Headphones

I am thinking about sending a NIB pair of Grado 325is to Headphile and have them made into Vixens. Do any of you have a pair? If so, how do you like them compared to the unmodded unwoodied Grados?

Do my Dad really enjoyed himself at the NYC Meet. He liked the people and had a great time listening to the awesome rigs. He used to be an audio enthusiast (stereo/speaker, not headphone) and I think the Meet might have rekindled the flame. So I've officially fallen off the wagon again as I got one of these just now. I swore I was done buying headphones but clearly not... So I just put them on my head so listening impressions will come later but first some over all impressions. Now the case...the case is super retarded whoever came up with should be patted on the back for being super "special". It's pretty much Head-fi in a case form, has wank factor off the scale but is utterly useless. Way, way too heavy too. I was reading various Sony brochures, but still can't figure this out. Will ECR500 box work with ECR 600 and vice versa? Does anyone here have ECR600 box? I will have two ECR500 boxes soon and would gladly trade ECR600 box for one of my 500 boxes it it will work with ECR500 to check out what the differences are.

Hello I bought pair of SR-3 year ago. I knew they had failure, left driver was quiet, right driver was only little louder. After year I've decided to give them new life this spring. At the first I've discovered holes in diaphragm of the left driver as you can see in the picture. I decided to use 2um mylar to make new diaphragm for both drivers and self made coating with some antistatic spray+isopropanol. Now I am sitting with them and writing this post, they sound great, with good bass, with sweet and not sharp highs.

I recently acquired a set of SR5N earspeakers, with white color. I am asking that how can one's decide if it is a gold editon or not?

I just picked up a pair of these and would be interested in hearing from fans/owners here. They have a very lush sound but I'm finding them a bit muffled at the frequency extremes compared to RS1s and balanced HD650s. I'd be grateful for any suggestions on amping these (I have a Headroom balanced desktop amp) that might clear up the congestion, since I'd really like to like these phones even more. But maybe that's just how these vintage phones sound? Source is the HR's built-in DAC and a Primare CDP. thanks and best, k

Hello. I'm new here on the forums, as well as to this audiophile hobby, and want to buy my very first pair of hi-fi headphones. I live in Brazil, and the options here are very scarce. I recently had the opportunity to get the HE-400 new(latest revision, with velour pads) for a fair price, and wanted to know your opinion on them. Has anyone here ever heard them? Do they offer a good sound/price ratio? Can you tell me more about its sound signature and qualities? Thanks, and sorry if i've made any grammar mistake. hey guys... Well, i sent my HF1's in to transform them into HHF1's. They are goign to be the only solid ebony woodies for now I guess.. I basiclly dropped an arm and a leg to get one of the most exclusive pairs he's going to make. It's not that i care so much about it being exclusive, but when you want something I guess you forget your brains and go stupid. I was hoping somebody could help me out here. Currently I use Phillips SHE9503/10 in-ear earphones. They get the job done, and I felt as though I got a bargain with them. Im definitely happy with those. However my listening experience has lessened of late. I find I take too long putting the buds in my ears, and a lot of times when turn my head the wires would catch on my jacket button, making me start the process of fitting the buds back in my ears. And sometimes I feel them sliding out so I have to constantly adjust. All the while my song is being played and im not listening to it properly. Anyway, because of all this I was thinking about replacing them with headphones. …

While I am waiting for my HP's to be serviced, does anyone have any recommendations for something that can tide me over until then? Budget probably 200-300 as once the HP'1000's come in they will be taking full time. Would prefer not to go the hd650 route again as they just don't satisfy me musically regardless of the number of times I've had them and various rigs (about as much as the HP1000 actually). Definitely not into the k701. Thoughts are the allesandrom MS2i and audio technica ad2000 (i believe that is the model that a lot of people have been praising). There is an odd mark that looks like an imperfection on the wood that shows up under T in "statement" in a few of the photos. Can't for the life of me figure out what is causing that, because it definitely isn't there when I look at them. Impressions to come!

Anybody has any experience before? I currently hook 950 from KGSS. My fellow hobbyist from where I live was raving about 404LE and said its a better headphone than 950 and I should get it to complement the 950. FWIR also 404LE got a gleaming review almost everywhere. But no one is yet to comment VS 950. As usual, any comments or advise will be appreciated

i want to know if the 20 step up is worth it i cant get a clear sense with just stats. please help me out, buying my first pair of headphones, i tried my dads old SR-60s (idk if its the same as the "i") (i if it applies) i listen to mostly jam and live music (audience recordings, or soundboard) but i like techno (bass) and good mids do these work out, or better low cost choice?

Is it possible to remove a grado driver and leave the cup intact? I want to remove some drivers from their plastic housings without cutting up the housing. I watched the grado assembly video on their site and they just pop in the front and are secured with a little CA I'm guessing. My though was to cut out as much of the driver as I could, then soak it face down in acetone. What do you think?

Since I already have a pair of rs-1s, anyone think it would be worth owning a set of these too? Anyone want to compare them and stuff? How are they different?

Regarding the K701, well, I happen to own them. What might be regarded as interesting is that I use them to listen to EDM FM recordings (weekly). The resolution, plasticity, definition, tightness, nuances and the overall quality of the bass (if the bass is there in the recording, and it is very recording dependent - and recording are made by humans) the way it hits is, on the headphone amp I am using, with somewhat good source - breathtaking. Senn HD600 have different qualities, and are more of a blunt tool so to speak, in comparison, although very often put in the same box together with the AKG K701.
