Wild and Crazy Go Nuts!

  1. Started by Grahame,

I went out to the mailbox today, and heard a little rustling in the bushes next to the house. Knew immediately, and visually verified it was Momma Rabbit, who is a regular in the hood. I see her out grazing every night, and it makes for a country feel in the middle of Dallas... along with the squirrels, hawks (that love squirrels and rabbits), and the occasional bobcat, who loves anything furry, including household pets. Well, I step into the bushes trying to get Momma to move along, but, I think the babies were close by, and, perhaps her burrow (or one of) is next to my house - haven't yet checked. So, Raoul, http://home.swbell.net/pabbi/Raoul1c.jpg, goes out late …

For some reason my Firefox browser is running like crap as of late. I'm on a 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4, got 2 gigs of ram, I've defragged-run Tech Tool Pro and it still has been loading like molasses. I've ended up going back to Safari at the moment. I don't really have that many extras on mine, I've downloaded the latest and copied it over the old one... and no luck. I'm at the end of my rope. Any suggestions?

I can see myself looking back fondly at this post and wondering, " Could this be when it all went wrong?","When the wheels came off the cart?", "When I mislaid the 52nd card, loosened that screw, dropped that oar,.." What a wonderful memory that will be. Well, many of you already know me from NorCal meets as that whacko with the reel to reel and after spending a car ride at the end of CanJam 2009 with Jacob (what a charming and unassuming fellow) I just had to register and add my thoughtless and unimformed 2

Many of you are not as ancient as I, and may only know this as it is tagged onto movie titles, but one of the greatest comedic influences of the last 40 years is soon to be available again: I read these while in High School, and they helped make me the sick degenerate (but funny) bastard that I am. If you want to see the fetid little pool that things like Animal House, Saturday Night Live and countless others spawned in, check it out. Or not. I will be.

  6. So last week my vintage Mc2100 amp was shipped back from a recap, and when I hook it up the left channel doesn't play anything but some low-level hum noise. Subbing the Eico or Heathkit amps into the EXACT SAME setup works perfectly, so it must be the 2100, right? Wrong! Not 1 hour after dropping off the amp at the highly recommended local McAmp guy (that I found out about after the recap), I come to the striking realization: wait, didn't I have a bizarre channel-out problem with some interconnects and the AT-HA2002 a few years back? The center pin on the old-style HGA silver lace RCA Lok connectors was a bit too skinny, and for some reason wouldn't make internal conta…

Well it's been a tough week already so I decided to go out in my back yard, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset with my new best friend. He is not much on conversation but in his own way he has some entertaining anecdotes on life.

I know he's ugly but he's so sweet and friendly that I couldn't resist him at the animal shelter. Don't let his gruff, wild cat like looks fool you, he's the friendliest cat I've met. He starts to purr as soon as anybody enters the rooms he's in.

I have no idea why, I sure didn't do anything, but my cellphone is doing the weirdest stuff. The screen is flashing, it won't recieve service, and when I press a button, it makes a weird "shock" sound. It's like a Packard Bell computer without the huge tower. :'( Even sadder is this is the 3rd replacement in one year. Damn phone.

I thought you guys might want to be entertained by my short story I had to write for english class. Jesus Vs Godzilla All that could be heard was the sound of waves sloshing upon the rocky shore. The sun was rising in the Land of The Rising Sun, bringing light to another busy day in Tokyo. But this day was different. The sea floor rumbled ominously, and what looked at first to be a tsunami was actually a natural disaster of far more epic proportions. The scaly green monstrosity arose and began to stomp towards the city, Godzilla was ready to unleash his mighty wrath on the Japanese city yet again. "Gojirraaaa!" shouted the stereotypical, badly dubbed citizen…

  15. So, my son wants to go to CSU in Fort Collins like his mother, to study Biomedical Sciences (pre-med). Tonight he got an email offering him one of the 72 slots for freshmen in the program. It's gonna be strange with his sister going to a rival school, CU Boulder (Go Buffs, Go Rams, Go Buffs, Go Rams!). At least there's only one year of overlap before she graduates. I had dreams of them sharing a car and apartment for that year, but CU Boulder would make him live in the dorms his first year anyway, so part of that plan wouldn't have worked. I went to Texas A&M at the same time that my older brother went to Texas University (we Aggies can't call it University of Te…

  16. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I had ordered a Thorens turntable from an e-bayer. The table (from the pics) looked to be in good order. I "sniped" the table at around $150. I was filled with excitement! I pleaded with the seller to disassemble it for shipping. But, alas, I guess to save money, he did not. When the table arrived, everything seemed alright. But I immediately noticed the idiot refused to listen to me when I pleaded with him to remove the platter from the main unit and pack it separately. Having room to move about, the platter completely sheared off the pulley system from the motor. I was both angry and sad. Worst of all, the table was sold AS-IS. …

  20. Portland-based power metal band Tanagra is having a fire sale on all their recordings (they just put out an extremely well-received album) and merch following a trademark dispute filed against them by the Swiss audio company Nagra. This seems frivolous AF but what do I know? Can any bearded lawyer types like @Voltron weigh in on what would be involved in disputing the dispute? I have a hard time imagining that a judge would side with Nagra on this but it seems like the band has no interest in spending the cash to fight it. vs. Their press release: It's David vs Goliath! I'm going to be up in Nashville tomorrow for a couple nights and was wondering if anyone else if going to be around (CMA Awards are on Wed.)? Any suggestions on things to see/do? Looking for a nice place to eat downtown on Wednesday then maybe head down to Tootsies. Hoping Willies will be there.

  22. I'm giving thought to selling my touch.I haven't used it in about a month, and daddy needs an exhaust for his (pending) new bike. I have my mac with me all day at school, and I'm probably going to pickup a shuffle for workouts. I don't know if I need my touch anymore.

  23. Once again this year I'm prepping to ride a century in support of the Kelly Brush Foundation. Between indoor Zwifting, the MTBs, and the upgraded Canyon this spring I'm creeping up on 3,000 miles in preparation this year and will surpass that mark before the event. Once again this year it'll be an in-person ride up in VT, with friends mostly coming from near-by so we should have a strong crew of 8 with some riding the 50 and most doing the full 100 miles. For me this is the 11th century that I've done in support of either Northeast Passage or Kelly Brush and I'm looking forward to enjoying it and hoping that our trend of good weather continues. So the mission remain…

  24. This year marks a return to form (hopefully) and therefore I'm prepping to ride the full century in support of the Kelly Brush Foundation. The effects of the tick bite appear to have waned since around Christmas so I've been training hard, mixing in quite a bit of mountain bike riding as well as other non-bike-related exercise and actually doing a little weight training. It appears to be paying off. For those that don't know, the Kelly Brush Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting individuals with spinal cord injuries in finding ways to get out and enjoy an active lifestyle. For me, this is a cause close to my heart. I love the outdoors a…

  25. Once again this year I'm prepping to ride a century in support of the Kelly Brush Foundation. Between indoor Zwifting, the MTB, and multiple road bikes I've been pounding (or is it prancing?) on the pedals this year. I've amassed some 2,600+ training miles already with a goal of getting as close to 3,000 before the event as possible. This year marks a return to the in-person ride up in VT, with friends mostly coming from near by to do this as a group as safely as possible. For me this is the 10th century that I've done in support of either Northeast Passage or Kelly Brush and I'm looking forward to enjoying it. A bit about KBF - they are a non-profit organizatio…
