Hit the gym early afternoon, bought a new windshield wiper for the last one that flew off while I was driving, watched UFC at Hooters.

Got up at the but crack of dawn to drop my wife off at a race and then pick her up after. She was stoked because she set a PR and wasn't really trying.

Installed web based control for Foobar2000 on my music PC that lets me control it from anywhere on the network. Yes I know I could do this many other ways. Anyway it's awesome: I will get a lot more use out of my speakers out of this.

Spent the last couple hours working on my training plan for the next 52 weeks. This is going to be a lot of work (both the planning and execution).

congratulations tyler! feels nice to finish doesnt it :)

interesting thesis. send it over for a read when you are done defending/publishing/whatever it is they make you wait for these days before it becomes public domain.

Got scammed by a cab that charged me $15 for a mile or two trip...but on a more positive note Southwest was asking for volunteers to go on a later flight, so I more than made up for that $15 with a flight voucher :)

You could say it's not really scamming because pretty much all taxis are like that. You step in the car, it's $10-15 already. I had to pay $45 bucks or something to get driven like 10 miles once.

....and don't forget the surcharges for bags and "fees" and such.

AZ Skyharbor airport charges various "fees" for car rentals ( I know, not the same as a cab but) amounting to 50% in addition to the car rental price.

Well I get the feeling that I was scammed because sometime during the trip the meter was turned off, he just told me how much it was at the end. I do feel a bit better knowing it's just expensive in general.

Here in Chi Town, there are several standard cab trips that are not metered. But it's clearly stated on signage.

Tried to acquire extra lights so we can start/finish decorating our Christmas tree. Appearently, I should've done this earlier than now as I couldn't find any lights I needed.

Thanks, Anurag. It feels wonderful to be through it. What I actually finished was the post-defense edits, so it's ready for publication today. Of course, even if it wasn't I'm the sole copyright holder, so I could send it to whomever I so chose.

I'd be happy to send it over your way. You could count yourself in the esteemed company of myself, my wife, and my defense team as one of the <10 people who will ever read it (God willing.)

Had to leave Marc's house earlier than planned after getting the news that my Grandfather passed away this morning. I knew it was coming, but it's still a downer. He had 92 good years though, and was the best Grandfather a guy could ever hope to have.

I'm really sorry to hear that Steve. My condolences to you. 92 years is fine innings. I hope that your grandfather enjoyed them.

Sorry to hear it, Steve. May we all be so fortunate to live to 92 and have a grandson like you.

My condolences Steve. My mom is 91 so I can relate. I hope your Grandfather was able to enjoy all of his time down here.

I think of my grandfathers often. I'm sorry for your loss.
