I was lucky enough to get some new K240's for Christmas this year. I have owned a pair of Hifiman HE 4xx's for a couple of years now and recently bought a set of Sennheiser HD569 closed back headphones for when the wife is watching movies a little too loud. I also have a pair of Samson SR850's which seem to be modeled after the K240's so I really wanted to try the real thing. I will have to admit that I wasn't real impressed by the 240's at first. The first amplifier that I hooked them to was my old Realistic SA-150 integrated amp. Hello all! I am an engineer and a big fan of perfect audio, especially on my headphones. Some time ago, I bought the AKG k612 headphones and I love them. Perfect and clean audio, very open scene and the design! Worth every $ I spent on it. However, the one problem I found is that I am concerned about the headbands distortion, when not using it and hanging on headphone hanger. That's why (as an engineer) I started thinking of the solution, how to store my k612 and be calm about headbands. As a group of veteran audiophiles who have repeatedly espoused the sentiment that "end-game is the point of the game", I'm curious what that actually looks like. What air vibrators consistently end up strapped to your noggin? Or have you all abandoned headphones in favor of speakers and whiskey?

I've only had them since this morning. But so far I'm really digging the sound Some initial impressions. Very balanced sound with exceptional tonality. The first thing I noticed is how forward the sound signature is (similar to the K1000). The soundstage isn't as large as the Omega 2 MK1. The Omega 2 has this uncanny ability to throw its voice like a ventriloquist projecting sounds outside the dimensions of the earspeaker. The Koss can't quite do that. The Koss have very, very nice midbass and impact making them fun to listen to with rock. They have a hint of that deep bass that is crying to come out, but doesn't extend that far. Not quite sure where this belongs, so mods feel free to move this thread. So, me being me, I'm usually a little late to the party. I was in Best Buy today and came across the Boze frames, Bluetooth sunglasses. I listened to them and can really see a use for these when I'm away from home. The sound was certainly adequate for non critical listening, with the advantage of being able to hear voices, sirens etc... Does anyone own these? Would it be easy to adapt to Alexa? Are their better brands for the money? Style is somewhat important and I do like the rondo style, and the availability of accessory colored lenses, or even prescription lenses. Well...these arrived this week via the Gilmore express and to make it easier for anybody looking for info on them, a new thread it is. As Kevin documented before, the amplifier is a dinky little thing and a direct clone of the Stax SRM-001. The amp is pretty much useless though as it doesn't have any volume control and you can't use it from a portable device as it needs a full 2Vrms input signal to reach usable volume levels. I'm not in a position to buy these phones at the moment (medical bills are fun!), but the reviews that I've read suggest that they are the phones I've been looking for, and I should be financially whole, and hopefully healthy, in early 2019. Has anybody had a chance to listen to them yet? I'd drive them with my KG-perfected SP Extreme.

New to this forum so I am prob making a huge mistake in starting a thread already. If I did then please forgive me. I cant find a place to talk about these so I figured I would post here. Some bass head cans with two plugs out with great balance and good soundstage. Interested in hearing peoples thoughts about them if they have heard of them or are curious.

I do quite a decent amount of walking and it's mainly in neighborhoods. Sometimes though there are people mowing, using edge trimmers, blowing by in really loud cars, motorcycles, etc. and I can hear it and it bothers me with my current headphones (Monoprice 8323 stock). I know those don't block enough to prevent hearing damage. I do not like IEM's. I've been looking up and it seems like passive noise isolating headphones are better for medium pitch to high pitch noises and active noise cancellation is best for low to lower middle pitched noise. So I was wondering what is the best headphone that has a combination of the two for under $100? Even if the SQ is lowe…

I know we do not discuss headphones much anymore but I have question for the Grado experts. I have to replace the pads on a couple of my Grados (actually one is an Alessandro) due to the infamous pad disintegration issue. There is some residue on the wooden cups that I would like to clean off. It is pretty clean just using a soft cloth and soft brush but there is some residue that I would like to remove without harming the finish. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

I am surprised there has not been much of a talk of the Focal Clear headphone here yet. I bought a pair from Justin a few months ago during a promotional sales. It’s an impromptu buy mostly prompted by Tyll’s review and the fact I had just built a SS Dynahi. Don’t ask me why! The Fazor update was around 2014 or so, and there was a fair amount of press at the time that it improved the performance of the headphones. I picked up a set of LCD-3's last fall, and to me, they sounded pretty darn good overall. I found it a step up from a pair of Focal Elars that I was using. These are my 3 favorite models...I'll have to do a lot more listening to see which is definitely the favorite, but all of these shine in their own way. The Radiante is a closed back and may be the most interesting of the bunch. Anyone going to be at the DC meet next weekend? I might also look at doing a loaner program for these.
