mono has a multitude of advantages over stereo, both in terms of economics and practicality: mono is more "pure" than stereo. for sessions recorded on tape full width mono had better signal to noise ratio than half track stereo. you have more control over speaker placement, you get no cross talk, you can buy better sounding mono components for the same money as the stereo equivalents, your interconnect and speaker cable costs are halved as is the cable clutter almost all recordings before about 1958 are mono anyway, you can store twice as much music on your harddisk/ssd as stereo, stereo recordings often had mono mixes - because at the introduction of stereo many studios where unsure of if stereo would be popular due to its higher cost, and of course, had much more experience recording with mono. Many of the mono mixes are better regarded and more sought after than the stereo mixes from the same sessions. e.g. the Beatles... (https://www.chicagotribune.com/opinion/editorials/ct-beatles-mono-mixes-lennon-edit-20141003-story.html) do you critically listen and prefer music in 7.1 surround sound? no why because its artificial, complex and detracts from the music, its a gimmick.. then why listen in stereo,? Apply Occam's razor reduce to the simplest form use the original and best form... mono... mono ©️ the way it was meant to be played ... 🙂4 points

Another one located about six miles away. Much better picture, the summer drought is bringing them down out of the mountains looking for water and food/people. Keep watching to the 37 second part. https://neighbors.ring.com/n/Zx9oPAvIxV3 points

Exactly. FYI, that video was literally my introduction to Hiromi. I saw someone was playing with Chick Corea, so I watched it for Chick Corea, and ... she really holds her own! They communicate with their faces, she has her own style, is confident enough to come across as a duet partner/peer/equal, and has such joy that it's just effusive. Instant fan.2 points

I find it funny when speaker manufacturers advertise their speakers as "$XXX per speaker". Who buys one speaker, V. van Gogh? 🤣1 point

You are on the wrong forum. You can start here Google QN90A black screen I am not teasing you the info is there but you need to work a lot to find it. There could be a hundred cause. Do not open the box if you have no experience with high voltage it could kill you, only try the other tips! I am answering you because I had to repair a 3d lg TV myself because the service only wanted to do it for almost the full price of the tv. It was a few months to find the info, parts and equipment but I had no choice because you can not buy 3d TV s nowadays. How can we watch the next Avatars?1 point

Round 2 with the V60 was an improvement. In case it is of any use to others: 203 F water temp target; warm the ceramic V60 first; filter goes in and wet it to remove any tastes; 15:1 ratio on Ethiopian light/medium roast (pic included if things go to plan...); ground with Niche on the coarser side but a finer than my Chemex which uses a thicker filter (I went even finer this time which i believe slowed the process); 4:00 minutes total from first water to dampen the 30gr of coffee (60gr of water) and then grabbed the Hario w/ cup and swirled it per Hoffman method up to ~30 seconds...CO2 released IMO; added water up to 230-250gr by roughly 1:15-1:30min...swirled the slurry per above/Hoffman once some liquid cleared; added remaining water up to 450gr and used a small spoon to swirl one direction and then the other although this time I flipped the spoon around and agitated the coffee bed directly like I do with my Chemex at ~4:00 done and cleared the V60 from my cup and tasted. Overall, a much better cup for me than my first attempt but I would argue it still seems less forward/full of flavor...cleaner or something than the Chemex which has me scratching my head given the finer filter and same ratio of water to coffee...interesting. Only delta is 4:30 with the Chemex, I'm assuming given heavier filter more than offsetting the finer grind for the Hario. I'll play with it again next weekend... HS1 point

The peculliarities of this assembly: 1. I've changed diodes to shottky ones with a low leakage current: IDH05G120C5XKSA1. Works well. 2. I've used more presicion resistors for voltage dividers. That is why I've used 2 resistors instead of one sometimes - I prefer to use 2 presicion resistors intead of 1 usual xicon if there is no required value in a shop. This is also a cause of 502 voltages in +- 500 line: i've used a pair 271k + 221k instead of 490k resistor. And 120k + 120k for 240k and 145+145 for 290k. All the mentioned resistors are +-0.1% and less then 25 ppm. 3. most HV parts are slightly raised above the board. 4. I've decided not to solder the Low Bias part. 5. I use UF4007 instead of 1N4007 6. 0.1 uF capacitors are X7R. I don't like ceramic capacitors, but there are no alternatives with a suitable size (. At least I use 100V instead of 50V. It lowers capacitance changes with applied voltage.1 point

I didn’t know whether to trust this show again. Season 3 was such a clusterfuck I that I couldn’t believe they brought the show back at all. I’m glad I gave it another chance. I don’t really know where this new season is headed but so far they seem to have learned from their extravagances in season 3 and got back to the mind-fuckery that drew us all to Westworld to being with.1 point

Tony Dow, known for his role as Wally Cleaver on "Leave It to Beaver," is under hospice care in his "last hours," his son tells Fox News Digital. "This is a difficult time," Christopher Dow said. "Yes, he is still alive, but in his last hours; under hospice care." Earlier Tuesday, Dow's management team said that the actor had died in a Facebook post, but the social media post has since been taken down. Dow's wife, Lauren Shulkind, gave the "false information" to his management team, his son explained to Fox News Digital. Per TMZ, Dow's wife is "very distraught" and "believed her husband was dead." She then told Dow's management team. Yikes.0 points

RIP Wally. 😢 Damn I loved that show growing up. Tony Dow and Jerry Mathers were both going to appear at a local ComiCon that my brother was promoting for 2020. The event finally took place this month but Tony Dow was too ill to appear. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2022/07/26/arts/television/tony-dow-dead.amp.html0 points

Welp, last two weeks have been a headache with regard to showreels. Two weeks ago, while attempting to connect the mic to my mixer, I jostled the Thunderbolt cable enough to cause a momentary disconnect. Traktor freezes playback but resumes immediately when it gets disconnected from the DAC. The Mixlr app, OTOH, throws a complete fit and won't work right until it's restarts. The end result is that the record of that show got ruined. This past friday I used the tiny micro PC I have to run the Mixlr app, thus avoiding the possibility of the same problem cropping up two weeks in a row. Unfortunately, the UI on the Windows version of the Mixlr app is considerably different and the record function appears at a different stage in the launch process. There's also no way to enable recordings after going live. That meant there's no recording my most recent show, either.0 points
