January 8, 201412 yr Maybe just a plain old space heater. If you're worried about fires, the oil filled radiators with safety circuits are pretty safe (I think). We have one and have had good luck with it. It heats more slowly, but is good at maintaining a temperature, and I think are safer than the ones that glow red hot. http://www.amazon.com/DeLonghi-EW7707CM-Safeheat-ComforTemp-Oil-Filled/dp/B000TGDGLU/ref=pd_sbs_hg_1
January 8, 201412 yr our furnace quit working sometime last night, and our HVAC guy is apparently busy, so hasn't called back. I'm going to head home in 30 minutes so I can figure it out.
January 8, 201412 yr Yeezh, man, at least it waited a day. But still, sympathies, it's in the 20's here.
January 8, 201412 yr I hope it's easily fixed, Dan. Today is the last cold day, at -21 C. Tomorrow starts a week of forecast highs in the minus single digits!
January 9, 201412 yr Alien Eggs from a Cold-Weather Planet. The invasion has begun.....time to break out the giant robots.
January 9, 201412 yr It's pretty amazing that nature can produce something that would make you question whether or not it was natural like that. Makes Dusty happy. Of course, now I want Swedish meatballs or equivalent. Amazeballs! Literally.
January 19, 201412 yr Nice, Jacob. Here's to no ome slips, trips or falls. We got about 6" of very heavy, wet snow yesterday and it's snowing lightly again now. It looks pretty but I'm guessing it'll be a good sized pain in my ass later today.
January 20, 201412 yr Author We were away this weekend and got home today to find several inches of nice, wet snow. Along with ~2 ft of ice/snow wall the town plows left in front of the driveway. Now I hear there's few more inches coming Tuesday night to Wednesday morning.
January 20, 201412 yr Along with ~2 ft of ice/snow wall the town plows left in front of the driveway. What is it with this? This is universal! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
January 20, 201412 yr Author ^ The first 3 winters here (this is our 6th winter here), whoever the town had hired to do our street always did a fantastic job of not leaving us with ice/snow wall in front of our driveway. In fact, if they saw us shoveling, they would often plow the snow out of the bottom ⅓ of our driveway.
January 21, 201412 yr Yeah, my old housemate had that sort of relationship with our plowdrivers, too...but you had to bribe them. Which I had no problem doing. But it was kind of extortion, because if you didn't bribe them, you were pretty much guaranteed. And it seemed like they'd wait until I was done first. Or maybe it just took them that long to get to our neighborhood.
