As a music critic and journalist, I can get pretty jaded about listening to the new CDs that cross my desk (or, increasingly, the digital downloads or streams that are grudgingly entrusted to me by record labels through top-secret back alleys of the Interwebs). But I can

I love to read and don't mind a challenge but I started reading Proust again and I think he is the most difficult author to read. His sentences are insanely long, often times taking up a long paragraph's worth of space. He also writes with an iron fist. If you're mind wanders for even a bit you'll often times be lost. This is a striking difference between his work and let's say Ulysses where your mind can drift as often as the protagonist's and be on the same page. What author or authors give you trouble?

Prebable: Jeff (VPI Vinlyspinner) was kind enough to invite me to indulge in a taste test of a matched pair of small, round (with a hole in the middle) glazed donuts from Britts. I was happy to oblige. Actually, he just did a head nudge towards the kitchen and said, "You better hurry or they'll all be gone." In any case, I would like to publicly slobber all over Jeff (in a strictly figurative sense) for having had the opportunity to ingest a couple of the above poorly described donuts. Heading 2: (To further set the stage - because I like being on stage - in the desperate hope of making others believe that what follows will somehow be worth reading) While I …

So I'm humidor shopping. Anyone know of a good online retailer? I've been browsing around at Thompson Cigar, and I really like the looks of this one.. Seems to fit the bill: spanish cedar, good size. Hard to know the quality though without holding it in my hands, but I'd like to avoid paying full retail at the local tobacconist if possible. Having said that, I'd rather pay for quality the first time rather then struggling through a bunch of crappy humidors. Where I live its hot and humid most of the year, if that makes any difference. Thanks!

So... For all of the super comics guys/gals here I've been eagerly anticipating the DC Comics Blackest Night Event, me being a "casual" and rather new comics reader I went to my local shop and created a "box" to subscribe to the series. It's maybe 6ish issues in now (crossovers) and I wanted to see what everyone thinks so far. To be honest yesterday I said to myself, all of these issues so far are pretty weak albiet highly rated by the comics community. Pretty much every issue I've read centers around the fact that the dead are coming to life and pwning all life... Sounds exactly to me like Marvel Zombies But in all seriousness, I'm TO'd that this is ALL that…
