This is Zachary's Amp. And this is Zachary (with his dad Kristopher). Zachary was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) on March 23, 2007. This is a relatively rare form of cancer, affecting around 4000 Americans each year. Zachary and his family have been battling this disease for almost 4 years and it has taken a physical, mental and financial toll on the family. So how do I fit into this equation? I've known Zach's dad for something like 8 to 10 years, he works for one of my former company's biggest clients and while working together on a few projects we discovered that we shared a lot of common interests. We ended up being members …

Is it just me or do the smilie icons all look the same? Well, except for the confused, devil and afro ones. Even so, the question marks and the devil horns are really small. Sure, I can roll the cursor over them and see their labels while typing my post, but this doesn't work when reading a thread.

This thread is for the purposes of asking and answering questions about T-Shirts that you have either been unable to find anywhere else in this forum or asking a question that somehow seems inappropriate to ask in other threads. As long as the question has something to do with T-Shirts, anything goes (within respectable reason, of course). Your questions and their answers may be about anything that has to do with any type of T-Shirt.

Lately I've been trying to follow the push-up routine from one hundred push ups, which sounds like a good idea: 100 push-ups within a couple of weeks. Let's see if it works out (I started out at 19 max). Do you have a workout routine you use or can recommend, especially to gain some upper body strength and mass? Not trying to look good on the beach (there's isn't one here anyway), just want a more healthy mix between an underdeveloped upper body and soccer-abused lower body.

This conversation came up at a 4th of July BBQ last night and it became an animated and opinionated debate. About 75 percent of the men at the party said that they do pee in the bathroom sink mostly because it's convenient. So, how about you?

In my case, Before I automatically started ordering an isolation platform with any disc player. Before I lined up several portables in a level-matched (to sub-0.5dbs), blind-switch test. After all, if you're going to do it, you might as well do it properly unlike the fanboys. Before I could quite breezily say spending $10K on a used headphone was not entirely unjustifiable. Before I knew what word clocks were. Before Geekophilia. I think I might finally be approaching that phase.

I've been thinking about installing some USB power outlets in my house. With devices that USB wall chargers I've had mixed results. Some of my phones will only charge with a wall-wart that came with it for some reason. I'm a little worried that I'll have the same problem with USB outlets. Do any of you early adapter geeks have any experience with these. For those that haven't heard of them here's an example: TruePower UCS Power Outlet With Built in USB Ports - TruePower UCS Power Outlet With Built in USB Ports

Oh, dear. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-20029913-47.html via: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=607150 My take. The information content of losslessly compressed file and the original is identical. Try comparing the md5 hash of the source, and the expanded compressed file, or do a bitwise diff to see if that is the case. (Poor analogy: a word file reads the same, if came as a .doc file or contained in a .zip file) I think he's confusing the data container with the playback system, or succumbing to expectation bias: So while lossless audio compression (FLAC or Apple Lossless for example) can be "expanded" to produce an exact digital…

I posted this thread over at head-fi, and not one other person has posted their bike. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=177139. WTF are you telling me that Head-Fiers truly are a bunch of geeks that have no interest in riding motorcycles and going fast? Look at the last photo. Can anyone else show proof that they have gone faster on two wheels or even four wheels? FYI speedometers are wildly inaccurate; usually they are 15% to 30% optimistic at high speeds. I?ve owned motorcycles that I rode and the speedometers indicated that I was going 140 mph. When in reality the bikes top speed under perfect conditions was around 120 mph (118 according to te…

I like saying that three times fast. I may be very late to the game and this all common knowledge (from web search it certainly appears it's big with the hippies), but anyone else here try Castile soaps (buying or making - making)? A friend bought a bunch in prep for a camping trip (those 18-in-1 uses - body, shampoo, tooth-paste, aphrodisiac, bug repellant, etc.), so I gave it a try and man, if it's possible to be excited about liquid soap (it is!), this is it. Besides the strange pick-me-up (nose, skin and other sensations - easily conteracting the rum from the night before), with Dr. Bronners you're also entertained by the most unusual label I've seen in some ti…

I came across this on another forum, and some of the results were hilarious The game is simple: Unspecified figure A is stuck on Cliff 1, but needs to get to Cliff 2. He needs your help in drawing a means of crossing over the chasm so that he may move from Cliff 1 to Cliff 2. How will he get there? It's up to you and your imagination.

So after some time looking for a job I've been accepted for a position in MD that matches what I'm looking for. I have a car and all my belongings are here in CA so I'll be driving across the country to my new location with my essentials. I'll be shipping the nonessentials since it'll be easy to do so as they're still packed in moving boxes from my separation. My father will be travelling with me to help split the driving duties. As I haven't done a cross-country drive before, I'd like some input on the planned route which is this so far: Los Angeles, CA to Baltimore, MD - Google Maps I've mostly kept to the I-40 as I heard it's the better route to take, though I'm…
