OMG that is a terrible run of misfortune. Fortunately you made it out mostly unscathed. On a positive note you are all set for beatnik poetry night. Just need to find your beret. I’ve read multiple times about the Incra cause of Saw Stops to trigger. Clamp rack looks great!4 points

Certainly a bad run of luck Al. Graham, it's good to see you posting. I was worried when I went into Fairfax Scoop, because they said they hadn't seen you in three days.3 points

Here are a few of my projects modified a rigid floor inflatable boat to mount a helm. It’s a bit wobbly - as I just used a square hole washer with teeth and a bit of epoxy. I probably need to run a stringer underneath perpendicular to the two legs and tap a hole there. The issue is I can’t access underneath once the floor is in. So here I had to pull up on the carriage bolts as I tightened them. I also affixed a custom boat registration plate and affixed this Scotty holder to mount the solar powered throttle, wireless. That adhesive is pretty foul stuff, definitely get a nice contact high using it.2 points

Remember how I said I'm not playing Valheim? I'm playing Valheim. Yeah, it's good.2 points

More Pat Martino. A pretty rare live recording before he suffered the stroke and consequent memory loss. Such a great musician2 points

I made some clamp hangers and I'm OK with the aesthetics. This week has been weird and potentially dangerous on and off. On Wednesday, I was getting ready for the electrician to finish work in the new shop and he suggested that I could remove peg board from the back wall and drill the studs to run wire for the new outlets. I cut out pieces of the peg board and started drilling the stud closest to the corner with a spade bit. Arcy sparky popping circuit, I drilled right through the romex stapled to the back side of the stud. I didn't die. That same afternoon, I was going to make those clamp hangers and decided I would use a fancy Incra miter sled I have. The Sawstop miter track is in a different spot so I had to cut the sled on the saw and moved the metal fence way back away from the blade because it shouldn't get cut but also because the Sawstop safety feature triggers with metal as well as flesh. Long story short, I moved the fence back to near zero and went to cut the first board. It seemed like the the blade was still cutting the sled slightly so I looked closely at the fence and blade and it seemed OK until the mechanism fired and the blade disappeared. Fuck me. I got through yesterday without major mishap, and today I wanted to try clearing out outdoor drain before the next atmospheric river hits on Monday. I was using our new Ridgid Powered Drain Cleaner for the second time. The drain is very low and I had to learn over into the drain while feeding the snake, which is operated by a foot pedal. Long story short, my beard got caught in the cable snake spiral and it ripped out a big chunk before I could turn it off. That was quite freaky, and after cleaning up I couldn't quite take shaving for the first time in years. I didn't like the halfway look of disgruntled mayor of Whoville, so I have ended the day with a bit of Marshall Matt Dillon. The drain is clear, now that I got a tennis ball and lots of rocks and leaves out.2 points

Listening to the new Emma Ruth Rundle, Engine of Hell -- unlike anything she's ever done before. Beautiful acoustic slowcore, very minimalist, raw production.2 points

That was a serious run of freaky bad luck. Hopefully, it means you should have a nice long run of clear sailing.1 point

I bought mine in 2007 or 2008, I don't remember, but I also didn't port mod it. So that might have helped fix the issues too. I did port mod my current 007A and yes, it makes a huge difference.1 point

There was a transition at some point in probably 2009 (though it could be earlier) that I noticed with the sets at Canjam '10. The midrange had this etch to it which nothing I could do to alleviate. The first sets of the Mk2 did not have that and when I finally bought another set of Mk2's in 2014 (or '13... can't remember) it was gone.1 point

Bloody hell Al. Could have ended much worse with that drain cleaner. Kind of glad that mine is manual (the worst that has had to deal with is cooking fat blockage) I really like the clamp rack. Darned sight tidier than mine.1 point

I had an early 007 Mk2 from that batch and I thought the midrange on it had some of the same issues that plagued the SR-404 and other Lambdas from that series. But I wonder if that's fixable with EQ. The L700 responds really well to EQ in the mids. But, I sold it and then got the Mk1.1 point

Good morning, @audiostar can I share a BOM? Absolutely!! However I do want to actually build and test one of the boards to see if all is good before I post further documentation. I would hate to see someone putting in a lot of effort and money for nothing just because I messed up. After successful testing I will upload the whole lot, including gerbers. I do have all the components already here, but the pcbs got held up in customs for over a week - ah well, I have to be patient! Cheerio, Alex.1 point

I should have just left everything to rust, every project I tried to finish today was either thwarted by wrong parts or lack of skills so nothing accomplished. I tend to get drawer sides from OWL hardwoods with the bottom 1/4 dado already done and I just add the locking rabbets. I went to build some tonight and I found the whole set had bottom slots of .338 inches. Not sure if they screwed up or it is intended for some weird plywood of which I am not aware. Built the larger drawers for the lower half of the drill press cart and did not have the spacing right on the Saw Stop so ended up with tight fit that I still tried to jam in, breaking one of my dados. I really wish the Saw Stop fence on my shitty model would just lock down where you want it, but instead it shifts quite a bit as part of the locking process leaving spacing a bit off. Did manage to get a drill press table built, but only have my cheap Jet to mount it on as the Nova seems to be back ordered, even though Grizzly showed it in stock.1 point

Robert Caro - The Path to Power What can I say? Best book on politics I've ever read. Maybe best book on history I've ever read. There are certain books that I know if I see them on someone's shelf that we will get along instantly. Caro is a national treasure. This is so well written and so meticulously researched. It is a 1,000 page monster but it goes down smooth because the history, cast of characters, setting and Caro's prose are so compelling. The first book is less a strict biography of LBJ but more a history and study of America in the beginning of the 20th century with LBJ as a the central character. Texas politics, the Hill Country, the Great Depression and the New Deal all are described so brilliantly. I hope to finish the other 3 volumes this year. There is a chapter in the book about the daily hardships of rural America pre-electrification that is just an absolute knockout and can be read on its own as a great piece of non-fiction.1 point

Sorry for the rough run of luck, Al, but wanted to let you know that I haven't had a biscuit in weeks; was trying to do my part to keep you safe. Seems like it wasn't enough... G'luck with the beret hunt.0 points
