  1. Thanks all! I had a pretty normal day and just went to work. But for dinner, Anne surprised me with a 4 star meal she prepared using a recipe from Charlie Trotter's cookbook. Salmon poached in a seasoned vegetable broth with crab meat potatoes and a beef red wine reduction. Then an Achatz chocolate pie for dessert. Tomorrrow I get to choose where we go for dinner. Doug, the Browns' strategy worked out great! We got the first pick! Woot! Just wait till next year!

I have a friend that has a semi-pet dove. The dove has free range during the day, and flies home at night to sleep in the house.

I agree the pricing seems strange, but if I can get a DAPish like device that does real DSD for less than the price of the AK240 or something it could be a nice deal. Especially since it seems the Mojo sounds better than the A&K stuff.
  5. Steve as you well know Headfi sends their drug dealers, murderers and rapists... oh and some good people how I wish we had a deportation force to send the wankers back over the wall/fence to HF
  6. Risotto. Carnaroli, olive oil, onion, garlic, wine, salt, pepper, kombu-cremini broth, butter, parm. I think I've finally mastered risotto; it's taken years. A copper pan and a whisk definitely beats a pressure cooker, at the expense of a lot of time.

  10. ^both are kind of disturbing, but I somewhat agree. The first one is sort of sad, she's a girl that for some reason seems to have lost her innocence. The girl in the Blind Faith cover still has the bland look of a kid despite the nudity and her incipient development.
  11. The dude needs help. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/on-small-business/wp/2016/09/16/gene-marks-21-percent-of-ceos-are-psychopaths-only-21-percent/?utm_term=.d380193c9429 The audiophile industry is definitely way above average, but even then 21 percent seems a bit low. Mylan, Wells Fargo, Theranos... the list of massive scandals goes on and on.
  12. My favorite out of their last few.
  13. Indeed, this whole "we only care about the performance...honest" BS...nobody buys that. Fang is a bit like the car company's here, talking about all the issues with the previous model just because they have a new one out. "Sure...this was perfect last week but now it is shit!!" Edit: Just browsed through the thread... and fuck Fang is nuts!! People don't lavish his newest piece of shit with praise so he is to be executed? Ehhh ok... what!!??!!??
  14. Alec is 12 today and asked for a "proper bike."
  15. Orange beef meat candy -- I accidentally caramelized the sugar and garlic in my orange garlic hoisin sauce, so it came out most sweet and tasty
  16. Two courses? That's just Colin's appetizer!
  17. not even the hp1000? its my favorite for rock, all the others can't stand the brightness. Still he has a point, even though i like the retro style one also here could say it makes no sense that build quality for the price.

  19. A very happy birthday to both of you!
  20. I don't care about the pricing on the most part but I hate a headphone being released only to have a revision released few months later depreciating the value of the first iteration immediately. Audeze is too blame for starting the whole revisional updates to headphones models.
  21. Happy birthday!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Feel like this belongs here. Numpties!
  23. Oh, this is greetings thread recycling. Happy birthday, guys!!!
  24. Have a mackin' birthday Dr. John! Cheers!
  25. My Chinese likely pales in comparison to yours, but it's useful to remember how to swear Fang took me out painting, crashed my car, helped me cook a fish, and was a real gentleman with my pregnant wife. I have a different view of the guy personally and professionally.

  27. Happy Birthdays, John and Frank!
  28. Got it up and running with a new belt, some fresh oil and quick contact-cleaning. Tried the built in riia, but it sounded quite lean and probably needs some components replaced to play as it should, so i rewired it straight from the tonearm to the Reflex M. Since i was going to try the built in circuits, i decided to try out the DL160 first, and surprisingly, it plays better then my old pd272 with the AT33ptg/II just really tight and effortless sounding, and it handles bass heavy music like GoGo Penguin really well without muddying things up. It does still sound like a dl160 though, so it lacks the giant soundstage and smoothness of the AT33, so i'm really looking forward to seeing how that sounds!
  29. Sous vide + searzall unagi cezar
  30. Yes, that's it exactly. You roast all of those till they're good and scorched. Peel the paper off the peppers, toss it all in the blender and that's the base of the soup (plus some chicken stock). Also cube pork, toss with salt and pepper and then coat with flour. Brown in a pan with some olive oil and add to the soup. Let simmer for a few hours. We then thicken it and serve it over rice like a stew. Plated
