June 21, 201115 yr tried emailing gunter at steinhart twice now. no response. someone on watchuseek said they were having trouble with their mail servers but the thread isnt even there anymore. anyone have contact with them recently?
June 27, 201115 yr The Stowa just arrived. I have a brown leather band that came with it in addition to the zulu on it in the pic: Now the question is do I keep the Stowa and the Damasko or sell one.
June 27, 201115 yr Day date makes me lean towards the latter. Overall dial looks cleaner too. Nice watches.
June 27, 201115 yr The Stowa is more historically accurate (sterile dial, one of the original 5 during WWII) if you're into that aspect. But the Damasko is a nice update to the classic flieger design. Either watch is a winner.
June 27, 201115 yr I like the "real bond" Zulu in first pic. Just picked up a grey/black bond zulu myself.
June 27, 201115 yr Both are beauties, Mike, but I favor #1 - cleaner, more historically accurate, and will look great with the brown leather.
June 27, 201115 yr Day date makes me lean towards the latter. Overall dial looks cleaner too. Nice watches. Both beautiful, but latter wins. What they said.
June 28, 201115 yr I agree with Gene, go with the Stowa. If you can't remember the day and date then you would probably forget to look at your watch anyway.
June 28, 201115 yr Thanks guys. The Stowa is the classic flieger and has crazy good lume. Close to an Omega P.O. which has some of the best lume out there. I may hold onto both for a while and see which grows on me. I've been looking for the Stowa for a while. Due to a lack of movements Stowa will not ship any until late August. They rarely come up used, in particular with no logo/no date. The Damasko has one of the best cases out there but is not nearly as difficult to find used or new. I also love the blued hands and display back on the Stowa.
June 28, 201115 yr Author I may hold onto both for a while and see which grows on me.Probably a good idea.
June 28, 201115 yr I agree with Gene, go with the Stowa. If you can't remember the day and date then you would probably forget to look at your watch anyway. I remember biology definitions verbatim from 8th grade and can tell you which ion was where on the page in my Chemistry book and what the valency was and an innumerable number of useless things BUT I can't remember what day or date it is. Hell I can't even remember my poker hand for just a single round of betting. No joke. I've been wearing a watch for as long as I can remember and use it a lot any given day.
June 28, 201115 yr I thought that getting the time, day and date is what a cell phone is for. To get the day and date on my phone i have to make some sliding gesture and touch the calendar icon ... easier to flick the wrist and look at it
June 28, 201115 yr I forget a lot of things but typically it's not the day/date. I'm holding both for the moment. Now I'm waiting for the new Ocean7 LM-4 V2 ceramic case to be released. Wrist shot brown strap:
June 28, 201115 yr Damn, I'm not a watch guy, but if you decide to let the Stowa go, please let me know. I still say keep it though.
June 28, 201115 yr My only real complaint with this watch is it's only 30M rated, so I can't wear it in the pool
June 28, 201115 yr I like the one with the brown leather, Mike, fwiw. Like Jim, if you keep the Stowa but want to sell this one let me know.
