Don't look now, but everyone's favorite fat-headed Mexican (with the whitest sounding name) is no longer a 30something.3 points

Oi! I resemble that remark! I recently went even bigger than the usual 19mm with these 22 mm jobbies for a couple of builds. It sits alongside one of the enormous 39 mm polished silver knobs from Hifi2000. It's gaudy, it's pretentious, by any reasonable standard it's awful, but I f'en love it.3 points

Deftones-White Pony I'd always like the song Change when I would hear it on the radio, but had never bought one of their albums. My oldest son had played Beauty School off a later album for me, so I requested both of these as CDs for my birthday. I listened to Change last night on the speakers and was astounded at how good it sounded. I really wish some of the stuff I really like from the early-mid '90s had been recorded and mastered this well.2 points

I'm sorry, but I still like the blue ring illuminated vandal switches... banish me to the corner Perhaps it is because I have rarely gotten around to casing any of my shit (yet), so I haven't gotten tired of living with them...2 points

The recent outcry over the MQA scam, and Tidal’s complicity in it, probably should be mentioned on this thread. This video started it a couple of weeks ago.2 points

I think I’m the minority here, maybe I should have some time in the corner. Just don’t get me started on the dot illuminated variety... 🤮 ... to add fuel to the fire and to further rant aimlessly, I’ve rarely seen any commercial audio companies using these switches, I just can’t see the likes of Accuphase or Audio Note banging one of these bad boys on the front of their products. But hey this tots my personal pref, just throwing it out there1 point

Oh, wow. So anyone who has listened to my show has at some point heard me rant about Planet Dog records which was the record label arm of the infamous Megadog series of nightclub events. There was a time in the mid 1990s when Megadog was the most happening thing in the UK, and the UK in the mid 90s was popping TF off. Planet Dog helped launch the careers of Eat Static and Banco De Gaia, two artists that have been staples in both on my radio show and my personal listening for decades. One of the lesser know Planet Dog acts is somewhat awkwardly titled Children of the Bong. CotB put out one album, which is absolutely brilliant, completely of its time, and a decidedly lo-fi affair. They also released a few singles, some compilation-only tracks, and then promptly disappeared. Well, apparently they're back. The just re-released their album in digital format, though I am unsure if it's been remastered. It has some bonus tracks, but AFAICT they are nothing newly available. That is, the bonus songs were already on plenty of releases. That said, I stumbled on to a really good blog piece about them. They cover the thought process and studio work on the tracks from the album. As someone who spends entirely too much time thinking about electronic music from the first half of the 1990s, this is absolute catnip for me. Later this evening I'm going to put on my copy of the album (and by that, I mean load up FLACs in Foobar) and read along as I listen to it. Bonus: check out the gear in the vintage photos of Banco's studio:1 point

Very nice! I miss my RAM. Don't miss parking it...LOL, but absolutely loved towing with it and the sheer utility and don't give a crap who parked next to me, etc... Lot to be said for that. I'll own another one day when my parking situation improves. They're too damn practical not to. I was eyeballing the TRX for a while...glad I stepped back. Got to drive a friend's....so damn nice and fun though! The interior is exceptional and the handling and quiet cabin given what it is / the tires...impressive. HS1 point

Started with this then made it look like this then decided to play with chemicals then made it look like this via a probably Doug approved implement called a card scraper, then put the first coat on! probably will do another coat, might sand between coats? I am not sure what is recommended with this Osmo stuff… But; it looks ok! - I found out that if you get bubbles in the epoxy it’s doesn’t quite work to just put another layer on top. Also the really shallow flaws didn’t hold the epoxy well. I kinda wanted a contrasting jet black color in the various cracks and crannies and it looks pretty decent! There were some knotholes that went all the way through the plank and those took the epoxy really well.1 point

Giri/Haji ( 義理/恥) "Smart, suspenseful, and superbly shot, Giri/Haji is a near-perfect crime thriller with a surprisingly sharp sense of humor." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giri/Haji Because: We'd just finished Line Of Duty S6 (which is now available on Britbox) which is well worth a watch When Youtube suggested this interview ... Which got me intrigued in Giri/Haji, so we watched it. I'm very glad we did. Check out the comments on the YouTube trailer to see the impression it made on other people. Well worth your time to watch (IMHO).1 point

In other news, I just got back the analog input board and assembled the amp. The sandwich is 6.2mm thick + bottom components for a total of about 9mm thick. Batteries are about 10mm on top of the input board. Back plate on and plugged into USB-C (charging LED on) Why we did this... Portable music Just analog from my phone at the moment. DAC is up next PS The Weight is 12oz or 340g1 point
