April 4, 201115 yr On the other hand, it's also very much of a loose canon's paradise and some seem to get a sense of self importance in regards to how many posts they've made here and how rude they can be. Too bad as this site remains a good source of information at times! You don't really "get" HC if you think post-count matters here. It has nothing to do with self-importance. Most people on HC know each other and the familiarity breeds friendly irreverence. Non-friendly irreverence gets shot down because frankly if you did that in real-life, who wouldn't get shot down? Do you go into someone's house and start insulting him before you get to know him? I don't know what kind of info you're looking for here either, unless maybe you're looking for info on beer & spirits. If you're looking for opinions on headphone stuff, there's more than you can shake a stick at over at HF for that.
April 4, 201115 yr I will lighten the mood of this thread by stating that a Liter bottle of Flor De Cana Rum, Gran Reserva (7 years aged) is less than $7 in stores here in Nicaragua when, in the states, I have seen it for $20 minimum. I have been unable to find a bottle of Havana Club though. Anyway, I am drinking about five miles away from a volcano, waiting for my cousins to get ready for our next outing, listening to some music and thinking that life is fuckin awesome! On my next trip here, I want to listen to a Stax SR009 setup next to a fuckin live volcano!! Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out how to power the setup. I am thinking of somehow taking advantage of all the inherent energy in lava, but my noobness can't figure out how to achieve this feat. Also, hardy har har to the 17 jokes... the truth is, that's how long I am. Now you all know. EDIT: Dang it, I didn't state a unit of measurement. Oh well... April 4, 201115 yr Have you seen this SR-009 video? http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/13640147 Previously posted on other sites. Words are sometimes misleading... Ok, that's just porn for me. Construction is basically identical to the SR-007, driver enclosed in a resin frame but with the old Lambda style solder contacts. Box is the same design as the SR-Omega...
April 4, 201115 yr us geniuses are never understood in our timeI certainly don't understand me. Does that make me a genius?
April 4, 201115 yr A big chunk of change is getting ready to vacate my account what good timing - a smaller yet still substantial chunk of change was just mailed your way this morning
April 4, 201115 yr The money has left my account. I called ED and asked when we could expect delivery. At first he told me they would probably ship out on 4/20 or around that time, but he said to check the website because this is the most accurate date. Elusive Disc SR-009 If you look at the site now it says "Expected on: 05/06/11" so it looks like they are a bit late already. He told me they will be the first to get the phones in the US, they get them through Yamas. I asked if I could pick them up since Yamas is 30 minutes away from me, but to avoid taxes, they have to be shipped to IL then back to me That's all I know at this point.
April 4, 201115 yr I would love to see the manufacturing process on this beast. Those drivers look absolutely amazing....no PCB electrode this time. Looks like the SR-009 is a headphone that they went full scale assault on and this time it seems they had enough time to do it. Ok, that's just porn for me. Construction is basically identical to the SR-007, driver enclosed in a resin frame but with the old Lambda style solder contacts. Box is the same design as the SR-Omega... When the guy on the left adjusted the headphones it seems that only the headband moved up and down within the arc assembly and not the arc assembly itself. If that's the case then people with big heads won't look awkward with these on! Now it's the people with small heads that are going to have a huge gap between the headband and arc assembly. April 4, 201115 yr Getting away from paying the 10% CA state tax on $50,000 is a good move by my book Heck, with the money saved, somebody deserves a free pair! Edited April 4, 201115 yr by monsieurguzel

April 5, 201115 yr You know, Blubliss, if whatever state you are in ever does one of those 'retro-active charge-tax-to-online-purchases things, ....ouch. Edited April 5, 201115 yr by aardvark baguette
April 5, 201115 yr if your state starts doing a retro-active tax, i think you'll have better things to worry about, like the armed revolt and fires burning through the state capitol. one would hope. You're silly, they have the Terminator as their governor. Just give him a mini gun.
April 5, 201115 yr You're silly, they have the Terminator as their governor. Just give him a mini gun. Nope, we have Governor Moonbeam again!
April 5, 201115 yr I need to stop getting my news from a ten year old. They keep giving me these Justin Bieber updates when all I want to know is what's going on in the rest of the world!
April 5, 201115 yr Nope, we have Governor Moonbeam again! Is that Andy ascending to audio nirvana with his SR009 and T2 rig?
April 5, 201115 yr He may no longer be the Govenor, but mere details like that won't stop him ... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/arnold-schwarzenegger-announces-3d-governator-174327
April 5, 201115 yr Jim, sorry I was not online yesterday or else I would have been able tell you that you have a fully paid-up perpetual license to use CUNT© in its many and applicable phrasings, such as "sanctimonious cunt," "self-important cunt," or your proposed usage of "arrogant cunt." One of my favorite words, that cunt word; always gives me a chuckle. Nice to know that Jim has cunt clearance.
April 7, 201115 yr Hey, we're pretty good! Glad you got square so fast, Andy, and thanks again for taking that on.
April 7, 201115 yr Yep, thanks Andy for fronting us all! Now, to enjoy the last month of outdoors before the reclusive audio nirvana sessions commence.
April 7, 201115 yr Brilliant news. Time to do some more soldering, hell I might be able to finish the KGST before the SR-009 gets here...
April 7, 201115 yr One of my favorite words, that cunt word; always gives me a chuckle. Nice to know that Jim has cunt clearance. Oddly enough I'm only fond of using that word to describe men. If women make me angry I look for another word.
