Well, Nutella cost us $1,300 and counting today. Against our better judgement, we left some party decorations up for Piper’s birthday week. Found some chewed pieces of plastic streamers on the ground yesterday morning, and she didn’t finish her breakfast so I feared the worst. After multiple rounds of vomiting, including parts of streamers, she spent much of the day at the emergency vet. Long-story-short, looks like she’s going to be OK without surgery. I’ve admittedly been a bit of a mess… It was not a fun night, or enhaoyable day waiting to hear. And everyone was determined to welcome her home.4 points

The new Timberlines look like money. Induction side burners and modular everything. The XL is the biggest and most expensive grill they make -- and therefore the one you should buy. https://www.traeger.com/pellet-grills/timberline-xl3 points

Only thing I have to add is that I got to play around with a Contura once. Most beautiful camera I ever saw. https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/just-bought-my-“grail”-camera-contura-stereo-camera.170807/2 points

Prokofiev: Piano Concertos Nos. 4 & 5 Vladimir Ashkenazy, London Symphony Orchestra, André Previn 1997 (Wrong! It is a 1976 reissue of the 1975 recordings of all 5 Concertos, stoopid TIDAL, don't you read Discogs?) https://album.link/i/1452339744 Example (from the 1975 albums): Other than wishing there was an easy feedback loop for reporting bad info to TIDAL it is a good recording.2 points

That Treager does look pretty nice, I like the addition of the induction for searing.1 point

I still have my old Traeger with a Blaz'n Grills controller and it is fine but not SOTA anymore. I might still go for the 780 if I were buying a new one. My nephew has a Camp Chef with side burner that he likes quite a bit and it creates a lot of smoke. @Hopstretch doesn't have the Memphis anymore and the Twin Eagles set he has is great but $$$$1 point

Stretch has a Memphis which I’ve been eying for a while. He probably can give some feedback on it. It’s more of a Head-Case smoker than a Treager, though there is nothing wrong with the current Treagers. Also check out Blaz’N Grills and RecTeq (though they might have sold out to corporate). As for the size, unless you plan on cooking for large gatherings the 780 size will be just fine. I did four briskets at once on Al’s larger Treager for Mayberry but other than that I’ve never needed one that size.1 point

What's the current wisdom on pellet smokers? My wife wants to get one for the summer (seriously). Is a giant Traeger still the way to go? I love my KBQ, but it takes a lot of monitoring, specific log sizes, etc. Any suggestions would be briefly reviewed before pulling the trigger—I rely upon the kindness of friends. More detail—she picked out the 780. Seems like plenty of capacity, but should we spring for a Timberline?1 point

Long overdue update. I ended up sending my panels to Kent at Electrostatic Solutions 2 years ago. Cost was very reasonable, Kent gave me detail instruction on how to put the panels back and connect everything back up. I also took detail picture and notes as well before sending them off. It was about 3 weeks turn around. Spoke to Kent on advice in regards to proper amp to power them, safety mod etc. The stock safety circuit resistor 2W 12Ohm needs to be swapped with 10W 12Ohm to prevent the panels from arching. Causing holes in the panel's membrane. Tube amp are best to drive them due to the speaker impedance curve. Kent mention he uses the ARC REF300 300 watts to drive his F81 and F83 (Basically 2x F81 stacked 3db louder lol) He can achieve 98-100dB peaks before clipping about the limit of the F81 design. I'm using a Primaluna Premium amp 8x KT100 which output about 100watts. I get about 92db peak. The speaker are very touchy with placement. but are absolute divine once position correctly. Can listen to them for hour with no fatigue what so ever.1 point

Found out on the plane on the way back from the COVID mixer in Boston that my Aunt Sharon Keltner died of a heart attack Thursday night. She was probably the nicest person I have ever spent time with in my life and did nothing but give as a life long RN and in retirement feeding the majority of her small town that is primarily comprised of very old farmers with little money. Family was planning a joint celebration of her 70th birthday and 50th wedding anniversary for August. Time for me start living a healthier lifestyle.0 points
