  1. My favorite days at work are when I get to do something a little creative and unusual. This is the boss' new house. This is the back side of the new kitchen peninsula that I built. Will finish the other sections tomorrow. This was a crappy fence the previous homeowner built badly. Now it's kitchen art.
  2. Quiche that is a little more rustic than intended, but still delicious. Roasted potatoes, grilled zucchini, chèvre, herbs, and crust made with whole wheat pastry flour.
  3. Taking A Chance On Love Jane Monheit 2004 Example:
  4. This morning I built a rustic Redwood table to go on the deck of my boss' new house. Next up, benches. Last week I built a similar table for his dining room.
  5. 16:1, 15 gram dose, 210 degrees, 2:30 draw-down. Gem dripper and a CAFEC filter. What an amazing coffee. I’ve mostly pulled shots with this, but I think it shines the most as filter. It’s so bright and citrusy and really strongly tastes like hibiscus (they nailed that descriptor) and deep, deep almonds, but it’s not acidic or bitter. It… tastes how you imagine coffee must, when you were a child and saw an adult enjoy a cup. I’m just blown away. I think I have the Ode dialed in for pour-over, more or less: I’m very happy with it (grounds bin doesn’t even bother me now that I’ve figured out to not use the spout built in).
  6. Why do I like synced light shows so much?
  7. It's a great album. I've got most of her other albums, but this one is special.
  8. My project this weekend is designing and building a rack to store lumber in the storage unit. Also trying to come up with something for storing a lot of it as my house.
  9. Are you saying that it does not take you months to finish a project? Starting and finishing in one day seems impossible based upon my 4 months for bedside tables project experience.
  10. Have an incredible day!
  11. I just made a 15x15 pourover of the levercraft yemenia qima alchemy. It's definitely NOT my favorite cup ever, but it's pretty interesting. Very floral and bright, without the sharp acidity that usually accompanies light roasts. The aroma, both of the beans and the cup, is fantastic. The body is light, I may go for a higher ratio next time, or maybe even luongo espresso.
  12. You'll love the Niche, Sherwood. Although they irritate me with their she-she packaging (costly IMO), Onyx Coffee Labs has exceptional coffee. They have a sampler box that I think is a super value...might be worth a shot. Happy caffeinating... HS
  13. My Niche Zero just arrived, as did parts for my busted Italian E61. Looking forward to fixing a machine and enjoying some clever dripper coffee while I do. Anyone have any recommendations for crazy coffee I should try? I have a favorite roaster in Colorado Springs I just bags off, but frankly I know next to nothing.
  14. pics from rayofsi of tran's cfa3. slightly sloppy in places, but nowhere near the megatron fuck job. pics of carbon and ss dynahi coming later.
  15. and here I am at the office getting ready to drink a sadly Laughing Man Hugh's Blend K-cup....whining noises ensue. HS
  16. Is anyone going to check out this tour? I have a mighty need but I'm not sure if a trip south is in the cards for me.
  17. It's the Rage Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
  18. Anything worthwhile is unwieldy and ridiculous.
  19. Can buy a Merc with that collection...
  20. happy birthday dusty!!!
  21. Happy Birthday, Peter! Hope it's been wonderful.
  22. Hope it's been a good one! Cheers!
  23. ^^^ Love that, my favorite album of hers! Can listen to that over Diana Krall 99 times out of 100....
  24. Happiest of Birthdays!
  25. Happy Birthday, Peter!!! I wish you enjoy a great day
  26. To be fair there is the advantage of creating a more seamless transition from computer screen to car windshield. If only there were virtual wipers that occasionally appeared.
  27. Happy Birthday, Dusty!
  28. A very happy birthday to you, Peter.
  29. Ended up heading to Texas to pick up the Supermax as it was a bit too large of a project for my dad. Smaller than I expected, which is perfect and really no sign of wear at all. Got it all put back together after transport to the farm where it will live until I have time to drive the truck down to pick it up.
  30. Cheers Peter Happy Birthday!
  31. Happy birthday, chalk-man!
  32. Cheers Peter - Happy Birthday and (party favour noise)
  33. Have a truly awesome day mate! Happy birthday!!
  34. I gave Foundation a try. I have not read the trilogy (or any other material). I made it to episode 4, and I found that I still didn't care about the characters, so I stopped. I think it was partially the way the story is being told. A character has a huge emotional reaction, and you don't know why until the next episode. Hmmm, am I suppose to go back now and watch the emotional reaction again now that I get it? Oh well.
  35. i'm planning on a special modification with a label maker.
  36. everything done as much as possible till the transformers get here.
  37. I ordered a Fellow Ode for pour-over. I’m dialing in my hand grinders for espresso only (different grinders for different roast profiles even: I guess that isn’t normal, but I have a bunch of high end hand grinders!), so I’ve been having to use my old Bodum Bistro for drip coffee, and while it works okay, it’s kinda… tired. Orphan OG is my main espresso grinder for sure. The grounds it makes are just amazing. You wouldn’t have known the shot I pulled this morning was from an old consumer 51mm Breville. 16.5 in, 40 out in 28 seconds. Washed Ethiopian roasted two weeks ago by my favorite local. Bright, but rich. Great texture. Perfect patterning on the Crema. Zero channeling. I guess there is something to be said about having a machine you know really well, even if it’s no great shakes.
  38. October is being rather un-Octoberish. It was 70 and sunny today, so I took advantage. Bike is in mullet mode for now after catching a stick last weekened and snapping six spokes in the primary rear wheel. Definitely handles a little weird with the 27.5 on the back and 29 on the front but was better than nothing for sure.
  39. more parts stuffage the wire used to hook up the power led inside the switch is pure silver wire from the US military in 1965. the rest of the wiring will be silver plated copper teflon.
