  1. Are you retarded by any chance? Seriously, both of those are truly fucktastic choices... Lampizator is utter shit only for people who don't believe in the laws of physics and Total DAC is way too expensive for what you are getting.

  2. This is now also pretty killer I think. Date window again much better at six and nicely sized at 38.5mm.

  9. I only have the iPhone and rather shitty light, but hopefully the fine polishing can be appreciated Did I ever post this pic when Jacob asked for it at some other thread? This forum software is kind of weird. I like what Omega is releasing, the 60th anniversary issue of the Speedmaster, Trainmaster and Seamaster looks great too

  10. The 3-4 volts offset was a bit of a disappointment. Turned out OP27 was (partly) defect. New OP installed and now I get readings as below. No signal at input and DC at outputs are in mV range. No trimmers, just power up, inhale and all is set.

  11. The LG will allow you to tweak timing a little bit to make sure audio matches video. On one of my 4k TVs I am just using a surround sound soundbar and I use the fiber optic out of the LG into the Soundbar, works fine.

  15. Can't stop listening to Brad Mehldau, can't seem to get past this piece he played for an encore (almost verbatim). Those extra harmonization notes he chooses at 1:15 and 1:17 are sublime, though I think what he played when I saw him were slightly more dissonant, and I think I might have to start working on a simplified guitar version of his arrangement.

  28. Hate to say it, but lucky pass. No way did he intend to throw it between his legs. Was trying to get the pass there ahead of the defender. Still a great play to watch, but he didn't call bank (as they say).

  33. The graduation was only for this school. The next one will be the final one. To me the medical training should be done closer to the end since it's a perishable skill, but he will have more training after he gets his brevet. It's is the longest MOS block of the bunch in SF. He will do, among other training blocks, 25 weeks of language training, likely Arabic.

  40. Open baffles do things box speakers don't. Of course they need extensive EQ, but one of the things you notice if you are used to box speakers is they can sound bass-shy. If you are used to open baffles, or electrostatics, of planar magnetics (Like Magnaplanar) there are no surpises. The bass is there in the right proportion to the rest of the music with no overhang, and sounds tight and fast. And open baffles interact with the room in a completely different way, exciting far fewer resonances. Well you can buy a kit, or even buy one already built. Or you can do what I did - buy two sheets of Baltic Birch and build them from scratch. Then hot hide glue veneer them, and French polish them. Parts which are not veneered I made from a Rosewood called Cocobolo, and the feet were made from Goncalo Alves.

  41. actually the MIT cables are more than a resistor to ground. There is all that hot-glue. Dripping piles of hot-glue. And a couple of very small value caps. the guy at double-helix cables clearly has absolutely no understanding of electrostatic anything. Unlikely to have ever opened a quad56 or quad63 because if he had he would know that there is a reason why the wires are so thick. and so goes with his fancy silver wire in a high capacitance dielectric. Go to his website and count how many turns on the braiding and figure that the capacitance of his cable would be at least 3 times that of a stax cable. and then the BS about not plating the silver with gold because gold "slows down the signal" and yet all his connectors are cheap gold plated crap. etc. No one should help idiots like this mess up other peoples stuff.

  42. I think the whole SR009 vs. SR007 thing is just boil down to personal preference Birgir. I have several people who have stopped by and listening to both phones out of several of my amps, and 65% actually prefer the SR009 while the remainder just like the SR007 better. At a recent Atlanta meet, I have one person liking the SR007 better out of the Carbon while the another 5-6 clearly prefer the SR009. This same gentlemen also prefer his LCD3 over the HD-800. My close friend who is also a musician seem to dig the SR009 better.
