You know, if you distribute the computer to a bunch of slices (shaped like an ...I don't know... orange slices, perhaps?) and then buss them together and space them apart, the cooling would be scary good, wouldn't it?

Macbook Pro...in BLACK.

Not just black, Space Black!

Yes, this is the biggest part of the announcement that excites Dusty.

They should've called it Void Black or something.

It's a trick.  It's so off brand.

Black is back.

I noticed some interesting stuff... no native AV1 encode (decode only), no Thunderbolt 5 (yet), no Wi-Fi 7.

The lower prices are a good sign. Most of the MacBook Pros ars still unaffordable for a lot of people, though.

And thank goodness the iMac was updated... very welcome and good for those who were holding out.

We'll see in a few days whether the performance claims are verified by reviewers and new owners.

OK I want a 15" M3 Pro MacBook Air please. I guess that will come next year.

Update: I could be wrong about that, I was looking at the 16" prices, thinking it was for a 14".  All I saw at the B&H site was that it was a limited edition and the higher price.

Yeah yeah, I know I know, "that's what she said".

Yes, a 27" iMac isn't an extreme ask.

They haven't announced M3 updated MacBook Air, Mac Mini, Studio, or Mac Pro yet either, so it's possible more products are coming down the pipe in a few months.

It would make sense to put the new M3 Pro and Max chips in an updated 27" iMac as the performance gains appear to be very impressive in some apps.

Okay - not an apple person.

And it is an ad. But a really good one.

And not really fair using a really really good George Harrison song.

This is interesting. I have no read on how this thing is going to do in 5-10 years time. Could see it flopping hard, could also see it succeeding. Obviously the price is going to need to come down a lot, but the product does seem at least a little compelling.

🤷‍♂️

I can actually see its value, but for me the actual value is way less than its price.

I wish AAPL more success with their VR widget than The Zucc had with his.  I also wouldn't shed a tear if Zucc slipped and fell into the gaping maw of Halemaʻumaʻu.  I still have no interest in VR.  I'm mostly blind in one eye and I've learned that I can get motion sick.  My limited experience with VR gear has been meh at best.

Also I helped an elder Vineyarder buy herself a new MacBook Air this past week.  Apple makes it an absolute PITA to get a decent config.  They wanted to sell her a model with 8GB of unified RAM like it was 2010.  I was able to get her a configuration with 24GB (the max in an Air) and a 1TB SSD.  In classic Apple fashion the cost was more than some MBPs, but she loves the lighter form factor of the Air.  TBH, I don't blame her.

The Apple Macintosh turns 40 next week.

Funnily enough Apple has made a lot to make the present to look a lot like 1984 by giving a screen to everyone.

I don't know. It seems like a very cool toy, but priced at least 3x higher than what I'd pay.

That being said, once they allow for public demo sign ups I'm going to at least try it at the store.

Best review I’ve seen…

um yeah - this is what you want to see from the guy sitting across from you on the subway..
