  1. Just built my mini GRLV supplies. The Negative came up just fine and works perfectly The positive supply is giving me some issues and I'll need to debug it. Here's some pictures... This pic shows a board I made for the Blue Hawaii that has the +5V, Digital Controller (ATMega328P) and Digital attenuator board along with the GR7/9xx regulators. I'll mount them once the positive supply is working.

  2. Yes....rough year thus far. RIP, Mssr. Baker. We buried my wife's mother yesterday. Touching event. I was doing great until my youngest son elected to speak a few words. Made me proud, but I cried like a little girl. She was a strong woman and very tolerant of my taking her daughter and grandsons around the world as a result of my career. RIP, GG... We love you. I'm glad I imbibe... HS

  3. Mother Nature has a sense of humor, it would appear. 6" of heavy, wet snow fell overnight and as of 4:30 this morning the power is out. Woke up at 6:30 to fire up the generator and get the heat back on and had enough sense to remember that I had purchased an electric burner last year so I was able to make coffee.

  5. I used this one ....it has a red ring lighting up when power is on. I used something like 3-3.5V for the light ...it gets way too bright to my taste at 12V. Small boards close to the inlet is voltage selector 120/240VAC with main relay, and another 12VPSU + latching circuit. When main switch on the back is turned on only the latching circuit is on until the power switch at the front is pushed momentary. The power switch at the front only carries <12V voltages.

  6. Went back and looked at this again; a lot to like here! Neat power inlet... some kind of Schaffner inlet? EDIT: nope, Schurter (found it).

  22. I was cheering for MSU to win and they sure did deliver big time. Very thrilling toward the end. UConn made bad play toward end with leaving too much time on the clock.

  23. Turns out the best game in March was in the Women's tournament. Awesome finish at the buzzer. http://screengrabber.deadspin.com/mississippi-state-ot-buzzer-beater-left-downs-uconn-en-1793916859

  25. I have the same sort of problem, but at 1080. My ancient Marantz (SR 56xx) receiver won't pass HD, so I run video sources to the TV and audio from the back to the receiver via S/PDIF. Works fine, but I did have to use the receiver's lip sync delay feature to get sight and sound lined up correctly. If I had the money in hand and basically could be bothered, I'd spring for the best receiver, with the best video features I could, with the lip sync thing being a major factor. That, and having a good scaler available to all sources. But since I've got good performance now...manyana...

  26. Thanks everyone for all the kind words and encouragement along the building of the Carbon. I think it turned out very well. In previous post I said it sounded all right – that’s an understatement, it sounds fantastic. But of course everything you just built is the best sounding ever built never trust a DIYer. George, I wish you hadn’t asked me about the 500 V. Yep, I run it at 500 V. I’ve read the datasheets but I haven’t told the amplifier.
