It amazes me too, but the Dr. did tell me that fingers heal very fast. The cool thing that I didn't expect is that it seems to have filled out. It doesn't really look like a carrot anymore, because the finger has widened. Weird, but cool. It won't look just like the others, but not nearly as strange as I first thought. Have good feeling all the way down to the tip, too. The nurse says she wished all patients were more like me. It was much harder on her when pulling out the stitches. One had grown over and she was so worried that it was going to hurt. It did hurt, but her, not me. Us gay guys are tougher than you think. No need to wash the thumb in a peroxide/water solution anymore, and only another week for the finger. No need to bag the hand when showering anymore. Yay! IMO everything needs a port for a plug!10 points

Obviously, since Stax has been making electrostatic headphones since before Dr. Fang Bian was born, they don't have a clue about, um, er, ah... Dr. Fang Bian (in Emily Litella voice): Never mind. Likely trying to push his new limited voltage output 300B stat amp with 6SN7 drivers. With those tubes, wonder how he got enough voltage gain?2 points
-
does the original T2 qualify as overpowering? because it runs on +500 and -550v and has more voltage swing than a bhse or any other electrostatic amp, diy or commercial. only exception is the koss esp950 which is designed for its own headphones. And i guess the original jeklin transformer box. now if you have a cavalli piece of shit with no output protection, or a transformer box, then yep you can and will do damage.2 points

Great guy. I remember when his Dad was killed while Steve was a college player. Solid player for Cleveland. And then for Da Bulls. Actually met him while waiting in line to get in to Walker Brothers pancake house in Chicago shortly after he left Cleveland to join Chicago. I turned around, and there he was, right next to me. I said 'hi', shook his hand. Told him we'd miss him in Cleveland, wished him luck with the Bulls. Chatted for a bit. Really nice, regular guy. My brother's story is that his daughter is the same age as his, and played in a traveling volleyball league that played against his daughter's team . So they're all in Florida together, hanging out at some bar, and they see Steve Kerr. One Dad in my brother's group is a former American Gladiator, is still huge, looks like a kick sand in your face and then kick your ass kind of guy, but is actually a really nice guy. Just looks like he'll kill you for the sport of it. Kerr sees him across the bar. He tells his friend 'damn, look at that guy. I wouldn't want to meet up with HIM in a dark alley!' Kerr's friend happens to know a guy in my brother's group so tells him what he said and how funny it'd be to set Steve up for a scare. American Gladiator guy says sure, it'll be fun. Walks over to Steve Kerr, 'accidentally' bumps into him, spills his drink. Says 'hey, what are you doing, you want a piece of me tough guy? Let's step outside and settle this.' Kerr's face fills with terror. 'No, man! I don't want any trouble! Let me buy you a drink!' Kerr is a little guy. Very peaceful, avoids fights. American Gladiator guy stares him down for a few seconds, the bar gets really quiet. Kerr looks like he's having a panic attack. American Gladiator guy laughs, 'nah, I'm just fuckin' with you. Your buddy over there set you up!' The whole group is cracking up, they buy Steve a drink. All good. He's a great sport.2 points

Sorry, it was in the group buy thread. Also he mentioned that R1 and R3 should be 422 ohms, not 402. I got my Dynalo all back up and running, offset dialed in, GRLV. Listening, it sounds very good. I can't tell if it sounds better than it did with the sigma22; I think so but going from memory. I also had found that I had miswired the switch I use for SE->BAL input; it had left the - input floating when in SE mode, so I corrected that. Flipping back and forth, I couldn't tell any difference. Might have to actually listen to this with balanced in one of these days, if I can get my XLRs back from my son2 points

If it is anything like the 009's/L700/L500 then I might give them a miss. So tired of that fake sound.1 point

I bought a bunch of LEDs to test the voltages. I liked the LTST-C170CKT since it had a high Vf. Changing the LED will have a big effect on the output current if it's not matched to the resistor.1 point

goldenreference6d posted, 2 x output power connectors. one should be the short variety, and the other one the taller one, or the angled one. board is now 3.95 x 4.32 inches its better to not use the pots and resistors, it probably increases the tempco. if you hand select the feedback resistors, or buy .1% parts its a better idea.1 point

my guess is that the transient part is all discrete, and very similar to the soekris with fewer bits. and like the soekris, opamps to do the se to balanced, and more opamps to do the filter. there are no off the shelf 24 bit dac chips. if there was, things would be much easier regardless of their price1 point

The UPD-203 is out now – they've released the stats, etc. on the product page. The transport, DACs, user interface, etc. are all updated. First review (not much about audio quality): http://www.techhive.com/article/3151112/home-bluray/oppo-udp-203-4k-uhd-blu-ray-player-review-a-class-act-with-awesome-audio-capabilities.html The UDP-205 is coming out in early 2017.1 point

I completely agree that a chip, or hybrid solution would be best. In fact the concept of using a laser trimmed metal foil R2R network, where the foil network was layed down by photolith ought to be superb, hermetically sealed and dry nitrogen filled. Cheap it would not be...1 point

I added some LEDs to my phono stage. I used LM317 in the spirit of the original Pass Xono. Wanted something subtle and channeled Nate a bit on hatred of bright blue LEDs1 point

Given that we do the same to meat and it's the traditional Christmas meal I can't say I'm surprised. One of the breweries also used dried whale in one of their brews which caused a lot of ruckus. In other news, I've been experimenting with making beer bread where I take the barley after they are done with it and use it in bread. Tastes pretty awesome and I've also been making sour dough out of the barley by letting it ferment a bit. One of the most challenging mixes to work with was Surtur which is also one of the most non-PC names you can find. No other way of translating that except "blackie"...1 point
