The winter rig, built last year as a COVID project before it became impossible to find reasonably priced used bike parts, performed very well. Especially once I realized I was running the tire pressures way too high.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone. Our original plans for a walk on Stinson Beach were scuppered by the following early morning tweet "MARIN SHERIFF: Marin is under Tsunami Advisory. Stay out of coastal waters until clear" So made other arrangements inland and had a very pleasant day. No bacon as such, Does Crispy Pork Belly count? At least I got to witness an impressive sunset prior to my Birthday on the walk back from Tiburon (When technically it would have been my Birthday, in the UK)

Brings back memories of putting woodscrews through my Cannondale Red Shred mountain bike tires, back in the 80's. I'd pick screws that were about 1/2" long, then screw them through the knobs of the tires, then put in a protective liner, then the tube. Worked great, with the added bonus of texturing your slippery, icy walkways.

Bought some espresso beans earlier this week. They are a week off roast. Made a great flat white I believe one would call it. Soooooo much easier to produce good coffee with a bean that caters to the machine. HS

Bourbon Moth can be over the top but decent work. I like the whiskey table design. I also like King’s Fine Woodworking for actual learning and also Fisher’s Shop, Stumpy Nubs, Rob Cosman and Tamar. Put some Odie’s Oil on the 3D board so it is about as finished as it is going to get.

I've used much of the Amazon Basics hardware lately, including doorknobs and deadbolts. I've been really happy with the quality. They are a bargain price, but even more important, they just work well. On the other hand, I've had nothing but problems with the uber expensive Emtek shit that the posers love to buy and namedrop. Baldwin is my fave, but these Amazon Basics are damned good for the $. On a different note, I've discovered a few new YouTube woodworkers worth watching. Bourbon Moth Woodworking and KJ Sawdust. BTW, The real Blum hardware is also excellent. The Bourbon Moth guy has some good tips on easy installation of their bottom mount drawer guides

There are plenty of Kintsugi kits, lacquer, adhesives, etc on Amazon for that. I'd give it a try.

Well, today I swinged my driver really hard and hit and killed +250v and -500V sections. Here are the casualties… …RIP. While repairing I also replaced ksc5026 in 250v section with 2sc3675 and that seems to work all right. Can you find them? By the way – the first version of KGSShv power supply used 2sc3380 along with 2sa1486, later replaced by ksc5026 and ksa1156 plus a Zener diode.

I have heard some mumblings on a couple forums and blogs over the years of Clive shipping returns as new, and I’ve read some issues with support. I don’t know if it’s broadly true, but it doesn’t really surprise me, given that. I’m sorry, Greg. That really sucks. I totally forgot about your post on Chemex! I just have subconsciously been accidentally finding a YouTube video that showed this fold after reading yours.

I’ll have to check them out, hopefully there is a local supplier. Picked up these Amazon Basics Euro handles for the cabinets. The quality is surprisingly good. Solid stainless with quality look and feel. Best part was they were $1.15. Which is probably bad since I’m just supporting the Bezos and China.

That sucks, Greg, and agreed that there's a range of settings on the grinder for a reason and that if it's not even able to function within those settings out of the box, something isn't right. It's pretty absurd of them threaten a restocking fee for a device that isn't working and I'd fight that thru my CC if I were you if they go down that route. I also wouldn't be particularly shy about leaving a detailed review if needed. For now, I'd just move onto the next vendor and grinder and put it behind you as much as possible. Life is too short to be mad at coffee.

Augsburger, I would be equally upset in your shoes. That appears to be a high end grinder and you should fully expect a unit that functions day one, certainly within the provided settings. Really sorry you had that experience...I'd be pissed. Clive was good to me. I had one of the walnut knobs on the Bianca that wasn't right...they made it correct by getting another to me. A young lady was very helpful with this. Then there was a fitting that was supposed to be included so I could plumb it to my water source. The gent wasn't as outwardly friendly as the lady and less communicative via email throughout the process but low and behold the fitting showed up promptly. Shame they did not treat you equally well...it's a high end coffee shop where it's all about products and service IMO. Sipping an Ethiopia Work pour over. Damn the Ethiopians are blessed when it comes to coffee... HS I use the pre-folded filters and once I do the bloom and follow up with another 200+ grams of water I just give the slurry a good stir with a metal straw or the like and I don't have to do anything else assuming my grind is reasonably coarse, J. For what it's worth. HS

Yes that is so true. My dad died at the too-young age of 71 in 1994 and my mum at 85 in 2008. I'd give a whole lot to have them back to chat to over a few beers. Still miss them after all this time.

I think I just broke a record. Just hung up from a 5 1/2 hr. phone call with my Mom. I just don't have the heart to cut her short after everything she's been through lately. My ear hurts and I'm starving. She really needs an ear to bend though, and as tough as that was, I just want to make her a little happier. I'm sure after she's gone I'll wish I could talk to her for hours.

Here is something new that I might make more of... the SMD KGSSHV. This is really my attempt to build a "cheap" electrostatic amp to bring a great amp to the masses. Lofty goal and I have no idea if it will succeed but its worth a shot.

Spent over 8 hours in the ER, from 1AM to ~9:30AM. I'm OK. Well "ok." Don't have much use of my right hand which makes typing super fun. Docs not sure what's wrong with me ("Gee knucks we coulda told you that in under 5 minutes.") but they think it might be somethi9ng autoimmune related. Got prescribed ROIDS which might make me cranky. I'm sure no one will notice the difference. I have some really gross pics of my hand, b ut I'll spare y'all. Need to go get my scrip filled.
