Looking to get a 32" LCD hdtv for the bedroom, I haven't really paid much attention to the lcd market at all lately so I'd like to get some recommendations. So far these two look pretty promising: samsung LN32A450 toshiba 32rv530u any comments on either of those or other suggestions?

I want to find a cd burner program that will burn full 16 bit audio/ data discs. The programs on my last two computers will only do up to 192kbps. Anyone know of a good basic cd burner program that will make both 16 bit music compilation discs or burn exact copies of 16 bit cd's I already have? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I know that java-fi will probably have my head, but I need a good auto coffee maker for the morning. Yes, I have a French press, but I just don't have the time in the morning most days. So, here's what I need: a reliable coffee maker with a timer that makes good joe. Flavor over looks and not too expensive. Help me.

I was in a camera and photography-gear shop recently and noticed that they sold vacuum boxes. Apparently many photographers use the boxes to store their camera bodies and lenses. I bought one to try out. Repeatedly pulling a handle pumps air out of the container. I think it's useful to store electrostatic headphones and other gear sensitive to dust and humidity.

I'll bet this is yet another thing a lot of us obsess about. The iPad thread has me considering several different murses. But now I also think I need a new briefcase. I have an old school leather Coach briefcase, which is nice, but heavy and somewhat impractical for my gadget-y self. I'm thinking about this: Zephyr: TOM BIHN Thoughts? Criticisms? Useless drivel?

I realized that I have a ton of portable equipment that has a lithium battery in it and that has been sitting unused for years (long before Tim passed away): Pico, Pico Slim, cell phones, cameras. How dangerous is it to charge up a battery that has been sitting around discharged for a long time (evidently you are not supposed to do this ever)? I know that lithium batteries are not as likely to leak as alkaline batteries but can be really bad if they go. What should I do with this stuff? The cell phones I can recycle but I am not sure what to do with the Pico and Pico Slim. I was going to sell them or give them away since I never use them but now I am worried a…

Love that I'm just noticing this today lol. Seriously need to consider cutting the cord, what are some of the more popular options out there? The kids for sure can survive purely on Netflix, and the wife and I just need enough TV for a few shows and major sports.

I currently have the Motorola H700. It is truly a piece of shit. I need to get a new headset, as I tend to be on a lot of calls during my commute. The #1 requirement is sound quality on my end and the listener's end. #2 is that it needs to be comfortable. Otherwise it doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles. I've read some decent things about the Jawbone 2, but it is expensive with some drawbacks, but if the sound and comfort are far superior to anything else then so be it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm in the market for a gps nav device, I'd like it to be voice activated and be simple to update w/ new maps as necessary. The only two brands I'm really familiar with are garmin and tom-tom, what else should I be looking at?

My nice new office is horribly located, meaning the door right is near a hallway speaker, which pumps out gawd awful "soft" jazz 24/7. I can see only two survival options: A) Kill everyone Drown out the music I cannot use my computer for music, nor can I have computer speakers. Headphones are only an option for limited times during the day, so I'm thinking to get one of those smallish all-in-one ipod speaker dealios, but I have zero idea what's out there that may sound good. I've checked out two Apple stores (used to have setups and now don't seem to) a Best Buy (couldn't really hear anything with all the damn tvs going). I had one of those Bose ones years ag…

Anyone have any experience here? Kinda tempted by the 3M MPro 100 (which appears to be running $300). With VGA and composite could be good for laptop/iPhone/Touch use.

Ran across this blurb: http://www.audiophilia.com/wp/?p=2544 Obviously, the list of audio and music-related sites can go on and on, but some of these places look like they're worth checking out (especially those that are suggested by a couple of the people who responded). Of course, if you bookmark too many of them, you're bound to get hooked one or two... or three...

Did anyone order any music from Grooves Inc: http://grooves-inc.com? I ordered a CD that no one else seems to have but they had in stock, and now I am being quoted "The order will be ready for dispatch in about 20-22 working days." This makes me worried, if they had it in stock why does it take them 20 day to dispatch it.

I bought a SB Solo for my daughter to access her home dvr and tv. My router is in a different room from the dvr/tv. Slingmedia sells a device for $80. Are there any that anyone recommends that I can buy locally in an Office Depot, etc. Also, does anyone think there will be a problem using it with my Apple Time Capsule which is a wireless router.

Hello. I'm new to this forum & wanted to say hi. Well, as the title of the thread asks, does anyone know of any good audiophile stores in the Philippines (Manila specifically)? I will be going there next week, so I thought I might have the opportunity to check out some cool gear while I'm there - stuff that might not be released in the US or stuff that I could find at a really good price. Any suggestions or pointers would be great! Thanks in advance!

I think a few people heard this at CanJam last year? Anyway, it's now shipping. Obviously the focus is home theater, but I wonder if it can be applied to "simulate" out-of-head stereo listening? EDIT: I just RTFA more closely, and it can indeed do stereo.

Sigh... It's not like Time Warner was a beacon of excellence. But when Spectrum took over, many things have gotten even worse. In no particular order: Monthly bill went up through various reasons including higher prices for newly "developed" bundles/packages. Spectrum got rid of the best mbps per dollar plan and offer either slow or "fast" plans, not the middle one Timer Warner had. My Spectrum cable box keeps stop working randomly, displaying messages like "To receive this channel, call customer care." When called, customer care has no clue, does not speak English, and I have to go through the algorithm hell multiple times until I waste my time to sc…

As posted in another thread, the coverage offered by AT&T in Manhattan (especially lower Manhattan) is laughable. My iPhone will continue to suffice for personal email and stupid apps, but now I need something that will actually work as a phone. I was considering a blackberry, as I have grown accustomed to them and find them excellent. However, I don't really want to pay for the data plan, and I won't have corporate support for email, so that seems to be a waste. So I'm thinking that I need one of them smart phones? I'd like something that is a solid phone, and ideally with a keyboard so I can text without learning to type on a numeric keypad like a teenage g…

Hey! So, I'm looking for a portable player of sorts to placate the babies on the way to China. Requirements are long battery life, or the ability to take AA or another battery pack, and pretty much kid proof. Doesn't have to play DVDs directly, if the ripping process is pretty smooth. I prefer the tablet style. Seems like there aren't many options out there... so, I figured I'd ask around.

I'm getting some weird grounding issues with my system. Any static discharge on my headphones/DAC/amp/computer (which is connected to the DAC via a USB converter) often causes my music to skip momentarily. Even ESD through my desk does it sometimes (and my desk is not electrically connected to my audio setup). One time, a particularly strong discharge caused my USB converter device to be unusable until a reboot. Anyone have suggestions on what to do? My apartment's flooring is all wood.

Hi, After lurking here for a while and giving up on the advice at another forum, I thought I would try asking about a problem that has been bothering me for some time. I am having substantial problems with my cell phone pings being picked up by the headphone cable. I am running a nuforce HDP and HD650s in case someone else has experience with the same problem and setup. So I see a few options: 1) Shielded headphone cables. (Although the price scares me vs option 6) 2) Craft a EMI blocking filter (Perhaps with an inline Neutrix EMC series XLR pair or equivalent), or maybe a ferrite core? 3) A magical audiophile solution I am not aware of. Preferabl…
