  1. Did an update the forum software today biggest noticeable change is the 'Leaderboard' tab shows users with top posts and the most popular content. I believe it's to help increase discover ability or something. The other major change is that the site is now completely served over HTTPS. This includes embedded content and images. For most services it'll automatically pull in from HTTPS url's if the service supports it. If the content can't be pulled from HTTPS the forum software will download the content and serve it via an internal proxy script. Main reason for the later is to avoid browsers mixed-content warnings.

  2. I was hooning in the 911 and managed to offend the delicate sensibilities of one of the active drivetrain mounts. This is now being replaced (under warranty, thankfully.) Kinda cool engineering ...

  3. Hey guys, @justin and I are excited to make our first offer on the burgeoning deal site Massdrop: it's the Original HeadAmp Pico DAC/Amp! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/headamp-pico-portable-dac-amp Get in soon, to save up to 50% off the retail price of $499. This is a limited-time, limited quantity deal, and once the Picos at this price are gone, they're gone. The Pico DAC/Amp uses an ASRC to upsample signals of 16/44 and 16/48 to 24/96 before converting them with a well-regarded Wolfson DAC chip. The Pico DAC works without drivers on Windows and Macs, and works on some Apple iOS products when paired with a camera connection kit, and select Android devices with an OTG cable (have used successfully with Samsung Galaxy S4, and Note 4). The Pico DAC/Amp also accepts analog signalson its' 3.5mm input jack, making it simple and easy to pair with DAP's and smartphones. The two-way gain switch allows the amp to comfortably drive low-impedance IEM's all the way up to high-impedance cans like the Sennheiser HD600 series. Featuring HeadAmp's legendary fit, finish, and attention to detail, the Pico is a work of both art and science, designed to give you great sound for years to come.

  13. All this talk of R2R DACs pushed me to future proof my setup. Just bought a DAC with PCM1704s and PMD100, so now I can relive HC circa 2010. I still also have my Parasound DAC1100 I bought from a member here, which uses PCM63s.

  16. I picked up the Utopia recently, echo John's comments regarding sound. This weekend I was at a local dealer's, they had the Elear and Utopia out for listen. Indeed, not exactly the same sound signatures. Elear is still quite good at $1k, but Utopia is definitely more refined, better highs, more balanced overall, and more transparent. The bass on the Elear seemed fuller, but the Utopia is MAYBE as deep but definitely a bit more controlled IMO. EDIT: BTW, driven by an Arcam CD player, so source wasn't up to snuff. Told them they should put in a new source or set up a good DAC. So my observations could even be understated.....

  17. Wow this looks like it is really coming together!! I would expect that at least I would spend part of a day at CanJam. I lost a my 13s a few weeks back and likely will just go JH13 but really wanted to explore all options. I know a stop at Other Half brewing will be in order, it is right off the subway although it is not s short subway ride. Kings County Brewing Collective is another great new stop (had their beer but not been to the Bushwick brewery). Other Half's tasting room is tiny so getting there early in key!
