I was reading various Sony brochures, but still can't figure this out. Will ECR500 box work with ECR 600 and vice versa? Does anyone here have ECR600 box? I will have two ECR500 boxes soon and would gladly trade ECR600 box for one of my 500 boxes it it will work with ECR500 to check out what the differences are.

  3. Started by Les Adams,

A couple of years ago I purchased a pair of Sony MDR-7520 professional studio headphones costing circa £300. Last week I dropped them and the plastic mount on the headband snapped. I contacted Sony spares to arrange for the to be repaired and was told to call their service agent CVP. CVP told me a complete new headband was required... the cost? A STAGGERING £576! £230 for "parts" and two hours labour + VAT. When I queried it I was told that was the price and there was nothing I could do, but they offered to sell me a new pair! To compound the stupidity of this quote, it is the SAME headband as used on the MDR-7510 which has different drivers and sells …

Good morning, my first post here, Jan. 1st 2009. I'm looking ofr Sony MDR CD 3000 earpad : mine are curiously deteriorating. My Sony dealer asks here a 100 euros for these. A bit steep. Is there some place in the US or Europe where I could find it for less ? Regards Stampes

  5. Hi all, I should buy a pair of in-ear headphones, High-end (120 to 200 €) for my good old creative zen x-fi 16GB. Whereas I usually listento classical music, jazz, old rock and healthy, in essence, I need some earphones quite linear, and not the usual unbalanced bass! the choice is between these: Sony MDR EX600 Sony MDR EX-700 HiFiMan RE-262 Shure SE315 What I need is a justified comparison between the selected models. Thanks to all

One of the rubber earpads came off. If you own a pair of these you know it's impossible to put these back on. Is there a plan B?

  7. APureSound received a damaged Sony 10 headphone, but this story is just the beginning. Let me just say a company most everyone knows made a HUGE f-up tried to hide it lying to the customer ect. Well worth the read. I would just post here, but too much effort redoing everything. Click on the image below to read more!

How would I go about getting Sony replacement pads? I've got a MDR-F1 that looks like it's on its last legs.

There is an excellent feature on headphones for use as studio monitors in this month's issue of Sound On Sound. Check it out if you can - it is interesting to hear about the opinions of various engineers using the same headphones that we purchase for the pleasure of listening.

The alcantara pads on my workhorse HD800s are rotten and I'd love to replace them. Over the years I've always been able to buy spare parts directly from Sennheiser, but no distributor seems to carry them for shipping to the U.S. at the moment. I don't want to ruin these by putting aftermarket Beyerdynamic pads or whatever on them, I just want to pay Sennheiser an ugly markup for parts they apparently no longer want to keep in stock. Does anyone have a line on a real supplier for these?

  15. Hi y'all, Having a bit of a conundrum with my Stax SR-007 Mk1 (S/N 71169) electrostatic earspeaker. As reported in another HC thread of mine (decided to start a new one here because this was getting quite off-topic there), the right driver's inner dust cover somehow got torn and hence some pretty serious mold damage took place inside. As a result, a rather severe channel imbalance ensued. Opening up the driver for cleaning and assessing the extent of the damage revealed that the diaphragm coating got affected. After having a look at the Japanese Stax repair page (with the help of Google Translate), I learned that Any international inquiry regarding servi…

Does anybody else not give a flying fuck that it sounds “artificial?” I’ve had Max for a while (and I adore them), but my shitty Ankers that I used for exercise gave up the ghost (they were good enough until they didn’t work anymore), so I bought a pair of AirPods Pro (my backup “Letscom” weren’t doing it for me). This pair had the non-spatial firmware out of the box. Took a day for it to update (Apple seriously needs to fix the firmware update situation). Spatial on the Pro sounds nothing like “natural.” It sounds fucking great on the Esther Phillips I’m currently listening to, though. I could listen to my JH on the go, but then I have to deal with a cable, and wha…

So in trying something new, HeadAmp is now offering the Spirit Torino headphones from Italy. These are my 3 favorite models...I'll have to do a lot more listening to see which is definitely the favorite, but all of these shine in their own way. The Radiante is a closed back and may be the most interesting of the bunch. Anyone going to be at the DC meet next weekend? I might also look at doing a loaner program for these. Very few people have heard them yet

  21. There's a pair of really nice looking SR-404LE's for sale at another site. $700.00 ... I got the itch to pull the trigger just because; fatter cable, swanker looks, leather pads ... and supposedly pretty great on the Lambda scale (I've read the main threads here at Hcase re: such)... But already having the 307's (my secondary cans) and some Koss ESP950's (my main, most loved cans) ... just not sure if I'd regret a $700 purchase for a minimal improvement over either of my current cans (especially the ESP950's which I consider quite dramatically better than my 307's... Really pretty, though, that's for sure. Also not sure if $700 used is fair or not ...

I just contacted the Stax distributor about replacement foam for the earpad side of my Lambda Pros. The response was that now they offer either foam or cloth, and that each is integral to the earpad. $35 and $55, respectively. That raises a couple questions. Foam or cloth? Cloth would seem more practical. Has anybody tried the cloth? Is there a sonic difference? For that matter, what's the difference between foam and nothing at all? The earpds on my headphones seem fine. I guess one could make the argument that they could be replaced based on age alone. What should I make of the bundling of the pads and foam/cloth? Is there any performance or design difference betwe…

Hi folks, a few years ago, I followed my preference for Quad electrostatic speakers into headphone territory & now have Stax 'new' sr3, sr Lambda & sr 404 signature ear speakers. Would you, dear reader, be tempted into buying a pair of sr 407s if you had the three models I already have, and if so, why?
