September 1, 201114 yr I've enjoyed Austin and always been interested in what its like to see an actual F1 race. It looks like a good date too very possibly, so I'm interested. TX BBQ vs NC? I dunno about that...
September 1, 201114 yr NC is probably better but BBQ is good anywhere (unfortunately we don't have much BBQ in the city).
September 1, 201114 yr texas bbq is good, as long as you pretend they don't call it bbq, and just enjoy the tasty brisket.
September 1, 201114 yr NC is probably better but BBQ is good anywhere (unfortunately we don't have much BBQ in the city). Only if you think that vinegar is the best thing you've ever tasted.
September 1, 201114 yr Man... this sounds fantastic. Since it's over a year away, I'll optimistically hope to be in, but it'll be a big "maybe" for me. FWIW, vinegar based BBQ is a shame... brisket FTMFW! **BRENT**
September 3, 201114 yr How are you from a standing start Dinny? Hell, you gotta be better than Mark Webber at that. agreed
September 5, 201114 yr Indy offered everything they could, even adding a chicane last minute...it was entirely michelin's fault...they knew ahead of time about Indy's diamond ground track & they chose not to do the proper testing... I wasn't fond of the track that was designed (I still think it needs elevation changes), but the whole disastrous six cars racing had nothing to do with Indy...I was at the race... also, the Hulman-George family ain't hurting for money lol...it wasn't so much a financial issue as much as it was bernie trying to dick tony george around & tony not being in the position in which he needed to take any shit...the 500 & Brickyard both draw more people & money than any f1 race...they simply replaced it w/a motorcycle race... I'm still an f1 fan, obviously...but I think it's safe to say after watching what happened with Korea, Silverstone, Bahrain etc etc that bernie isn't comfortable unless he's callin' all the shots...
September 16, 201114 yr So, I'm very excited and the opportunity to host something for HC. I am in the perfect location with respect to the track location and the airport, meaning that we will run into very little traffic en-route. Unfortunately, I'm not close to much else That being said, we just need to plan accordingly. I have plenty of room and can easily house 20 or so people I'd think. All that I really require is convincing my wife that this is a good idea, whether that means a hotel for her and the kids, or a maid service afterwards On thing that would be helpful to know, even though we're a while off from this would be how long would people consider staying? What's the event schedule look like? I'd recommend at least one night downtown. Other options are Lockhart, the lake, brewery/distillery tours, etc.
September 16, 201114 yr I'd love to attend qually & get there early/stay late for the two other races usually held... but I just don't know what my schedule looks like yet...
September 16, 201114 yr As far as the event... Friday FP1 and FP2 (free practice), Sat FP3 and Quali, Sunday Race day!! I would be down for the lot being my first F1 race weekend in person. Cheers, mikey
September 16, 201114 yr I'm interested for sure. I'll broach the subject with my wife. It can be my Birthday present or something.
September 20, 201114 yr Author Marc, I'd be looking at arriving sometime Thursday with a departure of the Monday after the race, possibly Sunday night if need be. And because it is your generous offer making this possible, adjustments could be made in our schedule to make life easy for you. And I'll be happy to help financially or in any other way possible to make things cool for your family regarding this get-together. Just let me know how I can help. Mike
September 20, 201114 yr Marc, I'm of coarse available for airport trips and other driving tasks as well, and 7 can squeeze into my car, so that's 14 people with both our rigs. An alternative plan might be for Maryanne & kids to have a beach weekend and stay at my place.
September 20, 201114 yr An alternative plan might be for Maryanne & kids to have a beach weekend. Heh, I was thinking the same when Mike said he would help out financially. Edited September 20, 201114 yr by shellylh
November 17, 201114 yr well...the race has been pushed back a year... I'd rather go to the New Jersey Grand Prix now...
