Wild and Crazy Go Nuts!

  1. Once again this year I'm prepping to ride a century in support of the Kelly Brush Foundation. Between Zwifting as required by the rainiest spring in history, the MTBs, and getting outside as much as possible this summer I'm piling on the miles in preparation this year and should in proper form before the event. Once again this year it'll be an in-person ride up in VT, with friends mostly coming from near-by so we should have a strong crew of 8 with some riding the 50 and most doing the full 100 miles. For me this is the 12th century that I've done in support of either Northeast Passage or Kelly Brush and I'm hoping the recent trend of good weather continues. So the …

  2. So it's that time of year once again where I call upon the incredible generosity and support of this community to help me raise money for the Kelly Brush Foundation. Nate's Donation Page This year is no different than years past, in early September my friends and I will gather in Middlebury, VT to join 800 or so riders for the event. We should have an even bigger team this year with my friend Paul returning from a two-year stint in Poland so it'll be fun to get the whole band back together that started participating in events nearly 20 years ago. For me this is the 13th year of active participation after a few early years of serving as an event photographer. A…

  3. Once again this year I'm prepping to ride a century in support of the Kelly Brush Foundation. I have (quite literally) been training my ass off and started the year with a goal of riding more than 2,020 (get it?) miles before the event. Well, I've truly exceeded that and am currently sitting at ~2,300 with a few more weeks to go before the ride. Of course, as most things have gone in 2020, this year's event will be quite different from the past with no formal large gathering in VT. So the group of us that have done events like this for the last 10 years are going to get together and ride a socially distant event all the same. For those that don't know, the Kell…

As you know, I'm banned from headfi for another 9 days. However I'm in the middle of writing up a mini-review & impressions of some speakers I've heard lately, and I need to pull up some of the posts I've written on head-fi. The google search doesn't pull up the posts I need. Here's what I need. I've posted impressions of the Dynaudio Audience 72SE, the Sonus Faber Concerto, and the B&W 804, most of it is in a thread started by mulveling in the cable forum on head-fi, with a few bits scattered around various other threads. I intend to expand on those posts, add in the impressions of the new speakers I've heard, and put it up as a new post in our speaker forum. …

  5. Sorry for the lengthy post to follow, but I took the 2008 Outlook in today for a noisy power steering pump, and ended up test driving a 2008 Infiniti G35x all wheel drive that I really liked. I'd really appreciate some advice from you level-headed people about maybe buying it, or not. I didn't want to clog up the "last thing you bought" thread with this, but that was where we talked a little about a "next car" recently and got me started. The G has 31,450 miles and has most options except navigation, and very nice new Michelin all season tires that look like they'd be good on the occasional snow we get here. And I got them down from $28,988 to $27,500 + $2,000 cash-…

  6. Hey guys i saw a thread of someone asking for an invitation for BTMusic tracker and I am in need of one so if anyone could help me I would apreciate it . I can offer an invite for demonoid.com in exchange. Thx a lot !

  7. I am working on a little project and need to buy a 320-500gb external hard drive. Most of my usual sources seem to charge $50 and up, I would prefer $30 to $40. Thanks all. Greg

I met this girl and we had been dating for a couple of weeks. I'm not really sure if it is going to work out into a steady relationship. I like her, but I'm not sure if she is the right girl for me. I know Valentines day is right around the corner. If I don't do anything special like taking her out to dinner that weekend, do you think she will dump me? I'm not against going out to dinner, but I am just concerned that it might ramp up expectations. I hope I don't sound like a loser.

EDIT: There is a pay phone here. We are going to try to get enough change together to call ourselves. Please hold until you hear from me again. ---- Until yesterday afternoon, I was doing a 5 day dual sport motorcycle ride. Unfortunately I had a big crash on a dirt road. I'm basically OK but almost certainly have broken ribs and am in no shape to continue riding. The crash was at the end of the day and I was able to make it to here, which was where we were planning to stay the night. This is in the middle of nowhere just south of Death Valley. Of course, there is no cell coverage. As you can see from this, I do have access to a computer. I emailed Stacy …

  16. I thought twice about posting this here since it became a bit long, but it's something I just wrote in my blog with my thoughts about this issue. I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately, and this text just contains my reflections on the subject. I know you guys are not very much into long texts - as I've learned in my JH13 review -, but I hope I can be excused since this isn't a review and to me it's a rather complex issue, so drying it out would probably make it less successful in expressing what's complex to me. I posted this here in the off-topic since that way, if no one becomes interested, it can simply become lost in oblivion or deleted. Still, if anyone…

I work in a residential facility of nine apartment buildings on a golf course and spend much of my day walking around annoying the patients. Many stray cats live on the golf course and come around mooching at night. They are almost all feral and impossible to tame. We know them all and the patients have names for them. Today, a cat I've never seen before starting following me around from building to building. I'd go in one for a hour or so and he'd be waiting for me outside the door of whatever apartment I'd been in and follow to the next one. I go in the office and he'd be waiting outside again and start meowing whenever I appeared. He must know a sucker when he sees one…

A Christmas Idea Apple announced today that it has developed a breast implant that can store and play music. The iTit will cost $499 or $599 depending on cup size. This has been hailed as a major breakthrough because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.

Hello All! I finally got fed up with the thought police over at Head-Fi, so I posted a farewell message saying goodbye and a little on why I was leaving. Nothing defamatory, just saying that I could not tolerate the moderators arbitrary enforcement of the rules and their deleting things just because they could. I then logged off. I went back to read any responses to my farewell (as a guest), and the f----ers deleted my farewell message. Oh?well. So here I am. I?ll see how things go here. Only time will tell whether the members here can tolerate me or not. Does this mean that I can?t go to the National? \

I was going to start this thread a few times, and think of doing so every time I find something I use daily or near daily, and it makes me very very happy each time, like my JH13s and ipod, or Tabasco Sauce. Can be a little nothing, like Tabasco Sauce or something big that you don't regret spending the money on, even if it made you wince to do so at first. Anyway, I've lately come across some things that may even have been around for awhile, but I can't believe how happy they make me every time I use them. Here are a few of my new favorite things: Moisture wicking clothing! Why didn't anyone tell me about this stuff before? I'd been working out in any old cott…
