  1. Here is something new that I might make more of... the SMD KGSSHV. This is really my attempt to build a "cheap" electrostatic amp to bring a great amp to the masses. Lofty goal and I have no idea if it will succeed but its worth a shot.

  3. The only on-topic posts in this thread are by deplorables, but I think we need to keep it alive. It's serving as a secondary filter. We chlorinate the water with the welcome PM, then use the DAVE thread to filter out whatever detritus survived.

  4. I came home!!!!11! The shitholes at army recruitment office forgot to make me sign the paper. So I fucking spent 7 hours on road just for a sign. Well I'd curse more but I got to see the cats!!! I'll post pic on proper topic. Damn I missed them.

  6. Don't let Brent Trump get under your skin Chris. He's still mad at your 25 BAI raise. Hey, for the record I need to defend Colin here! Colin has never seen my penis! How could he when I had his face pushed into the pillow?

  8. Here are the boards mounted to the heatsinks. One small mod wire as the bloody layout software doesn't check the ground plane for continuity... The board has already been through major revisions to adapt this to mass production and I doubt I am done.

  9. Listen up Lastinaudio: You are not liked here. It's doubtful you'll ever understand us, or fit in here. The smart thing would be to move along. Otherwise we're just going to use you for target practice.

  10. And they're going to release a fixed better version in 6 months (quality control and reliability issues abound in the first version) and not allow the customers to "upgrade" from v1 to v2. Yes we are well acquainted with the hifiman business model by now.

  11. Pretty sick of them myself. First the HEK V2 and now this.

  12. Just finished Daredevil myself, excellent. Watched Luke Cage and Jessica Jones last week, awesome. Can't wait for Iron Fist and the Defenders later this year. Me

  14. Thanks. Glad that it works with Roon too. I'll give a listen and compare to some of the HDTracks stuff I have. I'm mostly excited to get something for free

  15. most if not all of the high res stuff now on Tidal as MQA are/were available on HD tracks as 24/96 and or 24/192. Sounds pretty great streaming and likely not a 16/44 repackage given the titles are all recent high res.

  17. I have a ripped SACD of "Rumours", and just compared the MQA version. Definitely a different master, appears to also be different from the 16/44 FLAC I have. I'm not very obsessed over versions of albums, as a rule, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I couldn't say which one I prefer, but the MQA version was good enough to merit a full playthrough.

  19. Not a Mini Dynalo but a small one. Finished my Dynalo today, thanks to this forum and the members the build was easy and free of trouble, thanks everyone. Was fun to put it in a small case and solve this puzzle. Also a big thanks to Kevin Gilmore for this design and sharing it with us. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2232 Thanks to sbelyo for the group buy of the pcbs.

  24. Daredevil (Netflix original series) - Seasons 1 and 2 are both outstanding. Highly recommended if you haven't seen already & are into that sort of thing. Moving on to Jessica Jones and then Luke Cage after that.

  25. Where's the fun in that? I like the idea that this thread is our gingerbread house where the noobs can nibble until they prove themselves gluttons and we smoke them. Might have to clean up the thread each time a noob pie comes out of the oven...

  27. You've got it, Kerry. It can be software decoded (by the Tidal app or through Roon) or it can be hardware decoded, mostly by Meridian hardware. It's closed source, and it's largely a marketing ploy. As near as I can tell there's nothing particularly amazing about the format, it's just iterative improvement of a lossy codec. The big draw, if there is one, is the hi-res music catalogue they have on offer. I'd rather stream them than buy individually on HDTracks, to be certain.

  29. I got a bit confused reading through the mqa stuff. It sounds like you need to play it through the tidal app or have specific hardware.

  30. Got it up and running with a new belt, some fresh oil and quick contact-cleaning. Tried the built in riia, but it sounded quite lean and probably needs some components replaced to play as it should, so i rewired it straight from the tonearm to the Reflex M. Since i was going to try the built in circuits, i decided to try out the DL160 first, and surprisingly, it plays better then my old pd272 with the AT33ptg/II just really tight and effortless sounding, and it handles bass heavy music like GoGo Penguin really well without muddying things up. It does still sound like a dl160 though, so it lacks the giant soundstage and smoothness of the AT33, so i'm really looking forward to seeing how that sounds!

  32. Outstanding, Brent re: Xavier's bike! Big moment for him for sure. Jeff, my vote is for the bomb pop bike! Seriously, I like it a lot more than the green one. Although that's probably a good reason to get the green one...

  34. Lol, guys, my birthday was almost two months ago! I just came to reply because good ol' Brento told me to come check things out. It's crazy how fast time goes by. Brent, I'm still in Florida. But Florida is practically another country, so for all intents and purposes, I'm already deported.

  36. Speaking of crazy ass cold riding, we signed up for a fatbike, beer and chili ride this weekend where the temps will be a balmy 20ish degrees with wind. Reserved an electric Specialized fatbike for Kasia which should be a cool ride and I am providing my own or borrowing a CF Salsa for my ride. While I got tons of base layers for Xmas, I need to find something for Kasia. What are the bike nerd accepted base layers these days, Craft?
