Listen to one first. It's a nice sounding headphone. I had johns rev 1 for awhile and it was very nice, at times a bit lush but still detailed. Imagine a faster more detailed and overall tighter hd650. Rev 2's are popping up cheap used too.

I've heard it a couple of times now and like it. Of course, I don't actually need it. But that's a silly distinction.

I'm hoping to compare the LCD-2 and HE-500 in December thanks to John. I really like the HE-500 so far.

Audeze FR plot for the LCD-3 I purchased - for comparison purposes w what others have received.

Dinny, I didn't need it either, but succumbed to temptation as you may remember They're nice, but having Stax stuff, kind of redundant on the long haul. I'd go for the LCD-3

I just got a crazy idea, how about cramming some Stax drivers in the LCD-2 housing... Has anybody disassembled one of these with full internal pics?

just not keen on paying two grand to go LCD-3...think I'll try custom iems for a bit...see how much the LCD-4 are...

Most headphone companies don't show any FR data whatsoever....at least Audeze goes this far. But I agree that both channels would be preferable.

Purrin's data on his LCD-3s looked really good FWIW.

Completely OT but looking at purrins plots the hd800 sure looks pretty freaking good.

That's because they are freakin' good!

Would love to have another listen. Last time I remember them having a brighter tonal balance but I though they were speedy and imaged well.

In his thread he explains it is sandwhiched in between the existing cloth pieces. It is not visable from the outside.

As mentioned before, this would be a great mod for for those who listen to the LCD3 with Schiit products.

Don't know anything about the LCD-3, but if you're at all interested, there's been some good deals to be had on used LCD-2's. I bought a 3 week old pair for substantially under the original price. I wasn't a big fan of the originals, but I'm liking the r2 a lot.

If you take a piece of newspaper or magazine paper and wad it up and roll it back and forth between your hands for a few minutes, it gets very soft like toilet paper.

I dunno if that would be useful for a headphone mod, but it could be useful if you really needed some toilet paper.
