It's a shame that so often the response is some unobtainium pair of cans that are not only are pricey but would prove difficult to service should a problem arise. Not going down that path anymore. I'll stick with very good at the risk of missing out on someone else's nirvana. 007A's out of a Carbon, HD650's out of a Headamp GS-1 dynalo+, and my TH900's out of a Woo WA7 w/ some upgraded tubes all fed by an Ygg. Nothing crazy but each one makes me smile and 99% is good enough. Must be strong... I'll save the self-flagellation for my race car...LOL HS3 points

Saw Mary Fahl at a nearby church last night. Incredible show, last time I saw her was 22 years ago when she was with the group October Project. Such a powerful, emotional, unique voice. She sang many of her own or October Project compositions, but she also did a wonderful version of Both Sides Now, an Italian aria, Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific, and La Vie En Rose. An amazing show, and she told wonderful stories alongside. Got a nice chat and pic after the show.2 points

I would say the Qualia, R10, and properly amp HD800 and hopefully the Utopia. I wish I can audition the Utopia locally here in GA. In most rig, the HD800 just sound a bit too thin next to the Elear and most people will easily pick the Elear. I was lucky enough to own Doug's DSHA-0 and this amp really a perfect match to the HD800...help to propel it over the Elear for me.2 points

Saw Crystal Castles tonight. Fucking amazing, best electronic show I've been to. Edith was great, you can tell the differences in style compared to Alice a lot better in person. She's more dissonant, quieter, but still uber confident.2 points

Hey, thanks everyone. I appreciate it. My birthday was a fun day, mildly so anyway. Nothing too exciting but I got to hang out with some friends in Miami for part of the day, and then some other friends in Tampa later in the evening after driving back across Alligator Alley. Flew back to Cayman today to get ready for teaching this Fall quarter. Life is good. I've got no complaints!2 points

Wanted a new guitar my Ibanez late 80s rg570 (had it 20 years) wasn't doing it for me. Picked up a PRS S2 Singlecut hollow body. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I think it would be cool to actually remove the amplifier circuit from the board and make it modular - plug-in boards for the amplifier section and maybe even the PSU. Would there be interest in something like this down the road?1 point

Zach, if it feels too big, I get it, but it really doesn't look too big. Certainly not out of place or gaingly. It's a great looking watch IMO.1 point

Got the new Circlotron V2 output boards. Looks great! One question. The new pots on there are to directly adjust the current right? But the old ones had those connectors that I think went to the opto servo on the current source boards? So does something need to be jumpered or no longer populated on the amp boards? I don't have the schematic in front of me to see if that circuit is separate from everything else.1 point

It was last night, but I had a Century Burger at Belcampo: a 100-day dry aged steak burger with a half-inch slab of raclette cheese, whole-grain mustard aioli, caramelized onions, arugula, and a spritz of 100-proof whisky on a sesame-seed brioche bun. And beef tallow fries on the side. Pretty damn good, though $28 is steep for a burger.1 point

Time for my annual Monterey Jazz report and this year was a good one. On the main (Arena) stage Friday night, a tribute to Quincy Jones. One of the great things about Monterey is the way artists join together for special sets. This was one of those. Quincy was introduced by Clint Eastwood (a regular here) and the band was led by Christian McBride. John Clayton conducted a jazz orchestra plus many featured players. Richard Bona (bass), Dave Crusin (keys), Lewis Nash (drums), Hubert Laws (flute), Alfredo Rodrigues (piano), Valerie Simpson (of Ashford and Simpson fame vocals) and the list could go on and on. Amazing set with tunes from Quincy's various albums. Saturday night Terri Lyne Carrington's Mosaic Project featured Lizz Wright and Valerie Simpson in a finesse vs elemental force duet that was awesome. Carrington's band has a horn player, Ingrid Jensen that was killing. Jensen made another appearance with Branford Marsalis Quartet with Kurt Elling. Another awesome set to finish the night. Sunday included a wonderful commissioned work by Wayne Shorter Quartet with a wind ensemble. There were other fantastic Arena acts like Pat Metheny, Celcle McLorin Savant and The Bad Plus Joshua Redmond but what really put this year ahead of many were the artists on the other stages. Bill Frizell, Christian McBrides Trio, Stanley Cowell, young Joey Alexander's Trio, John Patitucci's Electric Guitar Quartet, Dr Lonnie Smith, Still Dreaming with Joshua Redmond and Brian Blade plus the last band I saw, Joshua Redmond's original Quartet who played stuff from his early days and even a slow, lush version of Stella by Starlight. Really a memorable year!1 point

Thanks! There is something special about a GS that you can't really understand until you've handled one. I was pretty pleased with my old Sinn 103 st, even after trying out several blancpains, omegas, rolexes and panerias at different watch GTGs, but this GS is just in a different league from everything else i have ever handled. The overall finish and sense of quality is just unbelievably high! At first i was kind of worried about walking around with something so valuable, but it's been stuck to my wrist since i've bought it, and its not coming off any time soon. the poor sinn has been laying in the drawer for weeks now...1 point

i was saving up some money to buy a new dynamic headphone amp, as i've been without one after my old head-direct hf5 died on me, but then this beauty showed up, and all my plans were thrown out the window. guess i'll have to survive using my floats off my stereo amp a few more years. i didn't want to go all the way to the attic and look for my ortho-collection anyway.1 point

Quick update for those interested in PriceJapan.com - site is no longer displaying any content. This at least means that no more folks can be purchasing goods that never materialize, so perhaps that is a good thing. EDIT - just launched a dispute with PayPal - then noticed the 6 month time limit. I placed my order on 24th April, and had until 24th October to launch a dispute. Good thing I didn't wait any longer. For anyone else left hanging by PriceJapan.com, I suggest raising a dispute with PayPal or your whatever facility you used for payment asap. Doesn't look like these guys are coming back anytime soon.1 point

I've just "attended" the season opening of the Berliner Philharmoniker online, performing some quite prescindible Boulez and Mahler's 7th. This is the second season I'm getting the ticket, they're offering a 10% discount until the end of the day https://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/news1 point

I bought kd lang - Angel With a Lariat, back in '85. I have been a huge fan since then. No one should feel bad about being upstaged by Miss Lang IMO. Pipes like that just don't come along that often. I also dig her chutzpah...Nashville gives her shit about her sexuality. Does she pout and whine? No, she puts out Ingenue, a jazz album that eclipses even her Owen Bradley produced Shadowland (still a favorite of mine).1 point
