February 28, 201115 yr Good luck Jacob. 33% wage increase for about the same work load is a great deal. Dinny, get well soon. Or not, staying at home, if you're not feeling dying sick, is nice too. Take care mate
February 28, 201115 yr All it takes is 1 pain in the ass professor tho...95% of my work at NOAA comes from 2 researchers, one of whom is a professor in florida.
February 28, 201115 yr OMG, best of lucks! Way more money for less work... That's one of my wet dreams besides winning lottery
February 28, 201115 yr odds of winning the lottery are effectively the same whether you buy the tickets or not. Just look at the ground occassionally, you might find the winning ticket.
February 28, 201115 yr Good luck with the job app, Jacob. We have our fingers crossed for you. All it takes is 1 pain in the ass professor tho...95% of my work at NOAA comes from 2 researchers, one of whom is a professor in florida. You know how those Floridians are.
February 28, 201115 yr Yep, good luck with that Reks. If you could cut your PITA professors in half with a 33% raise, seems like win to me
February 28, 201115 yr Good luck Jacob! That sounds really good! Bryan, sorry about your contact. That really sucks.
February 28, 201115 yr save, save, save. i'm doing a 180 pivot this year, and so far its been much more tolerable than I thought it would be. its also intoxicating.
February 28, 201115 yr if i get the job, though, the question is whether i should start putting more money away every month, or buy even more crap i don't need. More crap!! Why save? Spring is coming and the fighting squirrels may attack you and then saving was just a waste. Seriously, good luck Jacob.
February 28, 201115 yr Just remember they put on their pants the same way we all do! I believe in saving to have a nice EARLY retirement. Since you did not have the income you did not need it so put it away in an matching type account that you employer sponsors. Good luck again.
March 1, 201115 yr Thanks John, it took most of the morning but I ended up going to a short notice eye appointment, got a new (and un-expired) prescription, and 4 more pairs of contacts. I'm looking forward to going back to glasses, to be honest. I also sat down and checked my upcoming schedule. This friday - interview in Chicago. Next Monday - exam. Next Tuesday - exam. Next Wednesday - exam. Next Thursday - exam. Next Friday - interview in Chicago. Why is my last semester such a motherfucking pain in the motherfucking ass? Lastly, good luck Jacob. March 1, 201115 yr Good luck with the interviews Brian. Relax. You've been through this before with the exams and you'll be fine.
March 1, 201115 yr Author Good luck on the interviews Reks and Bryan. Also realize i need to respond to a PM from you Bryan. Why do I only get notified for some PMs and not others?
March 1, 201115 yr Best of luck to both of you, may it work out for lots of joy and lots of money. I started my new job today, along with my new boss and new co-worker! Nice build-out they're doing, hiring several folks. We'll have some messes to clean and expectations to set, but this has already been started by a consultant I know well, and the future looks quite interesting for Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence!
