Had my last Dr. visit for my finger. As it turns out, I had the story wrong. It seems my finger did indeed contact the saw blade, as my co-worker told me he found tissue on the blade. The other surprise is that the tissue under where the fingernail was has hardened. It is turning into a fingernail. Having lost one before, I know that's what happens, and the deformed nail, then grows out and usually flattens into a more normal looking nail. Pretty amazing how fast the finger is healing, and I'm very happy with the results. Much better than I expected.8 points

Went a couple of rounds of cat wrestling. Cyrano won the first round but I won the match. He ended up in his cat carrier and had to go to the vet.5 points

He's a fuckhead, and his core constituency is other fuckheads. He really has very little incentive to moderate the rhetoric that got him elected, since the more extreme he is the more they like it.3 points

As compared with the original gruesome pics you posted Steve, that looks absolutely fantastic!2 points

I was filled with nostalgia and googled fuglyphones... found an epic pic of the two fugliest headphones in existence, together in the same shot! Amazing. And surprisingly it isn't even Duggeh. Third ugliest goes to the Abyss so maybe the above guy could consider getting one if he doesn't mind spending $5000 on a half-finished piece of junk: And number four: Original Jecklin Floats don't even break top 5 ugliest anymore, amazing how fast technology moves!2 points

Yup, the ESS phones definitely raised a "hmmm this could be cool" flag for me. And right on about wualta, he was the man. Hope he's ok. But then it's not just the ortho thread, it was HF as a whole. HF's sad evolution is pretty typical for a successful board that doesn't quite manage its transition into success right. The board becomes the place to be, all the techies and kids that want to be cool join up, and sooner or later the old farts look around and say "wait a minute, who are all these people and what are they talking about" and then they leave, helped along by management that values sponsorship over content. When you find a good community, value it while it lasts, because it won't. Bummer about those Sigmas...2 points

Thanks for joining Head-Case. I'm glad you're here. That said, you should be aware that this isn't your typical internet forum. We're not here so that you'll have another place to sell your stuff. We're not looking for people trying to pad their post counts, or demonstrate their ability to find witty things on the internet. If you've come here looking for advice on which headphones to buy, perhaps you should check out http://www.innerfidelity.com. Tyll Hertsens, founder of Head-Room and long time community giant is the proprietor there, and does everything he can to ensure that accurate information is disseminated about headphones at every level. This is predominantly a place for friends to discuss music, audio gear, and whatever else tickles our fancy. We are sometimes quite rude, often irreverant, and regularly abusive. Think of it like the corner bar where everyone knows each other. Don't mistake our familiarity with each other as familiarity with you, even if you've seen our names in other locations before. Spend some time reading before you start to post. Get familiar with what is going on, and who the various people are. Don't just jump right into the fray. This is your only warning, but I hope you can participate. There's a lot of good information, and more importantly, good people here.1 point

IMO it's all related to the dumbing down of America. And it's no accident. Our schools do not educate anymore. They teach children to achieve good tests scores. Uneducated people don't make educated choices. Uneducated masses can be easily swayed through doom and gloom tactics. Throw in a good old fashioned propaganda campaign orchestrated by Putin, as the cherry on top, and you have a successful Presidential campaign. An uneducated population also make good consumers. Yes, this is an oversimplified view, but the way many in this Country rallied around a Vice Presidential candidate that was as dumb as a rock, was a very telling look into the future of the Republican Party (yes, I'm talking about you Sarah).1 point

No, that was entirely guesswork. Someone posted elsewhere -- if you want change, you don't put rat poison in your coffee.1 point

This is what worries me. If he got in on the rhetoric, but also brought in qualified staff that didn't necessarily support these views, I wouldn't worry so much. But, he's brought in people who have their agendas, and many of them revolve around making a profit, or extending their own extreme agendas, out of his term as president. And he doesn't seem to care.1 point

So it is basically all Larry Summers' fault. I actually think the Frontline analysis is wishful thinking and that Stretch's view is, sadly, closer to the truth. I think it is a race, gender, sexual orientation, and religious backlash. https://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/600/will-i-know-anyone-at-this-party1 point

Leadership is an onerous position not to be taken lightly. (Listening to Trump's inauguration as I type). Actually, the Taket is a very comfortable and light clamping headphone. Those dudes can't believe how comfortable and counter-intuitive the actual performance is compared to it's visual presentation....1 point

You may get more luck out of Electromods UK than Yama's. Yama's are pretty much tightarses with Stax parts and most of the time will say nada or direct you to contact the Stax distributor in your country. Electromods are a better bunch to deal with as I've ordered some one off Stax parts they had laying around no other distributors I contacted had.1 point

Most would, but again, consider the $$$ tradeoff. It's 5-10x the cost. 100,000$ car? Sure. When it's 8% of the value of the car vs 1%? Something to think about, at least. **BRENT**1 point

The problem with a new black car is that it goes from shiny to matt camo overnight when it snows or rains... My 2017 WRX LTD had 4.5 miles on the odometer when I bought it last November, and I like it a bit more than the STi that I was supposed to come home with - nicer ride, the STi performance exhaust is loud but not deafening, with much better gas mileage and better WAF. I used some of the savings to upgrade the amp and speakers, get BBS wheels for the summer tires and put snows on the OEM wheels, so I can change them myself at home in the spring. The rest of the savings vs STi will pay for the next 2 years of car insurance. (I traded my son's 10 year old RAV4 and gave him my 2015 Forester XT to drive.)1 point

I agree, which is kind of sad seeing how optimistic i was for the hobby when audeze started developing their first headphone, and everyone was hopping on the orthodynamic hype train. There's still plenty of cheap orthos on ebay, but i guess part of the fun was actually unearthing and documenting all the obscure and forgotten phones nobody knew anything about, like PMB's, MB Quart's and weird Amfiton's. Not to mention putting SFI tweeters in all kinds of ugly donor-phones, hand-sewing custom ear pads and trading felt across the world with other users (like kabeer, ludoo, smeggy and ericj.) Those really were fun times.1 point

Thank you, Gents. Sincerely appreciated. I have my fingers crossed for the boy. He is a 17 high school kiddo but truly means well. Off to college later this year which will be our first out the door and a serious adjustment for the family. I wish I had the pleasure of having met many of you in person as I expect my friendly banter is probably lost in translation. I do intend it to be in good humor. The only car I have left with an old school clutch is my little 1978 Datsun 280Z. Just like the one I drove in college except this one only had 4 speeds and my original girl had overdrive (5th gear). I bought it to teach my boys how to drive a synchro. Fortunately my oldest son truly enjoys it. Number two is TBD. He just turned 16. The Challenger used to have a 6 speed Tremec but I couldn't keep it alive with the increases in power. Shame really. HS1 point

Are there any headphones you do like? Don't know where you get your kicks, but I don't waste a lot of time on shit I don't like, headphones or otherwise. Find something you like, listen to them for a while, and fucking smile a little.1 point
