Clearly you've never raced against Grahame, who is easily the most ruthless out of all of us. He will ram you off the track on the first turn without hesitation and continue on unapologetic and unaware of the mayhem caused. Meanwhile I'm a nicer breed of asshole, and when I ruin someones lap it was deliberate, calculated, I don't deny it, and it was Brent who I hit.4 points

I did something really good today. Actually me and my father. We have been feeding 20-25 street cats for 2 years. And for winter is coming we started to build a shelter for street cats. It has 10 room. We'll add more room/shelter later. Here are some pictures: If you have any suggestions for improvement, i gladly listen them. It is beneath the bubble wrap, which we are going to use for isolation. And we'll add fences around it so nothing can bother cats while they are sleeping/eating. And we'll add a roof made from rigid plastic for rain. Btw it is still useable as it is. Cats crawl under bubble wrap. I'll post finished pictures too.4 points

I'm with you Dusty, if I had to choose between a good biscuit and good cornbread, it is cornbread every time.4 points

I like to take it a step further and make my own dampening material. I start by collecting roadkill. About 12 squirrels, two skunks or one large raccoon will work well. Skin the roadkill and boil down the carcasses slowly for about 10 hours. remove any large particles, and strain the remaining liquid. Further reduce your dampening juice for another 2 - 3 hours at a low flame. Add one packet of Knox gelatin mix, then allow to cool overnight. Done. Slice your dampening gel as needed and apply to your favorite headphones. They'll sound so good that you'll want to listen all day, but they'll smell so bad that you won't.3 points

Yes my good sir, and we serve hot water more frequently in winter too! After they eat, some of them come to my lap and start to purr. That's something you can't buy with money. I pay less than yoga course per month and certainly get more relaxed.2 points

Every 6 hours? My own cat just got jealous. She wakes me up sometimes because her water bowl is empty and can't wait until I get up.2 points

Carpet, or towels, or anything like that will absorb water, remain wet and cold, and mold. Straw is better, and cheaper.2 points
-
That's fantastic! You might want to add some small stands to get the base off the ground a little, and perhaps add some straw for warmth. But this looks like it will make the cats a lot more comfortable.2 points

Clearly Grado, Audioquest and B&W are the stalwarts of good headphone sound, and Stax with no sorbothane sounds like a hippo farting through a wet rag. This is the guy who said doing the port mod on the SR007 increases the bass.... and I just found this gem: Instead of using a headband, just hold the earcups next to your head! Best mod ever, but it will make changing volume difficult.2 points

Sorry, where does that sit on the map compared to the "Live Music Capital of the World"? Like 922 miles away? so, still out in the sticks?2 points

not going to happen! First you have to pay jim what he paid for the thing, something like $5k (certainly in the range of $4500 to $6500) then the $800 in parts I threw into it. And then say an additional $2k in labor. plus shipping the beast. and with it you get a bag of removed parts, wirenest and dead Russian sockets, trashed digital attenuator boards, fried voltmeter and buttons, various burned up resistors and shorted and stupidly expensive coupling caps (audio note silver) yes I kept all of that, its in a shopping bag. The second one birgir ended up with, had even more stupid in it. And all that is just the amplifier box. The power supply box was also a work of art. 350V caps running at about 475 volts. And no bleeder resistors But wait there is more. How about the SS1. I have that too. complete rebuild job. pay elphas (I think it was him) $14k, then $1500 in parts, and about $1k in labor... full of holes where STUPID used to be. Gone are the "FUN" knobs, and something we believe was the bias knob2 points

I <3 this thing you are doing. Very impressed that they're already beginning to use it.1 point

Apparently there's no cure for tinnitus, so me mentioning as to whether sorbothane would stop tinnitus was me trying to be sarcastic seeing how edstrelow has been posting more than enough about how amazing it is on HF. Never thought he'd start posting about it here on HC though.1 point
-
Very cool idea! I've seen some pet shops using what looks like shredded newspaper for bedding. You might want to ask someplace like an animal shelter what they suggest.1 point
-
Actually sir, sorry i forgot to add, we bought carpet for internal Thank you for suggestion. But ground is dirt, so we have to find stands which withstand against dirt. We are using pavingstone for now. I'm really happy cuz they already started to use it1 point

Wow headphones without a headband...that is pure genius or utter delusion.1 point

Colin says Brent's biscuits aren't as tasty as he'd have you believe.1 point

Good thing Mikhail didn't know Edstrelow, or it would have been stuffed with sorbathane to smooth out the mistakes.1 point

One could say that the legs of BJT is shifted one step to the right. So I just bent the legs accordingly and put a pin header in the left hole and then mount the transistor with desired torque . As I do it the pin header is hold in place by the crossed leg. Solder and it’s done. Few pictures below. Hope they show how I did it. I've modified one T2 and one Blue Hawaii this way. And it works fine.1 point

hard to argue with that! I think I know what I'll be making tomorrow (sans the bacon grease).1 point

As someone who loves cornbread, you saying that says you've never had a good biscuit.1 point
-
Might as well be -- good corn bread >> good biscuit. EDIT: Actually, I should probably ask first -- can Brent have any? No? Then it's a biscuit.1 point

I keep coming back to this recording, nice reference recording in many ways and an odd performance in other ways. Before that, just the comment that if you like the music style, L'oiseau-Lyre has just some fantastically quiet vinyl, with tons of dynamics1 point

Saw Crystal Castles tonight. Fucking amazing, best electronic show I've been to. Edith was great, you can tell the differences in style compared to Alice a lot better in person. She's more dissonant, quieter, but still uber confident.1 point

The whole patent paper reminds me of the big American audio companies in the 90's re-badging cheap players from Japan then claiming and marketing as if they made the whole thing from scratch, Wadia, Audio Alchemy etc. The patent system is a clusterfuck anyway, the whole Apple vs Samsung patent wars years ago shows exactly that and the patent system is nothing but a bogus broken framework.1 point

Hoş geldiniz, Sechtdamon. Do you have a link to the patent filing?1 point

They claim it took 3 years just to design the cable when it appears to be just a ribbon wound up in a circular shape. I guess Shure don't excel at project management...1 point
-
The price is retarded and having Jude try and shill them is just sad. Well not for Jude as we all know he's a cunt but rather for Shure as they might have something good here. The amp has to be better than the POS KingSound are calling a portable amplifier... I do feel the sudden urge to make a super tiny KGSSHV and throw some batteries and a couple of DC to DC converters on it.1 point
