  1. I successfully designed (Fusion360) and printed my first part on Wednesday. It's an adapter to transform the diameter of a cyclone dust separator that I'm printing for use with the Shapeoko as my had and I are going to use the machine to make parts/pieces for a quad of Adirondack chairs this winter. Stock part left, my part right. Combined Assembled with 2/3's of the separator, the third piece is printing now and should be done in about 12 hours. Then I have to print one more each of the nozzle/hose pieces.
  2. We had family down from a Covid hot spot in Mass, and one of the people visiting is a RN who regularly tests people. Since it was a nice day, out of an abundance of caution, we had outdoor picnic style Thanksgiving. That involved, among other things, Quiche (a type of pie), Yorkshire puddings stuffed with succotash (also a type of pie), stuffing cooked inside puff pastry (more pie), and apple galettes (a free form pie). To my wife's chagrin, the pumpkin was in the form of scones, so pumpkin pie will need to be made in the near future. For the record, stuffing cooked inside puff pastry is a winner.
  3. Challenge Accepted! And for the head casers Met with Joanne's seal of approval
  4. Happy Thanksgiving to the best internet family out there. Like my tall friend much pie was consumed, but not too much. There's no such thing as too much pie.
  5. I have been named Wallmart best cüstomer! My phone doesn't work since I tried to click the link, but I can't wait for my gift card to arrive!
  6. Smoked 7lb bone in turkey breast. Was delicious.
  7. The theme song from a 10/10 movie with an 11/10 soundtrack.
  8. I may have eaten a little too much pie.
  9. I somehow read that post completely differently 😆
  10. In terms of Lelit, I've been eyeing the Lelit Glenda PID. Maybe that's an option for you HS? It does look less bulky than the Bianca.
  11. Have a great day, eat lots of food and enjoy friends and family!
  12. Happy Thanksgiving weekend! Yumi and I had lunch at Artisans (French restaurant) and then ipic to see The House of Gucci. Adam Driver and Lady Gaga were excellent and so was the food and drink!
  13. ^ Same here. Also because I like to balance the portions, same for turkey, potatoes, and naps.
  14. Happy (Belated) Thanksgiving. Nice day spent with my wife's side of the family....didn't have to travel far, which was nice.
  15. Pre-gaming porch beer in the sunshine. Happy Thanksgiving HC! #NFLO
  16. I have an unopened pearl, I think. Lemme look when I get home.
  17. This might be an option, Jacob... https://www.totalespresso.com/collections/home-machines/products/lelit-victoria-pl91t
  18. I love the idea, Jacob. The additional equipment less so...LOL. One day we'll upgrade our kitchen / home. Likely after retirement though given how good my commute is. HS P.S. the Breville is one inch too tall for my cabinets...just measured. Bummer.
  19. I figure that for every 1 report of a failure on an industrially made device there are 100,000 non-reports of no issues. That’s sort of my rule of thumb. Are you sure you want to get into espresso? At home it’s… a hobby, not just a drink you make. I mean; it’s that too.
  20. Of course. I couldn’t imagine going wrong with that machine. I can suggest a bunch of accessories, as I’m sure many here can, but I think the Breville dual has everything you need to make good coffee out of the box.
  21. Hmmm. If you don’t care about cool kid Instagram bonafides I would get the Breville Dual Boiler. It’s fairly compact, and very good. And should be in stock. You can run it manually*, or run the various programs. *I’m assuming you aren’t looking for a lever machine.
  22. I’ve thought about getting a steamer/frother like that. My espresso machine obviously does a great (well, good enough) job, but I don’t always want to use it, and I certainly don’t travel with it. Heather had a very busy countertop, so I figured the stovetop would work better. Plus, I like difficult.
  23. That milk steamer looks interesting, Jacob. I use an older version of this jobbie (Chef Star or the like is the brand) and it does a good job for what I need. Not a lot of flexibility but I find it functional and easy to clean. I bought a second when the dairy kept breaking down...even after two different half n halfs. Turned out it was the dairy so I gave the second to my folks and they love it. https://www.amazon.com/EZBASICS-Chocolates-Cappuccino,Electric-Stainless-Steel,Automatic/dp/B08Q3X72D6/ref=dp_prsubs_2?pd_rd_i=B08Q3X72D6&psc=1 HS
  24. Another almond milk latte. I find almond milk to be difficult to use, so I think I should be able to really make some good macadamia nut versions, when I have that milk again. The espresso was 16.5 in to about 40 out in about 30 seconds (not including the pre infusion I had to do because I ground too fine). I was tempted to do latte art (I think you can see that in the pic!), but I don’t do latte art so I didn’t.
  25. Just made a third board (right side) of “Megatron something”. Output CCS are T2 style - 3 x 2sc4686 and 2sa1968. All ten LEDs are on top side of board. I’ve to compensate for the missing tubes. Picture is shoot in weak light, ISO 12800 and 1/6sec.

  27. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃
  28. Happy Thanksgiving HeadCase. Time to reflect, eat, drink and give thanks, and ponder what to be grateful for. This year compared to last? A new administration? A vaccine rollout, including boosters for all that want it? Enjoy the myth. Pay no attention to the historical genocide. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/nov/25/thanksgiving-myth-wampanoag-native-american-tribe
  29. Enjoy the holiday. I'm wondering when will it be a festivity here, after all giving thanks is a nice practice.
  30. Happy thanksgiving to everyone!
  31. Thanks. Indeed, Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  32. First Georgia helps elect Biden, now Georgia convicts three White men of killing a Black man. I'm going to have to reevaluate Georgia. Way to go Georgians!
  33. I'm watching the news that three asshats have been found guilty of murdering an unarmed jogger in Georgia. Thank you to the jurors for being human.
  34. power supplies are not supposed to go beep.
  35. A right channel is finished now. Here is an aerial picture. Output current sources differ between channels. Left, as said in a few posts earlier, has T2 style CCS while right channel only has 01N100D/DN2540 CCS - a “Carbon style” CCS. The boards are ready for both CCS. The boards have same size and tube positions as mini T2. I run this on +400/-460V PSU, same PSU as I use for mini T2.
  36. Finally got the output stage of my amp at least somewhat functioning. Spent a solid few weeks scratching my head and thinking I screwed something up. Nope, both 45 tubes I have had bad heaters. Bought another tube and now everything is as it should be. Next stop: find some output transformers.
  37. A small project I did some time ago. DIY solder station for Weller WMRP soldering pen. Check this http://kair.us/projects/weller/index.html . I ordered ten PCBs, same price as for the one I needed. If you want to try this, ping me and I send you a board for just shipping costs and I pay same amount to Doctors Without Borders. Does it work? Yes, only for fine smd jobs. Have I used it? No, not really. Why build it then? Because you can.
  38. .. and updated version of my optical speed controller sensor! The original sensor I was using was a victim to pandemic stock levels and I wasn’t happy with the IR filter used. This version also was designed to fit into half of a small enclosure - I would put a sticker or label over the trimmer in the end (or use fixed resistors) but needed to have it available to prototype the comparator sensitivity. I will probably glue dot it to the plinth, no components are soldered to the bottom of the board. I did spec out a actual jack on the board, but having issues finding a mini stereo connector that is more or less the same diameter as the barrel, ensuring it doesn’t stick out below the enclosure - not sure if anyone has a recommendation there. In fact a male-female extension cable that is low profile would work just fine too IMG_0038.MOV
