Having a pair of closed headphones that I really like would be very useful for a long lasting happy relationship with my husband. I really like the sound of the JH13's but don't really like having IEMs stuck in my ears. I have been really enjoying my "new" Stax setup (404LE + KGSS) so the natural question is whether I should get a pair of 4070's. My main concern: fit. Having a woman's sized head, being that I am a woman, can be a problem. Oh yeah, and they are not exactly cheap but it would be worth the cost if it was something that I really used a lot. I assume that $1700 from Woo Audio is about the best price I am going to get. Any comments?

Hello, I'm considering buying the akg k242's. Does anyone own or tried these cans and if so, what did you think? They retail for $279, any other brands in the $250-$300 price range that are better? Thankyou for your time and consideration, Newtuber

Ultrasone Edition 10 Headphones are $2700! - I4U News Ultrasone Offers First Open Back Headphone - Gearlog [H]ard|OCP - $2,750 Headphones Read the comments thread if you have a little time. Screenshots | [H]ard|OCP ^^ Large, sexy picture. It's a big enough picture I didn't do IMG code in case it broke H-scrolls. Google it. It's all over the Internet. I know the brand has a fairly good reputation but that's about it. That kind of price tag makes me want to run and hide under my bed. So which of you brave souls are going to take the plunge on these?

Well I finally got my system complete with the M^3 and I just don't like/find my system to sound anything special. Right now I have an Northstar 192 MKI and the M^3 using the laptop as a transport. I had the HF2 but it looks I'm not a grado person and for the reasons stated I sold it. Since I just got the M^3 I'm willing to give the system another try with a new headphone before I sell everything. I'm open to your suggestions.

Sony released these back in April: The MDR-RF4000K: Also, the MRD-RF810RK (which looks to already be superceded by something). What caught my attention was one particular spec: 2.4GHz. That's the digital transmission. So I'd be curious if anyone heard this, or if we have a serious contender for a wireless headphone yet.

Just curious. Please no flaming...I'm new. I was wondering if anyone had seen or heard of fake/knockoff Monster Miles Davis Tribute earphones. I did a search and there doesn't appear to be a lot of talk or forum posts about it. Anyone else know? Thanks, J.

A few months ago I decided to invest in a decent pair of headphones, and bought the Sennheiser HD 555 after all the good reccomendations. I've used them for a few months now and have been fairly dissapointed with them, they sound dull and lack in bass. I listen to most genres of music but in particular hip-hop; which I find these headphones are not all that suitable for. So I am now thinking of selling my Sennheiser's and getting another pair, with are more suitable for me, with my budget being anything under $150. Any reccomendations? Would the Grado SR60i/Audio Technica ATH-AD700 be good choices? Thanks

...and I get the urge to try something better. They need to be single-ended and will be driven by a WA2. Tesla T1's? LCD-2's? HD800's? I have no clue which ones will play nicely with this amp, but I'm really after something that will be a bit more fun to listen to without sacrificing details and resolution. In technical terms, this probably means low end frequencies that don't fall off as much as the 650's (that's one of my main gripe's). I have no clue though, as I'm not nearly as technical as the large majority of people here, however I do know what I like and dislike. I love the HD-650's but have the urge to try something different. Commence ball busting, I'…

While my O2 was off getting a new cable and pads installed, HighEnd Workshop in the UK did a fantasic by the way and cost less than Yamasinc including shipping, I started looking at dynamics/orthos that have come out since 2006. Now with the O2 back on my head I just don't see a rival coming along I started with the Concerto, ya ya I know, and the HE-5LE. Nice for a dynamic rig but no. Brought in the Senn 800... no. Beta22... no. Still holding out for the LCD-2, maybe T1 but whats the joke? Off topic, something finally made its way to between two pins on one of the output transistors of my KGSS and burnt/arced for a while and left a nice ding in the top layer …

I've often promised to write reviews, but have never followed through. This, then, represents my first-ever attempt to write a full review of an audio product. Setup: I'm at Todd's in Three Forks MT. The T50's are plugged into an awesome system consisting of a Meridian G08.2 CD player, APEX Peak and Volcano headphone amp and power supply, with Cardas Golden Reference cables. Summary: Worst headphones ever. Really bad. Nothing good at all, and I really tried to like something, anything, about them. Shrill, hollow, muffled, tinny sounding like you have pillows over your ears. Thing is, this particular pair is well broken in with over 100 hours on them. The…

So the OII's arrived, which makes the question of an appropriate amp more urgent all of a sudden. With Stax SRD-7 MkII powered by my heavily modded Bottlehead 3 watt 2A3 SET and 5 watt Almarro single-ended pentode, I can get sound that satisfies me enough with HE60 and HE Audio through various tube/capacitor/cable rolling. OII's give me that magical single-ended intimacy through this setup, but the bass suffers a lot, both in quantity and impact, much more than the other 'stats I have. So what 'stat amp would power all these 'stats convincingly without breaking the bank? Woo GES/WES, eXStatA, or get a better transformer box with bigger amp? I have never q…

I just got a pair of Yamaha YH-1000 given to me by my father. I understand they are special. I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD 600s, FWIW. One channel is very week and distorted-but plays-and the foam needs replaced on both ear pads. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about fixing either problem? I can solder and am an adventurous DIYer. Thanks for your help.

Anybody likes to make a recommendation what to try next? I am mostly listening to metal, guitar oriented rock, singer/songwriter and occasional country. I really need good mids, both for the guitars (enough punch) and for voices (actually hear what's going on). Here's my history of headphones: Current favorites: DT-770, but a little too boomy, in particular at high volumes. Like the closed sit and general quality. Not enough punch in the area where distorted guitars sit. Runner up: Proline 650, but too microphonic, not really comfortable, too much noise to the outside and a little thin sounding. Sennheiser HD-250 (not II): best with distorted guitars among what I …

Some years ago I bought a Micro Seiki MX-1 with energizer. The problem with those is that the material that was originally used for the diaphragms deteriorates. As a result it is impossible to find a pair that still works unless the diaphragms have been replaced. The pair that I bought had a new pair of diaphragms but they were not mounted correctly so I finished the job and got them to work. The problem with them is that because of incorrect mounting of the membrane on one of the mounting rings, which has insufficient tension, one of the two sides has a bit less volume and sounds a little less dynamic. Despite that fact they are still a pleasure to listen to. They sound …

Just got mine from Smegs. Spent about an hour getting on the O2 mk2 pads. We're in business. The craftsmanship is fantastic; this is a beautiful pair of headphones. Oh, and they sound kickass, too. EDIT: the wood is African Blackwood.
