We've updated the forum software to the latest major release. This release includes speed, security and visual improvements. One big change is that you can no longer login using your username - you must login using your e-mail address.

Since this is a major upgrade please post any issues that you run into.

Thanks Todd, seems to be running well. I will have to get used to the new visuals, but emotes carried over -

In the home page the icons of the forums won’t show and they display in a very horrible mosaic way.

I can’t find the “mark forum (or sub-forum) as read” button Found it, it’s in the top of the page under the user’s name-avatar menu.

No birthdays

Besides that it seems faster loading.

It just occurred to me. I uploaded my current avatar in 2008. I don't have a local copy.

Looks ok - I'l have to re-learn to navigate again.

The pages definitely load faster, and their content (like videos), too.

My avatar is gone. When I try to load a new profile picture, it fails because it's over the (new) 104.2 kB maximum. Since all my avatar pics have been from my phone cameras, they have all been in the 1mB to 2+mB. I suspect that the members, who lost their avatars, had avatar photos over the 104.2kB max.

I'll eventually get around to making and uploading a thumbnail version.

For those with avatar issues - try using the Internet Wayback Machine to pull your old avatar. That's what I just did to restore mine, which was all of 4kb.

Todd, as always thanks for holding this all together for so long.

Just one suggestion if it’s even an option - on mobile web the non-existent category forum graphics take up most of space, any way to disable?

Wondering the same as Ric. Simply hiding the graphics entirely would make the site a lot more usable on mobile. Thanks for your efforts!

I haven't seen that, but I do agree that the missing forum icons are taking a lot of space, I'll see what options are available to hide those, etc.

I am not sure what caused some avatars to disappear, I haven't seen anything that points to a specific bug for the time being re-upload them if you have them.

I tried a bunch of different browsers, but nothing worked. I also looked for a way to hide them, but no luck.

Yes, the main page is abysmal.

I am sure Todd knows but the main page is indeed a bummer. I still cant find the Birthdays list. The Unread Content page takes a long time to load and each back and forth clicking on threads is slow too. Don't know if that is related to the changes.

I’m still working on the above. It’s sort of a known issue (main page image funkiness) but the posted solutions don’t work for the specific issue that we have. I need to join the support forum for the software platform and I’ll see if anyone there can point to an actual solution. What is supposed to work is at the “user level” where if you click your own name at the top of the main page you’ll see a Theme Editor option which is supposed to allow you to be able to configure what you see/don’t see. I haven’t found a way that productively helps with the mobile version of the site and can’t find a way to set a tiny image as the stock forum image so at least the view might condense down while we find a better solution.

Thanks for the efforts, Nate. I hope there’s a solution, or that they deliver another update that fixes these issues.
