October 16, 20169 yr On SHM SACD. ? I think this is my favorite album of theirs. The first three tracks are just dynamite. I really like Mark's guitar lines here. His lyrics aren't bad either.

October 16, 20169 yr Just put it on my favourites list on Tidal HiFi - will listen to later. Useless factoid number 37a: Mark Knopfler bought his first guitar from the shop I worked in on a Saturday aged 16 http://www.jgwindows.com/about-us .

Love Mark's solo/duet stuff too. Have you heard Neck and Neck with Mark and Chet Atkins? Phenomenal, even if you don't care for Country music. Edited October 16, 20169 yr by swt61
October 18, 20169 yr For something a little different; "Food For Thought" from the Library of Congress's Recorded Sound Research Center, the National Press Club Luncheon speeches. I've just begun to scratch the surface here but these are from the days when a great speech was just about the best entertainment you could ask for and these curated speeches are fantastic. So, if you're as sick of hearing about the election as I am (already sent in my ballot), give these a listen. Don't miss the Hitchcock! http://www.loc.gov/rr/record/pressclub/

October 20, 20169 yr I heard about the supergroup a while back and knew I'd buy based on the name alone. Plus the Alice in chains singer is great. I like that it's kind of weird in places.
October 21, 20169 yr picked some random record out of the huge lump i was given the other day - instantly new favorite record.

October 22, 20169 yr Dani Joss, Liquid Photography -- one of my favourite albums of electronic music evar. Dark, sparse, ambient as all, atmospheric as dark matter. I don't even know how to categorize it -- ambient experimental?
October 26, 20169 yr In honor of Pitchfork's 50-greatest shoegaze albums list I'm starting with this. http://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/9966-the-50-best-shoegaze-albums-of-all-time/ Edited October 26, 20169 yr by TMoney
October 26, 20169 yr Agnes Obel - Citizen of Glass. Very nice, definitely similar to Aventine & Philharmonic, but some variations that are quite nice.
