Fuck in snow

You know it's bad when they call off a Duke vs. North Carolina basketball game.  That's what people in that neck of the woods LIVE for.

  • Same as every gay bar I've ever entered.

  • We lost power for about 12 hours which is nothing, all things considered, and we've got the generator/transfer-switch so it was really only out for 4 hours because I didn't feel like setting it all up

  • Side benefit of all the late snow, the ability to snowshoe with the kids.  Got andrew out for a little walk in the woods this afternoon.

They cancelled my school for today, though they did it pretty darn late.  I feel bad for couple of my colleagues as I know they'd been already on the road to work when the closing notice went out.

Home for the day with the kids. My wife is stuck in Florida until at least Friday night.

I just pray we dig out fast enough that school is open tomorrow. I am pretty sure that the federal government will be open (my work) and I have one of the more important briefs of my life to deliver. Doing all the work and having someone else deliver it would be really disappointing.

Hope you can at least get a sitter, Chris. That sucks.

My work called me within 30 seconds of my alarm going off for the "delayed opening" we had today. They called it off. An extra day to frolic in the snow! Or, perhaps, catch up on all the TV/napping/drinking I missed the past few weeks of moving.

**BRENT**

Snow shoveling sucks.

I sort of like it. Managed to get a first round of shoveling done when Daniel was taking a nap.

I also called one of the kids teachers and she's willing to come tomorrow if needed so I may be able to present after all.

Good news Chris.  I had a major meeting today get cancelled because of weather and I'm psyched.  I was going to be covering for someone else and potentially asked about topics that I am only tangentially involved in all wrapped up in a politically charged atmosphere.

I generally don't mind shoveling.  This isn't my favorite tho.  We're 1/4 done or so.  I keep hoping for industrious youth in a pickup to come offer to do it, but our road still hasn't been plowed.

my estimate is we got between 12 and 18" depending on where on the hill you check, with drifts up to 36".  And it's heavy dense snow.

Shovelling the driveway takes 3 shovels full for every blade width of clearance.

We got 14.5 inches here.  Easier to shovel this morning, now that it has rained all day the snow has gotten very heavy so all the procrastinators are paying for it around here.

We got maybe 5 inches here. I don't know what work got though. We were on the ragged edge of the storm.

My daughter says that Poughkeepsie is expecting two feet of snow today.

We have a lot of white stuff here too

But a lot of it has already burned off.

I just performed minimal car-digging-out.  Fortunately, there was not that much, the worst part was that I had to slog through icy-cold slush with every shovelful, to get the snow to someplace where it wouldn't inconvenience others.  Fortunately, I had boots on, so didn't really get icy-cold slush in my shoes.  But I still felt it.
