Wow. First off, thanks for reminding me that Debbie Harry was/is a major babe. Who can sing. I'll have to dig out an old LP or two. I liked her back in the day. Half a dozen pages ago, Grawk said t

  • Al, that one sentence posted on HeadFi would serve as both conclusive evidence and an act of war. Have (moar) fun!

  • Why are you dissing my wonderful collection of polka and 70's German porn music tracks? You are such a snob... We can at least agree that my 007's are a bit special given my OCD need to set them

So, should I get an LCD-2? I don't know why but I kind of want one.

Listen to one first. It's a nice sounding headphone. I had johns rev 1 for awhile and it was very nice, at times a bit lush but still detailed. Imagine a faster more detailed and overall tighter hd650. Rev 2's are popping up cheap used too.

Audeze FR plot for the LCD-3 I purchased - for comparison purposes w what others have received.

There are no data like empirical data.

Dinny, I didn't need it either, but succumbed to temptation as you may remember facepalm.png They're nice, but having Stax stuff, kind of redundant on the long haul. I'd go for the LCD-3 evil.gif

I just got a crazy idea, how about cramming some Stax drivers in the LCD-2 housing... grin.gif Has anybody disassembled one of these with full internal pics?

I'm hoping to compare the LCD-2 and HE-500 in December thanks to John. I really like the HE-500 so far.

Now that the HE500 is retailing for $699 it is a moar better deal!

It still bothers me that Audeze does not show both drivers on the graph. Just seems slightly slimy.

just not keen on paying two grand to go LCD-3...think I'll try custom iems for a bit...see how much the LCD-4 are...

Most headphone companies don't show any FR data whatsoever....at least Audeze goes this far. But I agree that both channels would be preferable.

Purrin's data on his LCD-3s looked really good FWIW.

Completely OT but looking at purrins plots the hd800 sure looks pretty freaking good.

Would love to have another listen. Last time I remember them having a brighter tonal balance but I though they were speedy and imaged well.

Welcome to the Team 'Paper Dampers'. Its a rather exclusive club, hope you have earned your badge. :)

That white toilet paper doesn't go too well with the brown zebra wood. But I think that there's a mod for that.

It is very exclusive. And dangerous. Lot of whackkos. wink.png

There is.

In his thread he explains it is sandwhiched in between the existing cloth pieces. It is not visable from the outside.

As mentioned before, this would be a great mod for for those who listen to the LCD3 with Schiit products.

Hmmm, I wonder if used toilet paper would sound better?

It would sound more organic....

Don't know anything about the LCD-3, but if you're at all interested, there's been some good deals to be had on used LCD-2's. I bought a 3 week old pair for substantially under the original price. I wasn't a big fan of the originals, but I'm liking the r2 a lot.

  • 2 weeks later...

Tried making a few posts in the LCD3 thread over on the "dark side." What a mistake. I'm sorry I bothered.

Anti-intellectualism reigns supreme over there. It reminds me of the the "Tea Party" mentality. Complex things are scary to the simple minded.

If you take a piece of newspaper or magazine paper and wad it up and roll it back and forth between your hands for a few minutes, it gets very soft like toilet paper.

I dunno if that would be useful for a headphone mod, but it could be useful if you really needed some toilet paper.
