  8. MasNoNoNoNoNoNosetts Heh heh
  9. I was under the impression that balance and offset of +/-20V are within spec for an electrostatic headphone amp... why worry about +/-1.5V, let alone +/-50mV? Not that I discourage overkill perfectionism.
  10. Frickin beautiful work, Mike. How long in the skillet? A little oil?
  11. It is possible. I have recoated two pairs of old Lambda Signature and they work fine. There is a risk of breaking mylar as I did for the first time, when I was opening driver. But any other try was without issues.
  12. All right. I guess your amplifier works properly. Set the meter to VDC with one decimal (or switch it off) and enjoy the music. Be proud over an successful first built of an electrostatic amplifier.
  13. Yeah, I know. I still remember (and have a fondness for) tan lines.

Just finished watching it and it was great. The Amazon boys better step it up.
  15. You've seen Colin eat, right?
  16. Yeah, worrying about 1.5V is pretty dumb...
  17. i've used amplifiers with 30v offset, not a huge deal
  18. Hi JoaMat, I think you should try to make your own headphones. It'll be a lot of fun.
  19. Are you retarded by any chance? Seriously, both of those are truly fucktastic choices... Lampizator is utter shit only for people who don't believe in the laws of physics and Total DAC is way too expensive for what you are getting.

I only have the iPhone and rather shitty light, but hopefully the fine polishing can be appreciated Did I ever post this pic when Jacob asked for it at some other thread? This forum software is kind of weird. I like what Omega is releasing, the 60th anniversary issue of the Speedmaster, Trainmaster and Seamaster looks great too
  21. The 3-4 volts offset was a bit of a disappointment. Turned out OP27 was (partly) defect. New OP installed and now I get readings as below. No signal at input and DC at outputs are in mV range. No trimmers, just power up, inhale and all is set.

This is now also pretty killer I think. Date window again much better at six and nicely sized at 38.5mm.

I don't really watch any sports except hockey, but I do follow Gonzaga, because my dad played for them in the late 60s. I will have to call him, because WVU is where he went to medical school...
  27. Jeff angered the biscuit dieties with his recent ridiculous cycling purchase, so retribution was needed. **BRENT**
  28. Got my corned beef and boiled cabbage that I was denied yesterday.

Just like Carbon we built. Same box, same PS. Relay=120s. Separated filament transformer.

  32. Long since devoured pork tacos.
  33. Pork carnitas inbound.
  34. Claire wanted the comparison pic
  35. Poached eggs, grilled asparagus, kale and grilled bread.
  36. Red beans and rice using my new instant pot. Threw a little smoked paprika in it to replace the flavor bacon and ham hocks would provide. Turned out pretty good, and was super quick compared to normal beans and rice.

  38. Awesome pork rinds. Great burger (gruyere and bacon), with a slice of my buddy's hangar steak Finished with some crazy fried bread pudding with caramel bourbon sauce with ice cream topped with house made toffee. Oh, and a couple drinks to go along with it. Florence City Limits Les Dauphins Cotes Du Rhone 2013 Such a great night. **BRENT**
  39. Last night, but it was good: Beef ragout with penne
  40. Forgot to post this delicious ribeye with bone marrow on top last night.
  41. Back on topic -- carnitas burrito (with chips and salsa doctored with hot sauces and mango/lime margarita in the background):
  42. Lunch à deux And there was cornbread
  43. I could buy a lot of different things I'd rather have than a small increase in performance.
  44. Ehh, I hear you. I'm sure there is new and improved and better. Always is. But I've always loved the SDS-XLR. Don't care what anyone else says, it's an incredible amp to my ears. I've never had any trouble with it either. The house hasn't burnt to the ground, etc. That, and I don't do a ton of headphone listening anymore. Would love to hear some of these amps though, don't get me wrong. I think there would be value in it for someone who listens to headphones as much as I did, say 10 years ago or so.
