Last night Claire made this super easy recipe last night and it is great. And easy. And great. Five-Ingredient Creamy Miso Pasta https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020979-five-ingredient-creamy-miso-pasta?smid=ck-recipe-iOS-share Tonight, I made a pork tenderloin stuffed with herbs and capers. A little harder but still pretty great. I also roasted some creamy potatoes. I know you're old enough to mean you had camels follow you while you rode.2 points

I miss the 50 degree and rainy days... which was two weeks ago. 🤔 Yay So Cal weather. Thanks for the reminder Nate. As long as one really hydrates while riding the risks can be minimized. In the olden days we used the Camelbaks and two extra water bottles which amounted to 4.5 or five liters of water. Then we refilled at the midway point. On hot days tried to keep it at one liter per half hour and had no problems.2 points

That's quite the bike computer you have there, Greg. Seriously though, watch out riding in temps that hot. I've almost cooked myself a few times and once definitely pushed it way too far and overheated pretty badly. Currently not a concern here in the spring will not show up get over it North East, it's 50 and rainy.2 points

Much better. Also, I found this on Rumours (probably old news) while looking for the Fleetwood Mac / Eagles / punk quote: "There were some production problems, the most harrowing of which was tape decay. Because they took so much time to record (they even cancelled a sell-out tour), they were constantly overdubbing on the master tapes. Tape is a physical medium consisting of iron oxide and this flakes off when tapes are rewound and played over and over. The tapes began to decay and nothing sounded like it had when it was recorded. It all would have been lost if as a fluke they had not run another 24 track machine when recording the basic tracks. Luckily, they had this back-up. Then they had to match up all the new parts with the old parts with no time code or midi. They had to do it like a DJ matching the snare and kick on one side of the headphones with the old parts on the other side." Always back up your data.2 points

Everything west of the San Andreas Fault isn't going to fall into the ocean. It's just heading north. Geologically soon, where I currently live will be where Marin County is.2 points

Fleetwood Mac (1975) Rumours deservedly gets the most attention, but I really love this album. This is one of those rare incidences where an album measures up even after decades of anticipation (I remember looking at this album cover on the old Columbia House booklets... cassette version, of course!). This CD also came with the singles versions of Say You Love Me, Rhiannon, Over My Head, and Blue Letter, which turned out to be a nice addition as I was most familiar with the radio versions, of course. I'm not sure why my Rumours CD doesn't have the singles. "The White Album" is a bit softer, sweeter, and more introspective while Rumours has a harder edge. I was relieved the remasters hadn't messed up the sound in a way I could hear. I'm going to dive into their earlier albums as well. Specifically, Then Play On, Future Games, Bare Trees, and Tusk again, to start. Also, I love Herbert Worthington's photo covers for Fleetwood Mac and Rumours. A great combination of photography, fashion, typography, and magic. Again, one of those rare times where the music is as great as the album art. The subjects must have felt silly posing for the covers, but the results are timeless.2 points

Please, please don't but anything that isn't a smart trainer. I hated riding on the trainer until I got my TACX Flow. Not too much more than you're looking to spend ($370) and just so much better an experience and something that I'll likely use it even during the good weather months when time simply doesn't permit riding outdoors. And I should have offered this stuff here I guess, but I've basically got all of the parts stripped off of the Calfee which includes a mostly complete (no chain, no cassette) Dura-Ace 7800 group, S-works carbon cockpit (stem, bars), and some other misc. bits. I've been thinking about this too. There is a good review of the various types on the Global Cycling Network (GCN) you tube channel. Actually for all things cycling it is excellent, run by a couple of ex-pro British cyclists. Turbo trainer vid Their training turbo training vids are a thing to behold - they reduce themselves to sweat pouring exhaustion. Heaven knows what power they are putting in. There are a number of different length and duration sessions to watch.1 point

No, fjpf2145 is not a direct replacement for 2sc3675. 2sc3675 is a 900 V device while fjpf2145 is good for 800 V. I’ve used fjpf2145 in all c3675 positions on T2 except for Q8-10 and Q13-15 (output current sources). But if you decrease to +/-400V I guess you can replace c3675 with fjpf2145 here as well. I’ve also replaced c3675 with other transistors than fjpf2145. For instance Q30,31 with 2sc3324, a sot23 smd part. Might pop up in a future mini T2 with active battery...1 point

Either Stax sells em or get the part 3D printed could work too. On another note, recently acquired a box of old stuff with 2 different SR-30. One with all plastic head band and one with mixed plastic & metal. Anyone know the difference?1 point

I settled on this case: width 320, height 70, depth 248, plenty of space for a single ended cfa and I might even be able to fit a coilcraft COMOCO choke filter (comon and differential filter in the same choke.) Transformer will be a 100VA from toroidy.pl, used them in other projects and quality is top notch. Now on to find a suitable 10K volume control. Would like something a little better than a RK27. stepped attenuator or a relay based one. Any ideas that don't break the bank?1 point

I’m with you on that. Way back when I was a lad, I didn’t listen to much pop music, but I did listen to these two albums (and a handful of others). I taped them on a single 90 minute cassette to listen in the car, and have thought of them together ever since.1 point

Made a new small board. All components moved to one side and a sot-223 1200V npn added to form a Darlington pair with the big npn in the battery. It’s possible to use it with Kevin’s original DIY T2 board. Remove battery components from main board and solder in the daughter board (three pins, fits right in) if you dare. Myself I’m a bit shaky after last failure.1 point

I used the Serious Eats recipe as a start and used their method, and looked at others for ideas. It can be flavored many ways to your preference and with things on hand, so I had to make various substitutions, including the following: I used dried arbol chiles, some dried small chiles I grew, and some dried peppers from my cousin's house in France. I didn't have Sichuan peppercorns so I used a peppercorn blend. I don't have MSG or dried mushroom powder so I skipped those and added some good soy sauce for umami. I subbed a cinnamon stick for star anise and cashews for peanuts. Cardamom pods are green, but the seeds are black--this confused me especially in a tiny quantity so I opted to get out the seeds from three pods and crush them. Lastly, they don't expressly say it but I chopped up the fried shallots and garlic before adding them, and tossed the cinnamon stick of course. Came out pretty tasty. https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2018/04/homemade-spicy-chili-crisp.html https://www.chilipeppermadness.com/recipes/chili-crisp/ Tofu and Green Beans With Chile Crisp https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1020993-tofu-and-green-beans-with-chile-crisp?smid=ck-recipe-iOS-share1 point

There is no port because that is an SR 007mk1. I have a modern 007 2.9 and a friend's early serial mk1 and the early serial mk1 is exactly like that. With the little plastic resin piece that goes over the soldering joints. The strain relief is also the same (as in shitty) and you can see its the old brown cable and champagne housing. EDIT: If anyone is curious I can upload photos of the stair solder joint covering on the mk1 tomorrow.1 point

Listening to a music festival on tv, I think it was Glastonbury 2017. Anyway I was listening to Rod Stewart sing "I don't want to talk about it". I knew I had heard the song before but someone else was singing it. Then I remembered Everything But the Girl. Listening to the album Idlewild. Once again, thank you Antonio. Forgot how much I enjoyed it.1 point

Drill and tap the transistors into a copper plate and once drilling and tapping is complete. Use a thermal epoxy to bond the copper plate to the water blocks then you can mount transistors onto the tapped copper plate.1 point

A milestone of my rare stax hunt: Quattro II🤪 So basically its a third-party CDP with a enlarged chassis, a very sophisticated power supply + DAC . They have separate power supplies for left and right channel as well as the digital section. The CD section has a plastic case but it is put in another aluminium case and on a wood base where the dac section is located. The CD pickup is Sanyo sf-88. Before the aged parts are replaced, The CDP sounded very neutral, fatigue-free with a special sense of spaciousness, but there was no real bass and dynamic. Then those big electrolytic caps are replaced with Nichicon KG , and Cardas rca and Furutech power socket are installed .After servicing the bass and dynamic is back. But it sounds a bit warm than before.1 point

An omega arrived for imbalance repair. Pretty messed up inside with bias wire directly soldered on brass ring, faultly installed panel and worst of all a shadow seen at the part of the rim of the diaphragm , shown as a lunar shape at the bottom of the driver in the photo. Probably indicating a tear along the rim of the diaphragm. Treasure your omega(s) when they are still working ......1 point
