The WAT? Ya rly. After asking about cable ties in the "Whatchoo bought?" thread, I concluded that this topic needs further discussion in its own, less scrollerrific thread. There's two distinct subjects here: #1 Keeping cables that are in-use from taking over everything in sight. I'm not so good at this. The back of my headphone/computer rig looks like a Moog modular on steroids, and my HT rig even scares Cthulhu. I'm curious if any H-Cers are successful in keeping the upper hand over their interconnects. Maybe I should call this Post A Picture of [the back of] Your Rig. #2 Keeping cables that are not currently in use sorted. I wear several hats: computer ge…

Just thought I'd post this link to the announcement that WE will once again produce more 300B's and perhaps some more tubes at a new facility in Georgia. If anything else, it should keep scalpers from driving up the prices of the ones on the market now. http://timesfreepress.com/news/2013/jun/23/western-electric-plugs-into-rossville/

Some random at the other place wrote a review on some seemingly well-constructed cables off of eBay. I was most pleased to see the can't-argue-with price of $18 and $20 for them, considering they have the requisite magic wire, dielectric etc. Thought you guys and girls might like link (to the seller, not the review). I think I'll blow the grand sum of $50 on a pair of each (inc. shipping to Japan) and see what they can do for me compared to my more expensive magic wire.

Looking to up the ante on isolation for my Technics 1210 turntable. Anyone have thoughts on this: AudiogoN ForSale: edenSound MyrtleMat I was thinking to put some sort of vibration absorbing feet under the above platform, and then spike cones under the turntable. Open to thoughts and comments. Cheers Pete

I was looking for some NOS tubes and sent a few emails out. The responses have been more than a bit puzzling. Is it now the norm to have customers place the order without knowing what brand of tubes he can expect to receive? Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but I'd kinda like to know what brand of tube I'm actually going to be receiving BEFORE I place the order. Is this now how the tube vendors operate? Is it accepted that Sylvania, RCA, Tung Sol, etc....are all pretty much the same so who gives a flip? All of a sudden, SS is looking pretty good to me again. Someone want to make a beta22 for me?? \

I know these are still pretty new but has anyone tried one yet: http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=S15 ?? My power here is pretty bad, it's not particularly dirty but during the summer the voltages will often drop below 100. I figure something like this could be quite useful for brownouts and the like.

I am going to buy a set of 1ft XLR(m)-XLR(f) cable from Blue Jeans Cable to connect my ECD-1 to my HR BUDA. The options are Belden 1800F or Canare L-4E6S Star Quad. Any reason to go for one or the other for such a short run? They are both close to the same price, I guess the Star Quad is a tiny bit more. I have seen that a lot of DIY people use the Star Quad for their cables (along with Mogami) but perhaps that is because it is more readily available and/or easier to work with than the Belden? My impression is that it is not going to make much of a difference which I buy and to just go for the Belden since it is slightly cheaper. Any thoughts? *My amp for now…

I was looking at the Shunyata Research Venom 14 power cables (for my CD player) when I came across these videos. Looks like you can really dive down the rabbit hole on this stuff – my system is already connected to a PS Audio Duet. Thoughts?

I don't have enough experience to answer, but I'm curious to see what others think. Let's keep this friendly...who am I kidding (I will be setting up a double blind cable test to see how I do, right now I'm trying to find a Nordost Blue Heaven RCA cable to pit against a cheap Monster IC)

Need something to use with my surface pro 4 (usb or something wireless). I also have a cheap 1 square inch usb dac that I can plug in a 1/8" Jack for headphones and mics. Purpose is to record talks, presentations, lectures etc while I present/write on the surface pro. I currently have a zalman zm1 mic from my gaming days that I am currently using but I have to hold it to my face the whole time which is unprofessional and well, after holding the mic there for ~2 to 3 hours, my arm cramps pretty bad (it doesn't have a clip that I could use to clip it to my shirt/lapel). Google search has led me to mics and receivers and Wi-Fi extenders and god knows what else. Budget is $30…

I'm looking for some help with what I think is a building electrical issue. Just picked up a pair of SR-002s from Justin. I've noticed an annoying hum in the right channel whenever I listen at my desk, but not when I listen in the bedroom (i.e. it's not the headphones). The hum is loudest when the SR-002 is connected to my gamma2 -> Mac (doesn't matter if the Mac is plugged in or not), but it doesn't go away when I disconnect the SR-002 amp from the gamma2, or even when I disconnect the SR-002 headphone cable from the amp. As in, I can hear a fricking hum even when I'm wearing headphones plugged into nothing at all. I've never heard this hum with my other Stax but I g…

The two receptacles in the wall by my computer and assorted audio equipment are both quite poor. They're at least 25 years old and don't hold plugs well anymore. I'm looking for some quality replacements. I balk at the idea of paying $100+ for boutique audio outlets, but I don't want $3 pieces of junk either. There must be some middle ground in the market. Any suggestions on brands, models, and where to look would be muchly appreciated.

Have any of you heard of or used this place? I guess it's in Vietnam. The guy has some ridiculous nice tubes but his prices are outrageous. Audiophile I would love some of those metal base sylvania 6SN7s . Doubtful i would make the leap though.

I'm thinking of getting a small stand for my dac/amp. My desk is quite small and I have to stack up the amp and dac. S2 audio has the stand like that but their site went dead I've just contacted Steve regarding this but still need some ideas to have a nice one. My amp is quite big and heavy (the Littledot mk vi) while the dac is small (dac1). Of course the amp will be on top of the dac. I just wonder if there's any small stand like that? No need for exotic looking, only as strong and durable as possible cos I don't want the amp falls off on my dac

Allow me to rant a bit. I posted this message on headfi, but Ken quickly had the administrators delete it. Why? All I was doing was sharing my experiences there, what were two of the worst customer service experiences I've had in audio. In this post i will share one of them. I bought an HD800 cable, 8 foot, that cost me over $500. I tried to balance it but I messed up. I then tried to convert my balanced cable using its HD800 connectors but again I screwed up. So now I took all the ends off and decided to just send it to ALO to be repaired. I put a note in the package explaining the situation and saying I will pay for their time. Next thing I know, it is a few day…

Can you recommend me the best one for use with pc to USB vibrator I am a golden-eared slut, and my orgasms with the Locus Design USB cable possess certain degree of harshness. I would like them to be smoother with bigger soundstage, more relaxed and maybe a bit more detailed.
