  1. God is Good< I appreciate your clicking open this thread. Hello There, Folks of the planet. LOL, This will be my very first review of the K701. God willing, the following words you see will satiate your mind with Food for thought, of the Fast food TYPE! God willing, it will satiate you sooo well, that you WILL read this REVIEW OUT LOud, vocalizing the following descriptions of THE AKG k701 in beautiful song - with or without having the k701 itself - in ways that only the Planet's best Soprano can. Well, never mind. Not only are there plenty descriptions of the K701 out there, and NOT ONLY do I have equipment in my audio chain, that may or mAY NOT even be …

  2. Started by runnin17,

So I read through EdipisReks' thread here, but I have already brought back one thread from the dead and decided better of it this time. So here is a new thread. Just got the MB Quart QP55x's yesterday. Got them through eBay for $45 shipped. Brand new, unopened box. I mainly got them for the velour pads to put on my Sextett's. Anyway, currently I have been listening to them and so far I am impressed. Build Decent quality, not as high quality as AKG or Senn's; but they should hold up to plenty of abuse. All plastic and retro looking. I won't say that they look "cool", but c'mon does that really matter anyway. The cord is higher quality than any Rat Shack cord, but n…

  3. Started by blubliss,

Check out the state of my R10s after I got them back. I am pretty sure they were like this before they went out on loan. The foam has completed melted/congealed into a sticky mess on the wood around the drivers. There is even a bit on the driver grills. I sent these pics to Alex to see if he was willing to resurrect them. I can get new pads and foam from Mikhail. Please let's have a moment of silence for the speedy recovery of my R10s .

  4. Started by recstar24,

What options are currently out there for hi end iem's? I do not want to bother going through the HF thread. Please chime in if you have any thoughts or experiences to share. All I am aware of are the UE customs.

  5. Started by d_rayman,

I am very curious about the LA7000 from Markl but can't find any reviews of it from our members. Anyone tries it?

From the private collection of John Grado. Serial # JAG8. I think Billy should buy them.

Victor unveils a new headphone that has DX1000 technology in a more affordable package, estimated to be around 65,000 yen. They mention direct mounting of driver to housing, radiata pine, neodymium driver, acoustic lens, the same stuff from DX1000. Will it be a straight downgrade, or a different tuning? 8. I put this under a separate thread with the understanding that the audience for this thread might be a 100% exclusive union with the orthodynamic thread, because it's really a separate issue, and is not necessarily an issue indigenous to orthodynamics. blah blah blah future audience growth potential blah blah blah So without preface, let me start with my fundamental question: Why felt? I mean, there are other materials that are flexible and dense at the same time -- corduroy, for example, or perhaps certain dense weaves such as linens or velvet. And I ask not to question felt's supremacy, but rather as a learning exercise. What is it about felt that makes it s…

  9. Started by Col11,

Hi was wondering if anyone can give me some advice? I have a pair of Stax Gamma Pro and SRD7SB that I have had for many years, but have not used them for a long time as the thin diaphrams of the Gammas Developed holes in many years ago reducing the volume and freqency response (I had a look inside). Also the headband if broken. I have recently found out after after all these years doing some research that this was the wrong type of adaptor for these Gamma Pros, - the SRD7SB being a "NORMAL" type 6 pin adapter and the Gamma Pros being a "PRO" type 5 pin connection which require different bias voltages. The shop that originally sold the adaptor and headphones to my D…

see bottom of page I've actually known about these since October, but missed the fact that it was public information.

  11. Started by Mercuttio,

So if I... Oh God, I can't even believe I'm asking this... If I were to hunt an HP2, does anyone know of a secret stash of them selling for something south of $1,500?

  12. Post POST? Wtfruitcake? It was 2007(damn, 2009 already? damn), and I just HAD to get me a K701. Being that God is too great, I got them!!! Being that God is even GREATER THAN THAT, I had the DT 880'250'05 on hands to compare the TWO headphones at the same time...which resulted in the K701 being sold after 220-250(I forget, Sowwy) hours of conventional and pink noise burn-in. Well, WHY did I sell them so soon? Not only did I find the K701's soundstage less natural than the DT 880's(albeit, noticeably bigger than the latter can's soundstage), but the bass heft was seriously missing in the AKG TOTL can. As a born-to-play video gamer. Did I find this lack of lo…

I just saw this at Audiocircles, thought I would post a link to the new headphones coming that they claim will rock the headphone world: Headphones sneak preview If this is old news, sorry.

Has anyone heard/bought the final version? Was it worth the wait? How does it fare against the competition?

  15. Started by DannyB,

I have a KGSS and SR007 Mk2. I usually leave my KGSS on all the time. Is it best to leave the headphones plugged into the KGSS all the time to allow full charge or to just plug them in a little while before a listening session?

  16. Started by DannyB,

In general, when a headphone amp is on should it have a load:Specifically, headphones plugged in as is usually required of speaker amps having speakers connected?

Here's his other reviews. Third column is how much he likes the sound, out of 5. http://www.geocities.jp/mister_terch/MemoMain.html Then this other guy goes and gives it another 4/5. http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.jp%2Fryumatsuba%2Fhp-aurvn-lv.html Even given listener bias, I think it's pretty clear this is a nice contender in the $100ish closed category, at least worth a good listen. 18. Started by naamanf,

I am getting ready to come home in about a month and have to start mailing my gear home. I figure rather than have it sit around, it might was well get some use. I have already offered up the Buffalo and currently have: SWT61->Augsburger->Deepak. The Buffalo will be set up for SPDIF use only. I was hoping the guys at TP would have had the MUX ready by now but no such luck. The Buffalo is in a beat up Par-Metal case so it isn't much of a looker but should give an idea of the sound. The other item for loan is the HE 1.2B. This obviously would require a pro-bias amp or transformer set up with a Stax pro-bias jack. I say each person could try the items fo…

  19. I just received confirmation from Drew/Moon Audio that he will be bringing the HD 800 and Ultrasone ED8. So, if you're in the general area come check out these new cans and meet Joe Grado. 20. APureSound received a damaged Sony 10 headphone, but this story is just the beginning. Let me just say a company most everyone knows made a HUGE f-up tried to hide it lying to the customer ect. Well worth the read. I would just post here, but too much effort redoing everything. Click on the image below to read more!

Anyone? They're closed, so I am, of course, curious. Stereophile has a review of the MS 400 in the current issue. The red makes it moar bettar. But I, of course, am interested in the moar black PS 500.

  22. Started by aardvark baguette,

I'm enjoying my e.530s recently, which has got me thinking about Ultimate Ears customs (UE10 and UE11) again. Has anyone heard both?

  23. I wonder if these headphones can do well with Japanese music. Ultrasone PRO750 & ED.9 Fail. Denon Marklblabla Fail. Sennheiser HD600 & HD650 Epic Fail. Grado RS-1 Fail. Audio-Technica W5000 & AD2000 Fail. AKG K701 Fail. Alessandro MS-Pro Epic Fail. Etymotic ER4S Pass.

  24. Would these sound half decent as a system? I listened to K 701's a long time ago and kind of thought they sounded like ass*. Would having killer power on these babies do anything for them, or do they still sound like ass after "burn-in" and Nuculer Power. * ass as in they could not rock out. They were very dull sounding, even after about 1,000 hours of burn-in when running out of my amp. The sins of the K 701, in my opinion, are sins of omission. Perhaps Wes Phillips' ears are made of tin...

  25. Started by Tony,

Hi Guys, I'm antonyfirst. Since before end 2006 my Headfi account didn't even exist, I'll probably change my name to Tony. A friend of mine is deciding wether to balance his L3000 or not. Knowing how much better the Sennhesiser HD600 and HD650 become in balanced mode, I am very curious about what improvements can benefit the L3000. Let me know, and let's hope Headfi will get back in a good shape. Tony
