Let's bring up an old favorite. Ievan Polkka is a traditional Finnish folk song. It's been recorded by many artists, but most famously by Loituma in the mid 1990s. About a dozen years after they initially recorded it, the song went viral as typically nonsensical internet meme. Late last year the song went viral again when it a version by blind Turkish street musician Bilal Göregen went viral: While his skills are impressive, I must admit I never particularly liked this version. First off I find repetition he uses to be bothersome, secondly he just can't compete with the four part harmony of the Loituma version. I realize this a wholly unfair comparison. Of course the Kiffness did a remix of Bilal's version, which is an improvement but in my jaded opinion still underwhelming. This version by a group of Finnish women is impressive for its insane speed if nothing else: The end of it would make a gabba DJ do a doubletake. Not to be outdone by a song they recorded 25 years ago going viral yet again, Loituma did a "zoom call" version earlier this year. You'll have to click through to watch this version because YouTube won't allow an embed. It's worth it, I promise. TL;DW: Loituma still have it a quarter of a century later, though I notice that the singer (I am not even going to attempt Finnish names) who does the most iconic part of the song (the bit looped in the original meme, which where the titualar Ievan is asserting that she is having too much fun at a party and will not leave) does NOT project like she did in the original version. She still hits all the notes (and, ahem, words) and conveys the feeling behind them but just not with the same power. This live version from 1996 is still the best version for plainly obvious reasons. 100% Finnish projection. This other live version ca. 1996 is also excellent. Sadly, there's another version of this video with 14M views that use (otherwise fine) album version audio. The recorded version is fine, but given how much energy there is in this performance, it's a travesty to strip the audio out of it. There's a bunch of "club" mixes of the Lotiuma version from the mid 00s. They're all unimaginably bad and absolutely ruinous to the original. Avoid them like the plague. Ievan Polkka remains an enduring meme that succeeds largely because it's such an infectious, timeless song. Even if one doesn't speak a single word of an extinct regional dialect of an already impenetrable language. 10/10 would Barillas dilla deiaduu badaba daga daga daga daga dujaduu again.3 points

You will not regret it, CS. Takes a bit of patience and it's best if you have a double walled French press and you will lose temp, but it is indeed very tasty. I am excited. Two new coffees awaiting me for my lazy Saturday and one sample Memli tossed in for sport. This one in particular has piqued my interest... Keep in mind that I do the exact opposite of “latte art,” on purpose, because I yam wut I yam. This was a very good flat white. I ground the coffee (a light Honduran single origin roasted on June 21) a little too coarse, but I still got a well pressure-profiled shot: just a littlej channeling when I hit 7 bars, but not the “it’s too fine channeling.” It’s hard to explain if you haven’t used a fully manual set up. Oatly barista blend heated on the stove and then foamed with a NanoFoamer. I could have tapped out more large bubbles before transferring to the pouring vessel, but “anti-latte art,” and all. The NanoFoamer has a bit of a learning curve, but so does a steam wand. I can reliably produce the sort of foam, hard or soft, long stretch or short, now. I’m happy enough given my kitchen situation.2 points

Well, I finally bit the bullet and placed an order for the Clear. I thank you all dearly for your enablement. There is a definite risk that they will be too forward and trebly for me, but even in a world where we are absolutely spoiled for choice in mid-high end headphones, I can still see dealbreaking flaws in many of the direct competitors. LCD-X is just too damn heavy. HD800s too analytical and thin for my tastes. Arya too expensive for comparable quality. Auteur expensive, and while they may be amazing, the 'unknown' factor was a bit much.2 points

Clears arrived today. Now, for someone who hasn't listened to anything better than the HD650 and SR-Lambda for almost 10 years, let me just say.....Jesus fuck these things are good. And this is just from my phone! I've only got my Crack at home which is a terrible match, can't wait to get these to work to pop them on a proper/suitable amp. But for now, I can hear visceral and crisp bass that extends down seemingly for ever, incredible detail in just about every part of the frequency response, and it's all so alive in a way that the HD650 just can't match. The overall tone is spot on to my tastes. I can completely understand where they will come across as 'too much', where there might be sheen, and I completely agree with @gepardcv that the headband comfort could use some work. All things considered, color me very impressed. I've definitely missed a lot in my time away.1 point

Thanks James. It certainly looks like dn2540 has been flipped. After consulted the schematics and checked the board I do believe the silkscreen is correct.1 point

your dn2540 looks to be in backwards compared to the silkscreen.... the hashed section on the silkscreen indicates the metal tab... perhaps this could be because your silkscreen is wrong or maybe the builder has modified the pcb?? have you checked which pin is connected to what compared to the schematic? and looked at the dn2540 data sheet to confirm the orientation?1 point

I'm not in the mood for a biscuit. This is for scientific purposes only. I have a theory that my ingestion of biscuits might be able to counteract the disastrous effects of Brent's consumption of biscuits. Kind of a good witch vs. bad witch kind of thing. Please post your positive and negative encounters today, so that we may evaluate my theory.1 point

I did have two biscuits on Tuesday, but that was AFTER the 3 record-setting days of heat in a row in Seattle. Now, I'm just drinking. Well, technically working, but also drinking. Gotta stay hydrated, and I chose to do that with 54% water.1 point

Nope, nothing missed, I didn't say! I will be pairing them with my AMB γ2 DAC and M3 amp. Although I am currently building a new R-2R DAC with Soekris DIY modules to replace the γ2.1 point
