  3. Euthanasia Yolanda is history!!! Showed up to protest today. Was a little bummed that only two others were there, but it ended up not mattering. A Mr. Hooker (yeah I know) came out to ask if we could talk. After listening to my story, he asked if I would be willing to give a written statement. I said yes. As I was finishing my statement he came in to confirm that "she" was no longer employed there, and that her actions were in no way in compliance with policy. It feels good to stand up and be counted!

  4. Someone else at the shelter called him to tip him off. I guess she wasn't very nice to the people there either. He wanted my statement and info in case she tried to dispute her termination. He was very sincere and seemed truly disheartened by her callous attitude.

  8. I can get amazing burgers here, Steve, but I had the three beat burgers in town over the two weeks before that, but none were going to be that cheap. That one better? **BRENT**

  9. Actually, I'm literally herding them. Not that i want to do herd them but they follow me anywhere I go. And interestingly some of them listen my basic commands. I guess they see me as their leader. I sit with them while they eat, I drink coffee/tea and smoke. After that I play with them. And I can cease their fights and keep dogs and savage male cats out. I guess they respect and love me as much as I do. It started 2 years ago, "Umut" jumped off from balcony and got lost. After that we started to give the remaning cat food. After the package finished, we started to bought 15 kilos per month. Now we give 60 kilos per month. And we spend total 3-4 hours per day with them (me and my father) BTW the knees belong to my father. And really I don't do that for being good or anything like that. The hour(s) I spend with cats are like therapy for me. What I do is most selfish act that a human can do, imho. I've 3 major hobbies I spend time regularly: music, reading and them.

  10. We installed 1st floor's doors, they are using it more actively now, I guess its more secure. First two residents: Now, we need only fences to cover it. We'll build another one and replace the abomination at the right side.

  17. Do you really think with language like that, that you should be the standard bearer for such an interface if it's that much better? I mean, even if it is better, you still sound like a snake oil salesman. You people with your "my statistical sample of 1 is adequate" -- no it's not! Not ever! Sure, maybe it's good enough for you to buy-in, but it's not good enough to tell other people to buy-in, just based on your word, what if your previous system was so crappy that AOIP couldn't help but be better? My first question in such a thing is, "if it's so great, why don't the pros use it?" So I looked. Seems to be just starting out and used almost exclusively for broadcast. Long runs. The standard for studio still seems to be AES3. Sometimes they'll add an extra clock. I'll wait until it matures somewhat.

  21. Ah. Thank you, EdipisReks, and my apologies cetoole. Well, I was measuring ~21psi at the manifold as a result of the turbos. I'm guessing in the order of 1300+ rear wheel horsepower. The car weighs over 4500lbs with me in it...she's a piggy and the coefficient of drag is right up there with a big brick (hence that wrap that can be seen on the nose of the car). I don't have the heart to gut her for weight reduction although I should... Most things I have done in the way of modifications added weight (e.g. 10 point chromoly roll cage, bigger brakes, turbos, big transmission with sfi rate billet bell housing to help keep my legs where they belong, 9" rear end, halon extinguisher system, etc...). 22. My favorite event was last weekend, the Texas Mile. It's a standing mile event and the first and largest of its kind. Basically we take over an ex-Navy airfield that's a private airport now so there's a mile and a half length "track". Always a bunch of great folks willing to help each other out and visit about their vehicles. Some neat cars and bikes there. Chrysler had a press crew there and my boy and I got sucked into an interview. Got our pit crew some swag so I guess it's all good in the end. Managed to beat my modern MOPAR record once I got my boat anchor of a 4L80E (GM truck transmission) to take overdrive. Really excited that the breakage was down to small stuff like a chin spoiler with a steel belly pan supporting it that sheared from the front bumper fascia and I cupped the steel pan and dragged all the way back to the pit...whoops. I had an end link come loose which woke me up. For one of these two reasons she was all over the place on the big end on a 211mph pass, but we went into town and double nutted it back on the coilover and all good. Zip ties FTW!!! HS

  24. I figured something this rare deserved a thread of its own. Let me introduce the Stax SRA-7S, integrated amp for earspeakers. This was introduced in 1966 for the SR-1 and remained in production into the 70's. With Stax we never really know when they stopped making something but given it's all tube design, it was dead by the mid 70's. This one was missing just one knob but amazingly they are still in current production. A full set has already been sourced... Those RCA's really need to go but pretty clean over all. Pretty much unmolested but somebody decided to remove the fuse holder. Not a good sign... Amp and phono stage on separate PCB's. All original parts and all the tubes are original. Hell the entire amp is a Matsushita advert on the inside... All of this will be stripped though. Not a chance components nearly 50 years old are even close to spec. Interesting tube choice though, ECC83 for the phono stage but the Stax amp uses a pair of 6AU6's, an 12AT7 and 12BH7's for the output. Power supply is as simple as it can be, two diodes feeding stacked caps to give +300/+600V. The two chassis mounted resistors are 100R so probably there to generate a center tap for the heater but I haven't retraced it yet. Finally the back of the front panel. Not sure how many of the features I'm going to recreate as pretty much all of this will be scrapped. I know I'm the collectors worst nightmare but I'm far more interested in making something better than it ever was than keeping broken parts and useless features in there.

  25. Probably agree with Dusty on all this. I'm thinking that someone who does live and die by their "likes" or spends a large amount of time on social media might find the ending of Nosedive sharper. I totally loved Hated in the Nation though. I didn't even notice the extended length until after it was over.

  33. I highly recommend my portable headphone amp. It's a few years older than some current portable amps, but they don't give me the same warm sensation...

  34. Absolutely! Fit and toe out/in is critical for the best results. Meets are not a good place to audition headphones in general, but even more so with the K1000. I really miss mine! Even more than I thought I would. That pseudo speakeresque quality just worked for me, even at the expense of the lower frequencies.

  44. Not audio exactly but my new modem has been overheating causing it to drop connection and restart all the time. I took it apart and the silicone pad for the heatsink wasn't installed right. Since I had it open, I grabbed a bigger one out of the old parts bin, tapped a couple new holes in the sink to fit the board mounts and notched the cover so the heatpipe could fit through and used proper paste for the mating surface. Works perfectly and runs way cooler now. I need that reliable internet to waste time here after all. Old sink on the right
