transfomers ( PIKATRON ) included
  • power output mode selector - OTL / match - transfomers
  • ALPS volume control
  • BALANCE pot. +/- 3dB
     -
  • 2 * NEUTRIK output combi headphone jackets - 6,3mm & XLR
  • 5 * inputs; 2 * RCA & XLR; 2 * RCA only; 1* RCA phono MM out
  • 1 * RCA - REC output, offer all connected soures and PHONO too for sec. line ( pre ) amps
  • 1 * pair XLR jackets for "power out" for power amps ( OTL output ratio: 10:1 )
  • 4 * isolated heavy gold plated stereo speaker terminals
     -
  • green illuminated main power switch for power ON mode
  • heating and plate voltage "soft start" circuit
  • headphone protector circuit
  • reversible heating / plate current limiter
  • installed OPA 134
  • highly accurate implementated stereo MM phono modul - "old school design"

OPTIONS:

1 - case color: standard - black or silver -
2 - "limited EDITION ivory white colored case" - hand selected parts < 1% tolerances and a lot of more expensive specails

Wow, does indeed look a bit of teh awesomeness......

Didn't see pricing.....any ideas or knowledge?

I think we just found the ugliest amp ever made.  RSA looks classy and restrained compared to this...

Forgot about that one but this is still fuglier.

It may not be the ugliest amp ever made, but it sure is the ugliest I've ever seen.
