Fine writer. Read every one of his Culture novels and about 75% of his "serious" fiction. A great loss. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2013/jun/09/iain-banks-dies-59-cancer

Hi Guys, I figured I would post this to my friends here at HC. I certainly support the cause as a Type 1 Diabetic and I do not believe I will have any trouble meeting my numbers but any support for the cause means a lot to me. One of my favorite radio personalities. He will be missed. RIP Gene. "If someone was homeless, he would treat them with the same amount of respect as he would the president of the United States," said Pat Thurston, a KGO show host and friend of Mr. Burns'.

Five of the most awesome car stunts - ever! Vid #5 - If you have the patience to sit through it, drifting through the streets of San Francisco Ken Block flies his Ford Focus through the air sideways through a curve, lands it and continues on like he never left the ground. Never seen that before! Sorry for the small spoiler, but along with the rest of his stunts it's a "gotta see moment". As many of you saw, Jeff had signed up for a TdC in Virginia, as it's a cause near and dear to him. It just so happens we're having a ride in Chattanooga on May 18th, and with Jeff and other friends in mind, I was one of the first people to sign up for this one. I plan on training to do the 40 mile ride, which I think is doable in the 3-4 weeks I have, and having a good cause is worth me pushing a bit further, a bit longer than I normally do. http://main.diabetes.org/goto/BrentLawson My goals aren't quite as lofty as Jeff's, but I'm hoping to raise $500 over the weeks leading up to the ride. My work is sponsoring the event, and we have a nice little team so f…

I am in need of some hotel assistance with the Chicago area HC crew. My daughter and three of her classmates from Notre Dame plan to spend the Thursday through Saturday of Easter break visiting and sight seeing around Chicago. None of the girls are from the area so they have no clue where to stay that is centrally located to fun activities and reasonably priced. I was thinking somewhere along the Magnificent Mile, Whacker, Loop, Michigan avenue area. Am I searching in the right area or can you suggest something better? None of the girls drink so proximity to bars is a negative, fun restaurants and fun activities are. If you can recommend areas we should focus on when…

  20. Hi all --- Our magazine is actually doing a story on Bitcoin. I have read 3 stories so far, trying to comprehend them. Thought I did understand it as a "token-like" currency, but was then told they are not tokens. You get more of them by "mining them" .... ? Who runs the "mine" so to speak ? I figured you cutting edge types that transact with China may actually have used these. Could you explain to muggles what it really is, if its is not a token-type "currency" that you buy ? baffled. I read the Bloomberg, the Economist and Wired recent stories on it. Thxxx

A month ago I visited with a new doctor. Went in for a sore arm but he saw fit to comment on my weight, ordered blood work and wanted to prescribe medication to control my blood pressure and reduce my cholesterol. Had my usual fight to find out and discuss my other options. WE finally agreed that I would reduce my weight and come back in July for a complete physical and discuss further at that time. At 300# I have a bit of tail I can stand to lose. Sadly, I've not had much trouble losing weight, but I've found it damn near impossible to keep it off. I went home and went into research mode. Came across a diet spawned from a study by the NIH (National Institute of…
