I was just wondering how this amp would work as a headphone amp. It doesn't have a headphone jack but the speakers are connected with rca plugs into rca jacks on the back of the amp. It is rated at 1.2 watts at 1000 Hz with 10% distortion. I read that it puts out .75 watts per channel with very low distortion into 8 ohm speakers. My question is how would it work to connect headphones directly to the speaker jacks with an adapter? Would any modifications need to be made? I'll be using the kgsshvampv16mini.zip for the amp boards and kgsshvpsminifinalstn9360.zip for the PSU boards. The amp boards are the one-board-per-channel, off-board heatsink version. so, I'm working on a rear panel for a preamp. I'm going to use the high-density Neutrik XLR connectors and some nice compact RCA connectors. So, what do you think so far? (rename the .txt to .fpd to see the entire panel, not just the subsection that the .jpg is zoomed in on) I still need to add a umbilical cable connector (6 conductor) and a barrel jack and tidy things up a bit... I was inspired by Frank Cooter's PTP wiring amps he took to the LA meet. So inspired in fact, that I was thinking on building Kevin's KGTT. Besides him and Kerry (and probably Birgir), is there anybody out there who has built it and could post pics of their builds? My first clumsy attempt at a layout looks bad and it won't improve until I get all the components and have an idea of their size and shape. as most of us know that beats studios require batteries to properly work. i got my hand on a pair of demo/Retail version of beats studios. these headphones arent wired to have batteries placed in them and the audio input ccable is hard wired to avoid theft. i got a good deal on these, with a spliced cable, what im trying to do here is wire them up so i can use them. Hi guys,here is my hybrid e-stat amp design using only ONE cascoded voltage gain stage and a solidstate buffer which translate the high output impedance of the voltage gain stage into low impedance. The cascode voltage gain stage uses an ECC88 as input tube, for its low noise and high transconductance, and a 6SN7GTA/GTB to bear the high voltage(anode voltage is around 350V to get reasonable voltage swing). This stage will get approximately 200x, or 46dB gain. And please note that, the grids of ECC88 is biased at around -420V, so you can't really go DC-coupled, coupling capacitors or transformers have to be used. Greetings. I recently bought a used Sennheiser HD600 from a friend for practically nothing more than a song, knowing it had problems with the cable on the right side. There is intermittent continuity, so the audio keeps cutting out if the cable is moved just so. I know there are several manufacturers that make replacement cables such as Clou and Cardas, but I don't feel like spending CAD$200 on -wire- right now. (yes, some of you will call me insane for not immediately picking up the Cardas or Clou cable. I was hunting around in the garage last night and came across an old t-amp I put together many moons ago and it has a TKD pot attached, I bought it quite a while ago and don't recall where from. Are these any good? It's 50k so I figured it'd probably be ok for either the SS I'm about to start or maybe even the Dyna. I can't find too much info on it and nobody mentions them. looks the same as this which is listed as a Ko-on. Anyone familiar with these?

Below is -=Germania=-'s handy work for your viewing pleasure. The unit is an opus dac with usb receiver and a 41hz amp 6 t-amp. The big pictures are of the power supply to the amp that is now making a ticking sound. The front LED is no longer being powered. There is also a low hum from the unit, but I can't tell which board it is coming from. I have a multimeter and soldering iron, so if theres something uncomplicated to try, I am game. I built my power conditioner, so I'm not a total noob, but I never learned how to read circuits. Biggie.

I am in need of a preamp with some gain and I was thinking about a DIY tube preamp. Doesn't need to have crazy high gain as the power amps will have voltage gain as well. Right now what looks attractive is the K&K Audio active output stage. The level 2 kit comes with most parts including the OPTs. Looks like a fairly good design to me? If not any other suggestions? Preferably something that is well documented.

For the dynahi I am building (in the builds thread), I would like to use one of the vandal switches (like a Bulgin) in blue ring. What would you recommend, and if it needs anything to run it (SS relay, E24 board or whatever) note any recommendations there also. Not sure I want to mess with another transformer/PCB, but will if it is worth it. Case is a hifi2000 Pessante Dis. I have both silver and black faceplates, but was leaning towards black for this one. I will have the faceplate done by either FPE or the other place on the east coast (if I can figure their S/W out Thanks for any thoughts.

Hi All, I have an abundance of 6sn7 family tubes and I wish to make a headphone amplifier using ONLY the 6sn7 throughout. I have been looking but cant find anything - Either OTL or TX output, I dont mind, I would think that the 6sn7, especially in parallel would have enough juice to supply my Sennheiser HD650. I've read as much as a I on the topic and there seems to be fair arguments for both amps. It seems HC fosters a fair few with impressions of both amps, so I figured I'd ask here for opinions. My situation is this: I don't plan to begin building/organising the eventual winner of this topic for at least 5 months, but as the changing of hands of djgardner's KG amp stash to AMB has offered me a wonderful oppurtunity. Get the boards and the majority of the transistors from one place, and Ti even offers matching which would cut down on alot of the hassle. The unit has several fuses (4), of which I have not been able to find the following: 3 Amp 125 Volt (Size 1.25" by 0.25") - need one 3.3 Amp 125 Volt (Size 1.25" by 0.25") - need two The closest I have found are: 3A 3AG FUSE | AllElectronics.com Would it work two replace the 3.3 amp fuse? Hello Head-Case I am working on an amp using this transformer in a PP output from a 6h30 tube. I would like to know if anyone has had experience with wiring the secondaries in various series/parallel configurations as indicated on the datasheet for different stepdown ratios to drive different load impedances The schematics & articles I could find which use this transformer for headphone use (the Raven, and a few from Andrea Ciuffoli) dont make mention of using the secondaries this way, where other a few others with sowter & "unknown to me iron" do. I think its something worth exploring, but would like to know ahead of time if its a waste of time.
