After almost three and a half months, the KGST is finally in operation, and is sounding great. Thanks to all who have responded to my questions and given guidance. I am really surprised at  how good t

  • Thanks to the NYC Spring Meet yesterday, I was motivated to finish casing up my KGST.  I'm very happy with the result.  The chassis is 7" x 12.8". Perfect for my night table   Here's the beast in i

Gracias por vuestro agradable recibimiento. Thanks for your friendly welcome.

Hola Fernando ::)

I wasn't sure where else to ask, but am I isolating the mosfets from their heatsinks in the original BH build? With either thermasil or alum oxide isolator?

The sinks aren't connected to anything so you can use what ever you like.  I do ground them and use the alumina oxide to make it nice and safe.

i replaced philips 500v Capacitors with Jensen 500v   (PSU)  ,used dact for volume control.

i have some AMRG Resistor so i also used it.

Stay far away from that AMRG crap imo.  They alone are the reason 25% of the SRM-600's have failed while I've never heard of the TKD units failing in any of the other T1/006t amps.

you are right,spritzer. I have a SRM-600 i know it well( broken.... replaced....broken....replaced  :-[ )

and what about this?  the RM or RMG resistor. Is it having the same problem ?

Never used those.

thanks spritzer.i will replace it.

Having sold all three of my personal KGST's over the last few months I decided to put my foot down and make one I can' be talked into selling.  Use a pulled BH transformer that is 230V only (Justin might recognize this one), add a normal bias output and a lovely volume knob by Kevin.  :)

Damn that looks nice!  I can't wait to get my hands on mine.

;D

That knob really does make that amp stand out :D

Want! It'd be perfect if I can get some normal bias Lambda. Moreover you don't like black and I love it.

Looks like Antonio is angling for a package deal on the amp you won't sell and some Lambdas!

As if you could read my mind :D I wouldn't mind getting a pair of those sweet ole Sigmas too.

Inspiring work as always Birgir!

A new PS board?

I don't think even Antonio can make me sell this one.  :)  The heavily modified SRM-007t it replaces will be sold soon though...

A new PS board?

It's the new PSU for the KGSSHV mini.  Same circuit, just new layout which is slightly smaller ,has better thermal management and is easier to build.  I use these in almost everything now and it is a cracking PSU.

But but but you said you didn't like black front plates  :indra:  OK, make another one for me then  8)
