Wild and Crazy Go Nuts!

  1. Many Contra Costa crooks won't be prosecuted That's madness. I'm guessing this is a publicity stunt to try and get more funding... but still a nutty move... Anarchy here we come? In the comments in the article someone mentions that this is already happening in SF but is kept "hush hush"?

Great movie. I can't think of any reason why anyone shouldn't see this flick. It took me a little while to see it, because when it was first recommended to me it was called a "dark comedy". And while in general I like "dark comedy", sometimes I find the term "dark comedy" actually means "boring" and "not funny" (think Death To Smoochy). Lots of fantastic acting, from the oldest actor (heroin using grandpa played by the always kick ass Alan Arkin) to the youngest actor (little girl, character named Olive), the characters are all real and engaging. Also starring Greg Kinnear and Steve Carrell, who continues to impress me with his incredible talent range. He'll snatch a B…

This morning I was watching "Wright Brothers: First in Flight", an interesting, historical TV show. I highly recommend it if you are at all interested in flight and/or history. After their first successful flight, they walked 4 miles to telegraph the news back to Dayton, OH. I wondered why they walked. It was 1903 so I can believe that they didn't have an automobile and there probably wasn't a suitable road for one on Kitty Hawk. But why didn't they have horses or a wagon? Then I remembered that they were bicycle builders. So my question of the day is "Why didn't the Wright brothers ride bicycles to the telegraph office?

Joanne wanted to see Vancouver, so that's what we are going do next week. Thanks to the internet (esp. Hotwire.com: Discount airfare, hotel reservations, car rentals, vacation packages and cruises) , we've arranged transport and accommodation downtown at all the above locations 5 nights Vancouver, 2 Nights Victoria, 3 Nights Seattle, in that order (with coach / ferry Vancouver to Victoria, Victoria clipper to Seattle) We plan on mostly walking / using public/mass transit, but we might rent a car for one for one day to visit whistler, depending on the weather while we are there. As ever, Chowhound Boards - Chowhound, have come up with lots of recommendations for …

I liked Paul Newman as an actor, but most for his generosity when giving from his food business. It was estimated that his food business generated close to 90 million or possibly more for various charities and causes. He will be dearly missed.

  19. Hi Guys, Now the following enquiry may come accross as being something silly, but I would greatly appreciate your help! So here goes:palm: When I finally purchase my first headphone amp, how should I connect this to an AV amp that already has a headphone input socket. When plugging in headphones the external speakers, ''as you all know'' cut off and the sound automatically goes through the headphones I currently have a Denon AVC A1SE, of which I intend to keep hold of, so do I place a headphone jack adaptor in the socket, and connect the headphone amp into the analogue inputs, unless the amp has Digital Coax / or fiber optic....will this be correct.…

  21. So, my son wants to go to CSU in Fort Collins like his mother, to study Biomedical Sciences (pre-med). Tonight he got an email offering him one of the 72 slots for freshmen in the program. It's gonna be strange with his sister going to a rival school, CU Boulder (Go Buffs, Go Rams, Go Buffs, Go Rams!). At least there's only one year of overlap before she graduates. I had dreams of them sharing a car and apartment for that year, but CU Boulder would make him live in the dorms his first year anyway, so part of that plan wouldn't have worked. I went to Texas A&M at the same time that my older brother went to Texas University (we Aggies can't call it University of Te…
